Not using Everest to read those temps are you ??

Using RealTemp, Coretemp etc .. for me Idle Core #2 is always 5C higher than #0,1,3 .. but at load #0-2 equal out while #3 is about 5C less than the others .. weird

Meanwhile Everest reads them all similar - with #0-1 & #2-3 constantly showing identical readings in each pair ..

Either way I put it down to just variations in how the DTS are manufactured & calibrated from chip to chip & none of the programs can really read the Tjmax (hence work out true core temp) for each core properly anyway

What clock are you at for your 1.5V 70C readings ? Those are nice temps on air for that much voltage ! Might have to try the sandpaper myself . .

Im using Realtemp.
Im still messing with clocks but those temps are with 20*200 but running with 21*200 for 4200Mhz.
Something odd goes on with the multiplier - regardless of the asus "bug", I sometimes see 21*200 with 1.45+v pump into the core. According to the other thread I would expect to see that 21 drop to 20 but it doesnt seem to...not all the time anyway.

The CPU top was far from flat and took a good bit of sanding to flatten off.
It was like a ripple pattern, ridge around the very outside, peak in the middle and trough around that (does that make sense?). Im seeing similar drop in temps as I did with my 3.6ghz q6600 rig so I think its worthwhile.

I'm using Arctic Cooling MX-2 for thermal compound also used it on my 4870x2 and drop the temps 4 degrees celcius on idle

turning HT off is not that much cheating as it does not improve performance for many applications and lowers then in a few ones.

my idle temps are 30 29 29 29 and never reach 70ish ...witch i find ok in forcasting summer temps @75+ load ^^,

3,8 is a good oc @1,3v not pushing too much on the cpu and mobo great performance increase....

i love my rig! (eccept for video card :D)

btw i'm really positively surprise by the performance and silence @full RPM for the Cooler Master V8

Has ASUS fixed Vista Sleep Mode on the P6T deluxe, or is it still broken?

As near as I can tell it's still borked, which is sort of sad considering how long its been.

Which bios have you tested it with?

1003 only.

Glad I'm not the only one .. I got the sleep bug too on 1003 ..

Not that it bothers me much .. standby is for work laptops with heaps of IT junk installed .. always prefer a fresh boot for my gaming rig .. nice and quick with a barebones Vista installation ..

On another topic: What are peoples Motherboard temps like ???

I was getting about 34C Idle on a typical cool day .. but its gone up to 36-37C now I've fitted dust filters over both the main intake fans on the HAF ..

TBH, it doesn't bother me all that much either as long as I can have solid gaming. It would be "nice" if everything functioned as advertised, though. 35c for MB right now using Everest in a cool room. It's 10 degrees outside. It jumps up about like yours too. I've got a 40mm in low-ball mode attached to the NB. It looks real cute! :D The HAF is a great looking case, BTW. :up:

So you've got the 40mm fan on the NB using the standoffs supplied eh ..

Did it make much diff to the MB temps when you installed it ?

Yup, at full blast, reporting 8200rpm, maybe 2c. When its turned down it seems ether equal to stock or the difference isn't measurable.

If your talking about the MB temperature not changing much with the NB fan .. then thats not suprising since (as I just learned) the MB sensor is nowhere near the NB .. its actually behind PCI2 slot - likely covered by your Grahpics card if you have a big 2-slotter like mine - which explains why MB temperature seems to go up when gaming or graphics benching ..

So you *are* probably doing your NB a lot of favours anyway .. if only bloody ASUS put an actual NB temp sensor !

after my lapping excercise and fiddling with the system today, the temps across all four cores are now within 1degC - beofre they were 5degC

I'm also seeing throttling of my DVD ripping speeds as reported in my other thread. Im not sure if this is a ICH10R limitation or an Asus issue. Seeing max speed from DVD DL rip at 11500kb/s -> 12500Kb/s.

Running BIOS 1003 now too.

On topic of temps .. does anyone else fine a 10C difference between CPU Case Temp as reported by Everest vs. ASUS PC Probe ??

ie. If I run Everest first it reads about 30C .. if I load PC Probe it jumps up on both to about 40C - this also matches the BIOS CPU temp reading ..

So which to believe ? I suppose the BIOS would be the correct one eh.

After idling most of the night I'm seeing 3-4c difference between the CPU case and the cores, the cores being higher. CPU case temp in Everest matches PCProbe perfectly.

So I've heard about 'barebones' vista, but what is it and how do I get it? Is it standard Vista with mods, or a seperate product altogether? Most importantly, how many seconds from cold power button turn on to fully booted in desktop with drivers loaded?

I think its the opposite of Vista with mods... unless I'm mixed up isn't it Vista stripped down to the metal so that it rund faster?

When you look at the temps tonight .. try a little test for me if you can ..

*Disable* PC Probe from starting automatically (if its set to do so) .. upon clean reboot just start Everest alone - no PC Probe or any other temp software ..

See if it still reads CPU temp the same as you expect .. start PC Probe and see if the readings jump at all ..

Here, it's been sitting for a while: 28c for the CPU case, physical cores 1 and 2 are 32c, cores 3and 4 are 30c. Room temp is about 69F.

Woh .. and PC Probe confirms this temperature ?

Do me another test if you can .. Check your BIOS CPU temp !!

Its in the Hardware Monitor under the Power Settings menu ..

I find the BIOS temperature reads higher on mine than PC Probe .. which is to say about 35C at stock settings .. 40C at 4Ghz overclock

Why would you disable the Prefetcher and cache?

Just got my 920 today with the plain P6T (got the plain because of the pci slot located at the bottom where I wanted it). I went for a conservative overclock of 3.5 gig. CPU and QPI/DRAM voltages at 1.25 volts, memory at 1.64 volts, turbo boost on, hyperthreading on, everything else on auto. Memory running at 700mhz. Very stable so far with good temps. I hit the above first try right out of the gate with no glitches at all. I'm sure this will go higher but I'm pretty satisfied with it as it is.
