X'posed Bench Table

Well, pitty that fan wasn't among ones tested by martin on actual LC rad. In Jordan's test at fixed noise level 33dB GT@1450 pushed 2.48cfm more then NF-P12 @900. I have claimed many times - there are more silent fans then GTs, there are more powerful fans, but not many that have "hit the sweat spot" of noise/performancy at silent level like GTs have. And i alongside many other people have claimed many times about lies in manufacturer provided specs. They play game with methodology how they measure performance and noise. Many times you see known inferrior fan listed with better specs then known better alternative. That's where independent 3rd party tests come to help.

Well the Noctua is rated at 20db and according to specs should have a little more static pressure than the 33db GT. To me it seems like the better choice. But I'm no expert...

dam mate, havent been on here in a while.. loving the micro fibre items man.. brilliant work! And definately best bench table ive seen!

I read that comparison review and was an interesting read. Too bad that chart didn't have the Noctua NF-P12 at 1300rpm in there, but never mind the cfms I thought whats important to cooling your rad is the static pressure. Someones got to do a comparison based on that and then we'll see....

Thanks you so much guys for you input, the choice was difficult betweenthe GT's and the noctua but my walet make it easier :) for 10 bucks less each i ordered the GT's @ 1850. I hope i will not regret my choice. Verdict in a couple of weeks ;)

antho: downvolt them. From experience of many owners of GTs, they are very silent at 1000-1100 rpm, and for many others they are silent enough even at 1450. You'll also have performance reserve for hot days for full speed of 1850 (which some told that is still comparable to noiseblocker's 1400).

davidm71: I'm pretty shure that at 1300 those noctuas might outperform GTs flow wise .. but if they are already making same noise at 900 as GTs at 1400, they most probably will be anything but silent at 1300 :). Imho rpms are almost always completely irrevelant in fan to fan comparison. Depending on fan blade count and profile, engine size and alikes different fans give different noise, different flow and different pressure at same rpms. So only thing that really matters - flow vs noise. As in which blows more at particular noise level or which is most silent yet blows enough. Pitty many manufacturers game with specs to sell their (sometimes inferrior) products. Like reporting noise for minimal rpms, telling performance at maximum, never mentioning distance how far from fan microphone is placed, never comparing with top fans but often with their previous ones or some clearly inferrior ones, rarely using special sound proofed accoustic chambers. At the end, only way to make more-less objective choice/comparison are independent 3rd party tests. Hopefully with competent testing methodology.

:cool:I will, i can even stop three of the fans when the PC is in low use...

Cool, not far from me, keep up the nice work :)

So, i install the fan on the case... they are way more quiet even at full RPM.

But i'm a little bit disappointed the temp drop down of only 12°c :rofl::ROTF:

So tested and approved they tatolly deserve their names :up: and the funny part is that you can feel the wind almost 2 meters away from the case

I will totally use them in my future HTPC project

It's really a big and beautiful work you did there.

bench tables are becoming more frequent these days, I have one.
