You know, most of these blocks are just sitting around in their packaging. I know it would be very nice of me to give them away, but I'm just not like that. :P
No, seriously: I mainly keep the blocks because I need to reuse many of them at some point. I always keep some for reference (whenever I test a new block, I first retest one of the others to check if I still get the same results) and many blocks are re-used for other testing scenarios or videos.
I have a problem with my temps.I'm using HK 3.0 with backplate settings: 3.8 GHz 1.24v and temps are:
Idle 48 C and Full Load 83 C.
My loop is:
DDC 1T, XSPC RX360 rad with Noctua S12 fans, HK 3.0 , EK FC GTX 280, and 3/8" tubing.
Temps was the same on Apogee GTZ - what is going on?Is my chip crap?
what is your ambient temp? Actually isn't it always cold in Scotland and Poland? lol.
Ambient is quite high, my room is very small.
I'm living in scotland now :P
Surface of my block seems to be not stright, IHS of my CPU as well.

Given your original chart from this thread, that would put it pretty much on par with the HK 3.0.

Must be a whole new block. I don't see how just a copper top could net you almost 3 degrees unless you have a fan blowing fresh cool air directly on it or something. :shrug:

Well, unless the internals of that Copper Supreme were changed vs. the normal one, there's no way it could be that much better.

Internal testing (by whom? when?) have shown this block to be 2.5o C (Measured how? What heat source? 2.5 C delta or absolute? What were the ambient factors like temps, flowrates etc?) Cooler than previous versions and one of the best CPU Water blocks currently on the market! (One of the best? Like one among the top ten or twenty? Or are we talking about the HK 3.0? Also, the statement implies that the previous Supreme had identical performance to this "one of the best" waterblocks as apparently the copper Supreme is 2.5 C better than either.)
I'm not saying they are lying or anything like that. I'm just pointing to what makes the difference between a test and a claim. ;)

I remember seeing it too. I forget where, but IIRC, it wasn't even a full degree unless you had fan blow cool air on the block, then you saw the full degree difference.Quote:

I never tested the HK 3.0 to the basically identical HK 3.0 LT, but Bundymania did. In his test, I think there was a 0.1° difference between the two and I am absolutely certain that this was a random variaton and not a real difference.
The copper top offers such minimal extra surface area that it can't really affect the performance.
Did you have any issues with the Yellowstone block HSME ? I can't get a proper fit with it on my unlapped i950. Mount is pretty poor here, even with the springs all the way tightened ( TIM imprint tells the tale time after time )
No, I had no problems with the Yellowstone at all.
Have you checked the base with a razor or something similar, to see if it's flat? I got a block with a bent (concave) base once, so I guess it can just happen that you get unlucky and get a warped base.
Don't know what else could explain the problem since the Yellowstone has a normal mounting mechanism.
Yeah that was what I needed to know, just wanted to the shape of your base... seems I got a bad sample, only hits the cores 1cm in with or so, rest of the TIM doesn't spread at all :(

I'm looking for something to replace my stock original D-Tek Fuzion on my Phenom II 945. My temps @ 1.50vcore 3.82ghz are low 40s idle... unless I crank my A/C. I'm not happy with these temps. I sit at around 40C idle maybe a bit less when AC is running.
I'm looking to spend ~$50 for a nice replacement block, but I haven't found a Phenom II waterblock review yet.
Have you considered the HK 3.0 LC for AM3 ($49) .. I have one and it performed pretty well on my CPU only loop.Quote:

The LC has a different inside layout than the Copper version and the LT which makes it lesser in cooling performance. Is has a better flow than the LT and Cu versions though.

enzotech because it's cheap and most freeflowing. Also, it's a pretty good performer thermally. Just wish it was available in canada.
