what psu do you have? ive been looking to get a really nice one
Just got another Max3 whilst waiting for my first Max3 to come back from RMA.
I noticed that I got the verion 1.1 (ver1.0 but with the M64 de-soldered off the board.
Gonna run some tests & then see if my new Max3 needs anymore mods.
I'm gonna post up what I think is the right way to do the VTT mods on both the Max3 & IC7-G from what I've read in these forums.
A bit later that is..
Going off to see wjat this new Max3 can do B4 I solder anything onto it.
We need a step my step guide as others have done for the 9800pro vmods etc.. Something easier to understand for me..
Cheers.
BTW, that VDD mod for my IC7-G is great!!!!
Couldn't have done it without help from XS!!!
I've read trough this whole thread, but the thing sinn quoted just above my question did confuse me a little. Im norwegian, so sometimes it can be a little difficult to figure what you mean, but now i totally understand, next time i'll try to read more properly.Quote:

Yes I do think that is all you do for the Max 3 stabilisation.
edit:
Tried to PM Bigtoe about this?
Hope its ok :)
Thanx for clearing things up, all of you :)
Im not bad in english at all, it's just sometimes it can be difficult to understand when it comes to such an "advanced" thread as this when you guys talk about all these numbers and diffucult words etc, that's all ;)
ofcourse its ok. you dont have to feel bad bacasue u didnt read the whole thread. it was just abit ignorant thats all. i'm from holland, and i'm in the same boat as u.
Hell i'm american and you think it's easy for me?? I don't know how you guys can understand 10% of this. I've been to a lot of countries in the 80's and 90's and i didn't think that many people even understood american. Things must have really changed and maybe it's computers that has done it. I'm quite amazed and damn proud of anyone that can understand a second language.
PyroTeknik well for PSU's i kinda have it easy. pcpowercooling is only a few miles away from me. Thier lead engineer lives 2 blocks away from me. I had him make me a custom PSU according to my specs over 2 years ago. That PSU was and is amazing. Last week i had pcpowercooling build me another custom job based on thier 510 deluxe psu. Now i got 2 outstanding PSU's and it cost me less than $700.00 US for both. BTW they have dropped thier pricing a lot over the last few months. You can get the 510 deluxe for under 200 bucks and you can adjust the 12v and 5v and 3.3v line via 3 holes on the case for acces to the trim pots. I got no idea how much adjment they allow since mine do not have those pots. Mine are remote and mounted to the front of my case. For the money i'd say the 510 deluxe is probably the best PSU out there.
I did the mod today! It worked like hell!! Im now running my TwinMOS Winbond PC3200 ram on 240MHz 1:1 2-2-2-6 3.2v!
Here's a screenshot of Hardware Doctor:
That's looking real neat. Another inspiration for me to do the VTT mod.Quote:

How was your Ram's performance before you did the VTT mod?
Need info. Don't wnna do the mod unless I can gain around 5Mhz DDR
TIA
My ram could boot into windows at 228MHz 2-2-2-6 2.8v before, not more than that. Then it weren't fully stable. Now the boot up easily on 240MHz 2-2-2-6 3.2v. Been running it for 2 hours now! Everything is stable! :DQuote:

Im running single ram now, but im gonna order some dual soon. ;)
Edit: i haven't done the VTT mod, just the vdimm mod, removal of the MC64
Sorry, wrong thread, I was thinking of the IC7 Vmem mod thread & how they did the VTT mod as well & thought that you had done the VTT mod.
My Bad
I'm waiting on my first Max3 to come back from RMA, got an Asus P4C800-E that didn't like any of my Ram so I got a 2nd Max3 .
Looked at the Max3 B4 buying it & it already has the "MC64" removed.
I thought you were doing a VTT stabilisation mod..
I haven't tested my BH-5's on it past 230/DDR460 but seeing that DDR460 is the max on my Vmem modded IC7-G than I think I'm good for the next step, VTT mod.
Now the question is, do I do the VTT mod (void warranty) or be happy that my Vdimm is stable?
Good to see it's working good for you.
Cheers.
I'am thinkin about getting this board. I have a asus p4c800-e dlx that does 250 1/1 2-2-2-5 all day. Only with 2x256 installed. Problem is when I put 4x256 in. Any two sticks of the stuff I have will do 250 tight timmings at 3.45volts. 200 is tops with all four at any vdimm up to 3.55.
Can this abit max3 do better with the mods?
I also have questions about the mods. The vdimm mod is mc64 pin side to 5k variable resistor. I can either remove the mc64 or lift the pin on the chip and go from the raised pin?
Then the vtt mod it the one that is pitured so well up above by stang_man?
Where is the vnorth mod?
i think generally you wont get much of an overclock with 4sticks... but thats just my opinion
crap when i up volts to 3.2 i only get 1.36 vtt does this mean there is no point in doing the cap mod without doing the vtt mod? (i havnt taken off the cap yet...)
wolfgang, I totally agree with PyroTeknik, it's nearly impossible to get high OC's with 4 sticks.
My new Max3 has the MC64 taken out already... Still deciding on whether to do the VTT mod... My XMS are maxing out at DDR460-466 at 2-5-2-2@3.2v on both my modded IC7-G & new Max3. Both boards have the same VTT issue....
Of course I'll be using my IC7-G as a guinea pig...
If it dies? I got another Max3 in RMA...
Yup even i've tried 4 sticks with vdd/vtt mods and o/c really suffered big time. I'd suggest 2 sticks of 512mb sticks. If you find some that o/c decent let me know. Until then i'll just wait for the new chips from Hynix to come out.
Damn, my ram stick are crazy! Were able to puch it up to 251MHz 2-2-2-6 3.2v! Its only a 200MHz stick.

My VTT is at 1,55v, isn't that ok?
Yeah, great. Did VTT mod ?Quote:

Pheff... Is that normal that removing MC64 will 'mod' VTT ?Quote:

Just remember Vagp and VTT are backwards. So don't confuse the 2. Break out the multimeter to be sure. Without vtt mod the max it can go is 1.40 + or - 10%. More than likely it was your Vagp. None of mine were + or - 10% btw. They were closer to + or - 2%
oh, ok...didn't know that...well, then my actuall VTT is 1.4v when i use 3.2v ;)Quote:
