Awesome, waitin for finished photo :p
Thanks for the comments all! It's truly appreciated!
Really good progress is being made on drilling/cutting situation of the bottom hull. So far the holes are lining up and I've got just a few more to go.
Pics forthcoming.
Pardon for the off topic:
Two free tickets just happen to fall on my lap so I shall be taking a break tonight to see the Machida fight live at the Staples Center! :)

Relevent pics and material hopefully before the weekend breaks.
I'm off! Traffic is gonna suck.
Can't wait, Cpt!
(Dang, we're in Southern Cal this weekend - I was planning on bringing my stuff by for some cutting, drilling, and photoing. Oh well, enjoy your evening out!)
Have fun at fight man. Looking forward to some more updates.
Very impressive photography work, it seems like 90% of the people here who do worklogs are like professional photographers :p
Hey, Shazza! How cool that you're hanging out in my neck of the woods. I hope you are having a great time here! I'll photograph your rigs any day. But in payment, I just want to push some of the control buttons on Lou's elaborate train set coolness one day. :D
Thanks, MT. I had fun... the main event, however, was disappointingly lackluster.
Thanks, ohms! I appreciate the feedback. I happen to fall in the 10% who isn't a professional photographer.
I agree that it was a bad decision. I thought the pre-fights were much more exciting. But I'm so glad I didn't pay for the tickets. :D
Here is the bottom panel of the hull which is also the top panel of the pedestal.
Prepped, masked, clamped, marked and ready for surgery:

Busted out the dremel to carefully mark the starter holes.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a large enough collet for the Rotozip to fit Chuck the unibit. Hey. That rhymed! (Yes. I'm easily amused).
So I took a smaller unibit (Chuckie), drilled just one step short of 9/16th (Chuckie is shorter than his dad).
Then I took Chuck and did the last step to 9/16" freehand.
It's a pretty unorthodox way of lining up holes, but for somebody who doesn't trust his own freehand drilling abilities, it worked out better than I thought.
The less this kid drills freehand, the margin of error decreases exponentially.

The clamped wooden guide performing its duties well:

After the procedure and the bandages removed, I was pleased with the results:

I placed the end of a straight edge T against the lip of the bottom panel to see if the fittings lined up.
They lined up perfectly!
Sweet.

Here's the top panel showing the compression fittings and a couple of 45 rotaries connected to pass-through fittings:

Deployed the fittings to check for clearance.
Verified that there's ample room to break dance upside down on the crowded dance floor:

The O-ring will be placed on the chassis side after powedercoating. I just didin't want to place unnecessary wear on them.
I'm sharing this with you in case you didn't know.
Friends don't let friends use worn out O-rings:

As always, thanks for checking in!
Looks interesting. Can't wait to see more.
i want all those fittings o.o.... and i think this is starting to look great already
great tools - great results! stunning!
Awesome work cptn, those holes are just perfection
Want to see more! :D
Outstanding work Rick - nice job on dem holes!
On a side note, how did you like the UFC experience?
SPECTACULAR mate... I'm already saying that word and the build hasn't even kicked off yet!
Well done flint, thanks for the update, coming along nicely
YAY, Update. Great photos like i said earlier in the log. Really am loving this.
When it's time to relax one beer stands clear. I'm tempted to post a pic of me cat on your log. But since I'm allergic to him, I can't get close enough for a decent shot. Besides, it looks like you have enough - with more coming.
Thanks Caoder  I'll be sure to post my (mis)adventures along the way.
Thanks for all the encouraging words thus far aka_GK! Your sleeving in your log rocked my face off. Excuse me while I go look for my face now.
Thank you Winston! Love watching your adventures on your worklog!
Thanks so much, Charles!
The sweet thing was I discovered the tickets I was given were VIP only after we arrived.
We got escorted red-carpet style to a large suite, with big screens, free food and free drinks. It was pretty close to the live action as well.
The main event was disappointing but in hindsight, the experience and the action during the pre-fights more than made up for it.
I think the next time I'll be down to watch a Machida fight again would probably be to cure my insomnia.
Hey Ding! I'm crossing my fingers I dont want to disappoint the owner of The Incredible Hulk. I wouldn't like him when he's angry. :D
I shall, kgtiger and thanks for all your continued support
That's quite a compliment coming from you Bent. Your photography skills and HDR posts are crazy mad eye candy. Thanks for your generous feedback!
Vapor! I'm so glad you're liking my little dog and pony show.
You've made me a more informed consumer and probably saved me countless headaches from all your informational testing and reveiws.
If I could give a little something back to you after all you've indirectly given me, let that be my expression of thanks and appreciation!
Things have been hectic 'round these parts, but I intend to get something substantial up and done over this weekend.
So there but for the grace of mod, go I.

I managed to do a little fiddling with some tubing on the mobo. Looks decent enough for a shot, but still in the process of redoing:

Hey bud,
You want to add cat photos to the build log, I don't mind. I did it for fun anyways, so I don't mind OT posts. ;)
(I do enough of them myself as it is. :D)
Photos look great. You crave that pumpkin? Happy Halloween to you too.
Can anybody tell me how do you all take pictures without a single dust on themmmmmmmmm
I freaking envy that
Excellent photo of your tubing on the mobo there flint.
I love the pumpkin, excellent work and very well done there mate, it's a nice personal touch, well done:up:
That pumpkin is a classic!
Happy Halloween to all the goblins hanging out here. Caught this pic of CptDreadFlint (although I think this is his normal look, not a Halloween Costume ;) )

Thanks for the comments all!
@mt Yes. Wife and photoshop helped find the negative space of my avatar. This help to figure out which part to carve and what to leave in.
@dro
I make use of three things.
1. Compressed air.
2. the notorious makeup applicator brush:
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_QLiEm5wyerY/Su...0/IMG_3671.jpg
3.) The healing brush.
What's really cool is the long straw thingy on the can of compressed air can be used for several things. A straw for one. Also:
A stick to poke dead things
A coffee stirrer
A paper cup suspender
A balloon popper
TIM Applicator
a toothpick
pipe cleaner
a plant grow-straighter situation
if you're really creative... you can fold it up and make pelican oragami. :D
And if you have enough of them, you can glue them all together and build a raft to get off remote islands (my favorite use).
@shaz
That's my cheesy, hands-on-hips, stance. I asked those guys if they were gonna post it on the net. Liars!
But aye. I kinda do look like that year-round. :p:
Have a Happy and Safe Halloween, everybody!
