Very few board 'manufacturers' actually manufacture their boards, they just design and market them. Foxconn makes most of the boards you see.
Ill be getting one of these but only for the time being until foxconn releases the blood rage
Why cant they make room for Soundcards if the are building MB's that are designed for 3-way SLI. That is the most annoying thing when 3-way is normally built for hardcore gamers.... which usually need hardcore sound !!!
Comeon and help a brother out EVGA!
And yes i know there is the tiny PciE but the fan blocks any possible use...

i know, 3way sli with crappy onboard sound, sounds like a bad idea.
then DONT 3 way if you want SOUND.
sheesh, 3-way is really only a bench utility at this point. by the time it becomes as useful as we would like it to be, I would imagine 10-slot PCI will become a new board format standard.

The PCIex1 position is really not optimal.
Also, is this board certified for 12G? I mean really certified, not like all of the other eVGA stuff that says it supports 8G but is a crapshoot at best?
You can 3-way and have amazing sound.
Just spend a couple thousands on a high end receiver, and connect with SPDIF. Then spend a couple thousands on speakers, and a few couple thousands on headphone gear.
Hey, if you are going to spend that much money to get 3-way SLI, which implies you have already spent the money for a 30 inch monitor (otherwise you should be swallowed by a tiger for even considering 3-way SLI)... whats a few thousands more.
If you are a gamer, you know you cannot get 5.1 surround sound out of spdif, all that talk above was jiberish, nothing that make sense, shows alot about the poster. Also 3 way SLI scales pretty good, and im sure many people will want to try 3x 260gts sli for $850, thats the same as gtx 280 sli, its a good idea to think before talking.
If you are a true gamer you will use 2 channel stereo and a good pair of headphones. 5.1 sound is only needed for DD and DTS, which goes through SPDIF just fine. And even then, downmixed stereo + a good set of headphones will sound better unless you go spend 10 grand to build a really high end speaker system around your PC. It is indeed a good idea to think before talking, cuz not everbody shares the same opinion, for me 2 channel stereo pure sound is all that matters.
PS. You can also encode DD 5.1 Live on the fly, I'm not sure if there are any boards with onboard sound that feature this, I know sound cards do but thats against what were talking about. Anyways I never even tried using DD Live or DTS Connect, cuz frankly I dont really give a damn. I have two high end speakers, and a pair of high-end headphones, and thats all I need. Well actually I wish I could upgrade both, but it would still be Stereo.
You are telling me what a true FPS fan needs... funny.
I've been playing cs 1.6 since probably before you even played pc games at all, and god knows how important positional sound is in cs. I guarantee you that my positional sound using just stereo + headphones is far better then yours. And maybe cs 1.6 is a bad example because it doesn't even support surround sound, but I'll take you to the test in any FPS game.
Anybody who has ever played a game at my house which they regularly play at home, inevitably says that I cheat because my sound is so much better. But nobody can get a grip that I spent hundreds on my headphones alone.
Mine is better than your, hahaha ok this is where this convo ends. You are confident you know my age? don't assume you know me, play however you like, dont get personal. Considering i am in my mid 20's you can be sure i played CS before it was even released, and i can care less for that game. I dont have time to be a "professional gamer", fortunately i have a life.
Just a head's up, the EVGA X58 is now on Newegg:

By the way, EVGATech_ShaneD at the EVGA Forums was kind enough to upload the X58 manual so we can look through it early:

Enjoy. ;)
It's also at Tiger Direct
