From 2 to 4 seconds max.
Most of the times the monitors I have here turn on after the system is back up and running ( I'm pressing the e-mail hot-key on the keyboard, and when the monitor is turned on outlook express is already checking the 5th e-mail account for new e-mails :D )
Classified 760 resumes in 2-3 seconds here and that's with 220 bclk LOL
Bump for this thread. I'm going to replace my motherboard in the next week and was curious about the state of play on the suspend (and other) issues.

I've tested 2x 760, plus a 759 classified. All three have very bad 10.5 to 14.5 second resume as follows: From power button to desktop reappearing, 6.5 seconds. After desktop, another 4-8 seconds the cursor is frozen, so resume takes between 10.5 and 14.5 seconds. Don't know why bluehaze is reporting 2-3, it just isn't so. The only thing that affects resume time is hard drive. The numbers I've shown is for a seagate 160 Gb ATA parallel interface which is the fastest, SATA drives are even worse. I've also tested 9 other x58 boards various brands, all have 5- 9 second resume, and don't vary with hard drive type.
Would you still recommend the UD5? Not sure if there have been any other BIOS updates. As long as the thing actually wakes, I'll be a happy camper. :)Quote:

my r2e will go into s3 one time, but then it wakes up on its own (no wake from anything in the bios), and the second time it will fail to post and it says overclocking failed after i reset it.
Just reporting that after updating from f4m to f8b sleep mode is working 100% on the gigabyte board, about a 4-5 sec resume time.
It sure is so, probably slower now that I have installed all my programs and usb devices seems like around 5 secs or so. There is definitely no wait once you get to the desktop either, something is wrong with your setup bro...Quote:

Thanks for the video it shows 11 second resume from power buttom to cursor moves on the screen. This is what I get when I have my PATA drive installed, only most of the time I get 6.5 seconds to desktop reappears, then another 4-5 seconds cursor is stuck for a total of 10.5-11.5 second resume absolute best case. That's with a brand new OS install, fastest hard drive, and short time in sleep. Typical case is 16 seconds.
The only thing "wrong" with my setup is I'm using a Classified mobo. The other nine x58 boards I've used with the same components / setting / software/config/os clocked in at a 100% repeatable
5-9 seconds. These mobos include MSI, Biostar, gigabyte, ASUS, and DFI. All had identical resume performance, Classified is the 'odd one out'.
If I use a SATA drive add another 3 seconds, this applies only to the classified. And if I'm in sleep for more than about five hours, add another 3 seconds to that.

You do understand the more devices you have hooked up the longer it takes because it has to poll all the devices and wake them up right? I'm not going to unhook all my USB it's too much a pia to get to everything but here with just unplugging the iphone it's down to 7 seconds hit the button between 12-13 seconds in and blue lights on monitor between 19-20 seconds in which is the last device it wakes up. You can see the cursor already moving when the screen appears none of this 4 second delay you are talking about.Quote:

No need to unplug anything, I've already done the experiment so I know the results. With nothing attached except my USB mouse and my PS/2 keyboard on a fresh install of Vista, no software installed except for vid card drivers, I get 6.5 seconds very consistently (power button to desktop appearing). This is with every different hard drive I tested which includes 750 HDDs from hitachi and samsung, a 160 GB seagate SATA, and a 160 GB seagate PATA.
What happens after the 6.5 seconds is variable. The two 750 GB cause stuck cursor for about 7-8 seconds, the PATA about 3-4 cseconds, and the 160 SATA seagate 0 seconds, the cursor moves instantly. The obvious conclusion is the HDD has a big impact on sleep mode resume. So now my 'official' s3 resume time is 6.5 seconds cause there's no stuck cursor period, but only with the seagate 160 SATA drive.
Thanks again for taking the trouble to do the videos. three seconds is impossible, that's faster than S1 resume.
Does anyone have any stats on how much power is actually saved during S3? From the look of it there should be almost no power draw at all, it seems to power down absolutely everything except the board and ram of course, but i don't know, maybe the savings aren't as high as i assume?
That is using an Intel x25m SSD...I don't know that it was 3 seconds exactly but it was pretty damn quick.Quote:

F8 does NOT do S3 at ALL on the X58-UD4P. F8a you say does it ok for you? I'm leary of installing a beta bios for fear of what else it will break. My OC is solid as a rock at 4ghz now and I don't want to break that just to get S3 working. It is a pain in the rear though as I hate to shut down my pc and wait for the boot time every day. I need my sleep functionality back!
try the bios releases at the tweaktown forums. They have a great support base if anything goes wrong - but their betas are usually rock solid. I think the most current version of UD4P bios is F9a - dunno though as I haven't been on there in a long time. F8a is perfect for me suspend/resume. :)
