I'm sure they blame themselves :brick: for not being able to share
the knowlege ealier because their ''small'' minds can not think of anything other than usless hwbot points.
Thank you George.

It's great that everyone has the mods now, but I got to clarify some things. The reason this bios has not been made available is simply due to Nvidia handing it out only after signing NDA, the same goes for some of the modifications. It seems that Marcus got permission to post them however so everything is ok now :) Unless some other people we actually respect a signed agreement.
(This is NOT critizism against George, just the general opinion that NDA is made up exuses or bs)
OK, you had to sign an NDA to receive the mods, but you didn't have to compete in public league using confidential info. This is exactly why hipro5 is a legend and guys who knew the cold slow mod before are not.
I have one submission with 4x GTX 480 in Vantage at 1030 core, it's really a problem isn't it.
There are alot of unfair situations in overclocking, but having confidential information now is not valid for hwbot? What kind of advantage do you think for example hicookie has in that regard?
These are all bullshi(f)ts and you know it..... ;)
NDA as for the cold slow bug yes maybe(?) BUT NDA as for the rest of the mods?.....MANY had them (I didn't had a VGA till now) - DID ANYONE POST ANYTHING about them?...WHY NOT?...
Do you want to drive us crazy or not?.....Have YOU or ANYONE ELSE sign ANY NDA as for mods?....Ehhhhh?......
At least I know ONLY ONE DECENT person who DIDN'T post his mods, be afraid NOT to COPY ONCE AGAIN any of the other companies his precius work...and GUESS WHAT!.....He is RIGHT!.... :)
Insted of finding their OWN solutions (other companies) they JUST COPY other's HARD WORK and REPRODUCING it with - well - a "different way"..... Do you OR anyone else want to go deeper into this with more details?.....
These bullsi(f)ts all over have filled me up.....
You didn't Jon, but several others did.
I'm fine with that, as long as the person in mind doesn't pretend to care about the community, play the "tweaks should be shared" type of guy.
George ( Hipro5 ) there's an NDA about every stupid mod except the memory, nVIDIA bullies are trying to become even more annoying and hated.
However some people got the mods indirectly ( not necessarily from other overclockers ) and could leak them without getting in trouble, but they chose HWboints over the overclocker's spirit.
Now I know why the Xtreme 3D section has been so quiet over the past year, and why I don't see many of the legends around here anymore. I am going to start a new website:
www.xtremeNDAviolators.com
That's the corporate part of the overclocking game :(.
But isn't this what we, as overclocker, want? For instance, the Clarkdale coldbug modification was found by Shamino, but not shared (guessing here ...) because other manufacturers would just copy it. But ... there was only one way to modify it. Does this mean that in a country where no Evga is sold, you cannot have coldbugfree Clarkdale? No, you should be able to buy another board, do the same type of mod and have nice clocks.
We must remember that this situation must be very difficult for the overclockers within companies who like to share information. On the one hand they want to do a favour to the community, but on the other hand they don't want other vendors just to copy everything ...
Yea, I guess you're right on this...
BUT.....Think of it like the "nowadays companies" "forces" somehow their employs not to say anything about anything to public, to have the advantage of their own and keep it secret to a "closed circuit" among them....
THIS is the BAD part of the whole scene.....and guess what!.....This IS NOT the Overclocking spirit I've learned from others/olders/old dogs and I follow till now... :(
Go and ask an "old dog" O/Cer, his oppinion about the nowadays situation..... :(
MANY of them have quited by looking at the future ahead of them... :(
C'mon George, you've always been in the habit of withholding mods until after you got your scores done. (Not that I ever have had any problem with that, sharing them at all is generous of you)
Competition is competition, and when it's corporate competition it's especially fierce. Companies aren't out to help the community (nor should they be). When someone finds something out, it's their intellectual property. When it's in the context of a regular bencher in the community, it's up to them whether they share it or not. When it's in the context of an employee of a company, not only do they not have any obligation to share anything, they're more obligated NOT to share so as to not allow their competition to gain an edge. That's the nature of trade secrets and companies using them to their advantage. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's the basis of capitalism, but that might be stretching things a bit too far for the discussion at hand.
So in short, no to this:
Sucked to be you guys that purchased Fermis and were SOL without a cold slow BIOS, or if you bought a Gigabyte or MSI board before the CB mod was public, but no corporation has any obligation to share any trade secret with you, just because it hurts the community if they don't. Especially eVGA had no obligation to share anything with someone that purchased an MSI or Gigabyte board. These manufacturers aren't here to aid the community. It's a bit baffling that so many seem to think they should be.Quote:

Gatman my friend.......You're growing up...... :D
And so are you...;) :sofa:
I've tried this bios today in 2003mark. I dont know why but I had a black screen every time in Trols Lair when I try more than 1110mhz core clock(((
Gautum I like to take a little larger look at things. In reality you are correct 100% about trade secrets and not making things public. The problem is that it is in the best interest of these companies to keep the community happy. The stupid cold slow almost had more than a handful of guys ready to "hang their hats". Loosing your customer base is never healthy no matter the market you play in. :) Sadly I think right now the companies are looking at the short side. If anything they should put the mods on their product. Not start showing it off via one or two people. That does nothing other than piss off the base.
There is nothing wrong with finding mods that you don't wanna share for other companies to get for free. What they should be doing though is making sure their product line has this "special sauce" enabled that no other company has. Just like the Classified. Shamino figured out how to make a board that could kill all other boards in the bclock dept. They made a product with some little known knowledge and capitalized on it. The base was happy for this too. :yepp:
Sadly I think these companies will never get it. I sure hope they do though.
Are you guys freezing a bit your VGA's Mos-Fets..I mean heatsinks on them and some air blowing on them?.....
100% true !
when you have cherry chips , modification's infos , etc , Is it fair to submit your results in a public website like hwbot for pointing ??
example : a company hire ( or indirectly support me very good ) me for submitting a world record in 06 for example to advertise its new product . they give me 50 gulftowns for example for handpick a good one and many graphics to choose . that at situation it's not hard to break some records .
until now it's ok and fair. but after that I'll submit it in HWBOT RANKING for example and hwbot makes a news : "WoW what a record !!! "
it's not fair anymore ! that's the problem we've now . the problem is not manufacturers jon they're overclockers those want to show JUST themselves more and more and websites like hwbot who wants to gets more benefits .
if company wants to submit these types of results in hwbot and you and hwbot deny that what can company do ?
the difference of top league overclockers and hipro in this action wasn't just NDA limitation was they just DON'T WANT to share . ( company limitation is just an excuse in most the time . )
In before it was a man to man competition in hwbot and now it's manufacturers to mans competition . It's so clear that manufacturers power , support , ... are not comparable to a person who is an overclocking enthusiast and want to overclock for fun like before .
