Sux.. i lost my AN7 ...
just because my friend is back one day before :9
I had the same high expectations for the AN7, had planned on making it my last 32 bit purchase, If nothing else I give them credit for saving me a few $$$...
Abit seems to be spending more money on Hyped up advertisement and less on R&D. There last 3 boards released have been what I consider sub-par. And since the P4 temperature controversy, the customer commitment seems lacking.
The IC7-G Max 3 was the last Abit I bought on there reputation, now I wait and see how they run, so far that philosophy has saved wasted money on the AN7, and the KV8. Hopefully they get back to there roots and start taking the time to do it right, before its to late..
I have been Oc'ing for years so I have a grasp on things.
This board IMHO is POS. At least this board is. I using bios 1.3.
So far I tried Buffalo 3200 BH5's and KHX 3500 NOT CH5 chips.
I have some Hynix and some other KHX I can try but I belive that's not the problem.
The ram seems to need much more Vdimm to run at the same speed and timings as the NF7 version 2.
Does this have something to do with the trace cut on the board meaning the board had Problems before so that's why they cut it?
Listen to this. I have this little yellow sticker on my AN7 box from some Japanese company. Why the fuc is there a sticker from a Japanese vendor on it?
It says something in Japanese and then "support@Keian.co.jp"
This is the company. http://www.keian.co.jp/
So I buy a board from Abit. The board's trace is gashed, it has a sticker on it from a Japanese vendor meaning it was in his hands before I got it. The damn board won't stop making that siren noise if a CPU fan isn't on it. The Guru OC'ing software locks up the board. It reboots and won't run Prime after say a fsb of 209.
So in conclusion, I warn you guys about this board. It's a POS, at least this one.
Hum.. really strange.. have you send email to abit marketing !?
Consider yourself lucky Techtones. Mine burnt up before I even got a post. I'm ***king thrilled it didnt take my cpu, ram or video with it. Piece of ***t.
I liked my nf7-s 2.0. Maybe because I never had a 1.2... but I was doing 230 at 2.5 timings out of the box until I updated the bios. But this is a ***king joke. At least make one clean cut. Abit should have the tools for that. Don't Stab at the trace with a screwdriver until you see copper. That is a bad idea.
I send them an e-mail about the cut trace but nothing back from them.
I guess it takes a few days to make up a believible answer.
I'm just going to RMA it. I'm sorry I didn't take the new NF7 instead.
But look, perhaps it's only these strange batch of boards that are bad?
Maybe the new batch will work better.
The more I fool around with the board, the worse it gets. If I set the Vdimm at 3v, the sytem reboots. It's like it can't handle the voltage draw of high Vcore and high Vdimm. The voltage regulating on this particular board is horrible.
I would expect this from Epox, not from Abit. In my eyes Abit is not the same company it once was. If they can put crap like this on the market, it tells you about the company's ideology and business practices.
Think if I call newegg I can get rma refund without restocking fee? I don't want another one of these POS boards. I want my damn money back. I'm already paying through the nose shipping this crap back to them.
But.. if this motherboards is some final beta mobos !?
I cant belive that abit put this shi#@ in the market..
Number one, use Fedex Ground. I pay $6 from Fl to Ca.Quote:

Yes, tell them about the thread here on cut traces. Do you have that little yellow sticker on yours too? If yes, ask them why it has another vendors sticker on it.
Yes they won't charge you a restocking fee but you need to call up and know what you're talking about.
How did your burn burn up??
keian? Yeah it's on the front of the box.
I set it up outside my rig, put in my secondary parts (1700+, 512 hyperx, ti4200, fort 350watt, slk900A+SF2) and hit the power switch. Powered on, fans started and before the monitor got a signal it shut off. I smelled smoke. The kind of sweet smoke that only burning solder or frying motherboards can create.
Oh damn :(
Yes what is that other vendors sticker doing on the box?
i think these guys are crazy Ocer's and tried modding the boards or trying them out and keeping only the good ones. Then they ship the rest out of the country.
Who knows.
I think they are probably abits distributer and maybe the bastards who got charged with the task of cutting the pcb.
Those mobos was bought at newegg ?
Mine was and many here were so yes.
i haven't fully test mines yet but from the look of it i might as well rma mines back to newegg. im guessing if they get enough complaints about this cut trace and all this other bullsh*t coming along with this board they won't charge a restocking fee.
usually newegg will waive the restock fee if you ask nicely and explain your problem.
No, they are just a dumb reseller that uses marketing phrases like this:Quote:

My feels are exactly like everyone elses here. My AN7 is going back.
I achieved a little more stability.
I not sure what helped. but number I moved one stick from dimm 2 to 1. So I have 1 and 3 setup.
I also decided to try some KHX CH5 sticks I have 2 of.
Well, the board boots up now all the right beep codes. Before it was completely silent except for the fan siren.
Right now it's Priming at 206 x 12
It looks to me that the problem with this board lies from either
1} bad cuts of N2 chipsets better cuts going to the N3 chipsets
2] Horrible voltage regulation as it just reboots if you try 3v
or both of these.
But try changing dimm slots or try some CH5 if you have it.
Does yours have the trace cut too?Quote:

Where did you buy it?
What were the problems you had?
I just called newegg and explained the situation to them and they gave me a full refund of my money therefore my board is heading back out today.
That's good.
You told them about the cut trace?
yep i told her that everyone who has purchase this board were reporting it had a cut trace and when i received mines i yesterday and checked it it too had a cut trace.
only 206 fsb ???
