nuts24, that is possible and it means that AutoClock found the limit, you can return to the last good value by hitting reset, rebooting OS and loading AOD and clicking "apply settings" under the AutoClock tab.
edit: and please update to 2.1.4 before trying again (make sure to remove the old xml files from AOD installation folder as well)
Sorry to hear that Polaco. From the description it sounds like there is a problem with HT ref. clock adjustment. Which BIOS version on the MSI board (I assume the latest?). a BIOS spin could solve this one.
Also, please make sure you shut down other monitoring / overclocking apps before running AOD. Apps like CoreCenter, CPUZ, HWMonitors, GPUZ etc. These might cause conflicts.
Thanks for the update, Macci.
By the way, regarding the coldbug issues some people experience here. Are they really 100% cpu related? IIRC, when the Phenom was not out on the market, you said you were able to bench at -70°C. Were you really?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=125
I never said I was able to bench at -70C I said that the earlier (pre-production) parts would boot fine at -80C (agreed - it was an unneeded comment :D). at that point I had not tried the production version - and as you know its a bit different story. the sweet spot right now seems to be chilled water or a bit below zero.
You answered what was needed to raise interest, no hard feelings. The reason why I ask is because I have been able to bench at -35°C and have 0 coldbug issues, while other people have issues at +5°C or even higher. I know that coldbugs are mainly cpu related, but I find it quite hard to believe that mine does so well under cold while the stepping/batch are nothing close to being special.
Is it possible that certain motherboards don't cope with sub 10°C cpu's? Tye mentioned somethings about the K10 IMC temperature rates being around 10°C (will look that up).
as i said before i can name you 100 pieces of software that work flawlessly on windows, after half of the revisions
yes i do speak longer, its called having something to say, unlike you, who decides to flame bait with stupid comments, how you work out im shouting is beyond me, you got a microphone in my house?...lolQuote:
The only bully I see in this thread is you. You shout louder, longer, and more often than anyone else here. Might I invite you to visit another thread.
and so we kick off with v2.1.4, anyone got a problem?...lol
then it doesnt do what it is supposed to do, therefore a fail...lolQuote:
Only problem I have is only 1 GPU is shown.
and so we kick off with v2.1.4, anyone got a problem?...lol
AOD v2.1.4., here we go again (all performed on a clean image (no previous AOD) of Vista 32 bit)
1) lock up and squeeling from speakers, when HT ref slider moved by 5 mhz and hitting apply, (rig at stock 2.5 gig, stock multi and stock HT ref in bios)
2) moving multi slider from 12.5 to 13 results in same lock up as above
2) nothing but temps in status monitor/ board status
3) nothing in GPU status (cause its an nvidia card doh)
4) system information/diagram view no card detected in any Pcie slot
same old, same old here, as far as i can see nothing has changed, how you doing macci with that new AX78 of yours?
i will give this poll 7 more days, combining input from other users at AMD forums, and two other well known forums, i fully intend to publish these results, good or bad, using this and other data to back up my claims. including me, i have allready seen 5 to 6 cases of this not doing anything new, and has not fixed a number outstanding issues, that were meant to be addressed in the 2.1.4. release.
since the last 'discussion' i have managed to get hold of two other mob's, for the purposes of being fair, i wll not mention the makers, other than i have 1 more SB600based board, and one SB750 based board, both leave a lot to be desired with AOD 2.1.4. so far, although i have still to bench them with a 9850BE yet, both have been benched with 5000BE x2.
and of course i will pass on my results ...lol
let the flame baiting begin...lol
Your problem is the simple fact that abit did not support AOD functionality with the AX78. If the BIOS support is not there, then AOD is not going to operate correctly. Change boards or complain to abit, otherwise you will continue to have problems. It really is that simple.
i do hear you and have taken it on board, but its not about ABIT, where does it say in this release that it works on certain boards? and doesnt for others.
in the marketing it states you need a 7 series chipset, i have it. but AOD doesnt work. who's fault is that? AMD like any other designer has tight control on there 'referance' designs, hence why nearly all the 770 boards are the same.
as for changing boards, you didnt read my post correctly, i bnow have three mobo's here, 2 x sb600's and 1 x SB750, all are showing problems with AOD, granted small probs, but probs all the same.
it is really that simple :shakes:
ohh and for every post i have here telling me i am at fault or the board is at fault or andy pandy is at fault, i have one that says otherwise, i also have a lot of support in this, i dont stand alone here, like a newbie. i know exactly what i am talking about. and will continue with this until i see an acceptable resolution. ie: if AMD releases this software with a compatible board list.
I'll check that. It worked perfectly with the old green theme though, this started happening with the new gui.
Well, I've tested by switching from Classic to XP and then it works. Though, I really hate the bloated XP look so I quickly switched back to classic and I guess I have to live with this until there is a fix.
