Good luck SAE with the freezer peeps
;)
Let us know how u get on.
texuspete2k2,
My first Infinity had a red hot southbridge, the heatsink used to get really hot, this one isnt so bad. I would say that it is slightly over luke warm and yupthat is my nthbrdge heatsink on my southbridge.
I think i may have sorted my lan problems, ill know better tomorrow morning when i wake up, will be leaving the comp on again (third night running) hopefully the LAN will be working fine when i wake up.
If it is then I have to atribute the problems I have been having to unsuccessful bios flashes. Today i decided to do the bios flash the DFI way...which is the following procedure (info from Amdmd.com):
I flashed to the 121 bios today and followed this procedure, it seems to have worked, will know l8r.Quote:
Question: What is the best way to flash my BIOS?
Answer: After flashing your BIOS, you should power down the computer when after the flash procedure exits and restarts your computer.
For the best guarantee that everything works properly:
1/ Unplug the power cord to the computer to completely power down
2/ clear CMOS jumper for 30 seconds
3/ Power computer back up, and immediately go into the BIOS
4/ Choose "Load Failsafe Defaults" or "Load Optimized"
5/ Save and exit
Immediately after reboot, go back into the BIOS and configure to your liking
Clearing CMOS after a flash helps clear any old settings in the BIOS that might conflict with the new BIOS codes.

This pic man...
Looks like your southbridge heatsink is on your northrbidge, not the other way around. Unless I've lost my mind. Looks like the 100fsb jumper etc. Just curious is all.Quote:
lol,
Yup you are spot on, I think i misunderstood your question. That is indeed the southbridge heatsink on the nthbrd!
The reason the picture was like that is because I was still testing the mod and had my mthbrd on my desk. The nthbrd heatsink was firmly attached to the southbridge and i didnt want to pull it off. So as a precautionary method i just dumped the southbrd heatsink onto the nthbrd to do my testing.
The reason why I havnt got a nthbrd heatsink is because I have a waterblock for it. Setting up the watercooling stuff out the case is a bit of a mission, hence the temp measure you see in the picture.
Hope that explains what u can see

Have we managed to work out the optimum value for these resistors yet? :)Quote:

Hopefully by the time i get back there will be some new information on the optimum value for the resistance needed.
Am I right in thinking 3.3k would be about right for this mod? :)
Cheers
I'm curious about NB temps to.Quote:

Some peeps say that it runs higher FSB's @ higher temps, but this seems kinda illogical 2 me.
Anyone have some info on this?
anyone?Quote:

I want to order my parts tomorrow so I can mod it this weekend
Do not know if the mod worked well cause I am fighting massive bios corruption problems atm :(
With the prom I did not have it so excessively... Do not know if it is that what makes it worse...
I have done the mod with 4,7k ones.
Vdrop at fixed 24k atm :)
What rev are your guys' NB's?
Mine is an A1... 0348 production date.
My LP B one is 0335 iirc, and my infinity one (new - but never booted up right now - got today from rma  ) has 0348...
 I think it does not matter anymore if it's 35 or 45... they do perform equally ;)
bigZ,
Ive got 3.9kohm resistors attached to mine, all good so far.
STEvil,
Mine is a 0348 one. Seems to crave more vdd than my 0335 one did. I had to do the vdd mod today to really stabalise my 235mhz bus speed with 3 sticks of ram occupying my dimm slots.
SAE,
Glad to see you got your mobo back, care to elaborate on your bios problems

4th BIOS hotflash so far... impressive bios safe procedure it seems... Seems to mess up all the data mainly when changing vcore...Quote:

LP B is my favourite though... the infinity never booted up although I only have attached psu, cpu and ram, plus gfx card...
Maybe a hotflash is necessary even before using  LOL
my infinity has been a      ;)
A1/A2/A3/C1 though, guys?

Hey vlad, what 's up? Do you have trouble with people on this forum  ?
n
i dont have trouble with most people here, and i didnt have trouble with anyone here some days ago, hell even fugger could be ussefull for me now that i am doing things with p4 if the ambient was more calmed, but the current situation doesnt give me much peace of mind seeing the ease to delete posts and members, move threads to where they cant be reached, edit post, spying pms, i really fear for the whole forum to go down definitely/whole database to get deleted, of course i dont really know for sure how true are fugger or the other parties arguments, but here everything is becoming spam and flames, while in the other place at least doesnt delete/ban people as easily, it isnt full of flames, there are real moderators, and everything makes me at least feel sure that if things get real ugly i will have a chance to pack the important stuff and go to other place, it is also a determinant factor to see some people i really admire resigning as mods or as members and getting their resignation posts deleted and his threads covered with flames.Quote:

and another time i hope my statements here dont get me a ban as this might get to be a good forum in the future, but sorry now it isnt.
EDIT: yeah now i have
Maybe I seem a bit dumb now ;) but I did not really notice these things going on... *cough* Okay. I think I know you would be there if questions occure :D
I hope these circumstances do not last for long, we are losing too much superb members these days, it seems :(
cheers, I'll go with that then, thanks :cool:Quote:

Good luck with that then, take xtreme care

hy people
i make some tests and i have good news, vdroop mod is not necessary.
let see de results:
these values are obtain with a multimeter.(windbond hardware monitor is not fiable,it shows false variacion on the voltages)
overcurrent mod with original resistors(2.2k)
cpu at 250x10 vcore 1,9v vcore idle(1.906v) full(1.897v)
overcurrent mod with other resistors(3.3k)
cpu at 250x10 vcore 1,9v vcore idle(1.913) full(1.906v)
cpu at 240x11 vcore 1.9(vcore moded) vcore idle(2.097v) full(2.090v)
when i put more than 2.1v on vcore the computer freezes on windows xp logo, can someone why this hapen?
when increasing the resistences from overcurrent i dont see increasing v droop, good, its fine,no vdroop mod need
also i solve my cold boot problem,i change the cpu(barton 2500+ mobile 1.45v default vcore) default voltage to 1.8v and no more problems on restart and power on:banana:
Where are you measuring the vcore at?
I measured at the choke, but i'm unsure if that is a reliable read point.
YEAH!! Seems like I got one of this magical boards where none of the mods is needed except Vcore mod. :D
I went up to ~2.15v .. no instability. I need prommy please sell meh !!!!!
Edit:
Hm I discovered that my Vcore still fluctates by 0.05v, then I took my Multimeter and measured at the choke. Stable 2.059v idle and stable 2.048v load. MBM shows values from 2v to 2.05v so i think this is only a BIOS problem.
-te como yo.
