MSI says its a known problem but why are the sample cards working? I just want to know if I should return it. I know 4 other guys having the same issue. Also every card 5 out of 5 looks used, has finger prints boxes where all torn up and anti-static bags where obviously re-taped.

Ditto to this. Opened my brand new one last night for virgin Gulfie boot and it looked used. Voltage wouldn't respond well to AB.

Sigh...back to modded vanilla card until I can figure out what to solder to this and where...

Nice that you already got 1475 on the core!

I'm getting my card today. But i will only air test it. I know its not build for that. But so far i have had no luck with my cards non of them would do 1000 core stable on acceptable voltages.

So i will give the lightning a try. I hope it will do 1050+ on the stock heatsink.

idk... i have their 260s with the same heatsink and they get pretty hot actually... 65C loaded at stock speeds and volts... then again, thats with 25-35c ambient temps ^^

On 275 and 5870 heatsink and both funs are bigger and better :) not to much but always something...

So how did you go? Im looking to run one on water, again its not meant for this but why not give it a try? I want to bench it without super cooling.

These are looking amazing compared to other 5870's on the whole. I was trying to find them in stock on online e-tailers but couldn't... Anyone know where to get them? just curious..

You need a special version of Afterburner, which isn't publicly available.

.. one would think that with the release of Fermi.. the Extreme Afterburner would be released so more folks can have their luck beating 480 scores. I mean, after performing vDDCI, OCP/phase, OCP and capping... the GPU is for bench only..MSI need not worry about blown GPU's. :) Oh well... I'll keep waiting anxiously, and enjoying what I can from others results.

so returned my first lightning as it was DOA, got my second one back and its epic fail on ln2. 1250 @ 1.45v and wouldnt scale past that.