AOD is a system tool and a free one at that, so complaints about how well it works or demanding resolution about a program you did not pay for is just funny to me. ;) I am not going to say that the base code has not had problems, it has but AMD has fixed it rather quickly after being notified about issues. However, it is up to the board suppliers as to how well they will support it within their BIOS. This covers the gambit from simply reporting correct clock or thermal numbers to actually allowing changes to various BIOS options.
AMD does not control the BIOS designs of the various board manufacturers. They provide core code and it is up to the supplier whether to use it as is or to customize for their particular purposes. As such, once they customize the BIOS, all bets are off about the level of integration with AOD. I know AMD receives BIOS releases from each supplier on a periodic basis and they do their best to incorporate particular hooks into the program to ensure "best possible" results at that point in time.
So, if you want to know if your board is fully compatible or not with AOD, write the board supplier and find out. If you do not like the level of support, then complain to the board suppliers. If you find a true problem with the program like we did with the AHCI/RAID bug with ACC, then notify AMD.
AMD has never guaranteed this program to be compatible with every board, nor the should they as it is the board suppliers responsibility to determine it. If you do not like the program, then do not use it, nobody is forcing you to try a free program. If you want to overclock, use the BIOS and be done with it if AOD is not working for you.
Also, your statements are confusing to say the least, in one section you state the program does not work and in the next you state it does but with small problems. Which is it?
This is no different then the "I hate M$ because they can't guarantee everything works perfectly in Windows" when Microsoft has no control over other people drivers and software.
2.14 is looking good, I now have ACC available in the app while using AHCI just as promised. I'll play with it a bit and report back.
sweet. i am going to reload with AHcI and see how it does.
Soundood,
Please post a poll for each of these 100 pieces of software that work flawlessly for you.
Yes, you continue to speak and speak and speak. But you ran out of things to say days ago. Everyone here knows your feelings on AOD, yet you continue to expound, ad nauseum, along the same line. And you have no desire to find a solution or cause.
Yes, I do have an issue with AOD, but I do not find it useless. Perfection is not attainable, no matter how much you desire it.
Flame baiting? Me thinks you protest too much.
I don't use it for overclocking but... I do like that Stability Tester and Monitor. It'll tell ya real quick how your OC is.
Macci thank you
Some of the stuff i posted about is now fix with the 2.1.4 one of the big thing was the ACC if i want to use it in AOD i can now and it has the board setting i'am using right now . The the HT mulit is right now showen as 10 as it should for how i got the board set . Be nice if the GPU stuff all posted right but that a fix for another day. The point being is on my rig AOD got better, is it all fix nope .But as long as you can see it getting better i think is all you can ask for and it free.
i would say it works very well, 3544 mhz http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=773427 i see 3.5 or maybe 3.6 0n h2o coming soon. i think i will try to use aod to do it .
Thanks for the update, ACC now works with Raid for me.
Makes it a little easier to tinker with the ACC settings rather
than rebooting every time to test.
macci all iterations I have used in 3 of my Gigabyte boards (790FX-DQ6, 780G-S2H and 790GP) have worked flawlessly. Thankyou. :)
I should add that I'm using Vista x64.
soundood your treatment and abuse to/of macci is deplorable.
He has spent thousands of hours here helping people with AMD related problems and isn't an XIP for nothing.
Pls show some respect.
Hi macci,
I have flashed the motherboar BIOS to it's lastest version with MSI update utility and BANG! AOD start working like a charm. I was using bios version 1.6 and now 1.7. So everyone who has an K9A2 cf f v2 should do that.
I have been running some 3dmark06 benchmarks and point hasn't increased using the AOD novice mode on level "4". But doesn't matter.
Would be great to have some reference guide/information from AMD/ATI as:
-what does each part of the system work for interactions with others parts.
-which are considered "safe" oc values and what is better to oc and what not, and other things to consider.
For instance if you increase this feature also check this other..
Now we have a lot of control on speed but if we don't know how to use it and each feature risk we could end up melting or hardware for nothing.
thanks a lot macci.
Polaco.
Thanks for the tips macci, but v2.1.4 of AOD did not work for me, I think the motherboard is at fault & I have sent it back. I now have my old motherboard back in & can not use AOD. I am now waiting on a refund so I can buy my next board, but will not be buying Asus again. My old motherboard the M2N32-SLI Delux took 4 repairs and two exchanges (Total time to get a working board 14 weeks), the new Asus board I got looks like it could be faulty as well.
So do I go cheap and get the Biostar 790GX or do go high and get the Gigabyte 790GX? or do I wait and hope a better board comes out using the SB750 chipset?
You can restore the old green AOD theme - that's actually what I meant by "switching to the classic skin" (not Windows OS theme).
I posted the instructions and the AOD classic Green theme skin file HERE
hope that will work as a hotfix until a new release is available to fix this properly
