ATI 4870X2 voltmod thread

Two of these and an i7 brought my Silverstone 1200 to its knees also, only way to get it to work was switch the switch on the PSU to single rail. Not impressed with these PSU at all compared to a 750w PCP&C or Corsair 850 that will will run the same rig with no problems...

I've found vorking softvoltmod on this card, but I have another question: what voltage is safe enough for this card? That wouldn't cause video chip degradation

1.4 should be fine (not for air)
for air you will not gain allot of clocks with volts, maybe from 850 to 865. but the card needs to be colder.

1.3 should be ok for air

I'm using water. But on degault 1,26 I can't get more than 840 MHz. Maybe it's couse of sing two 4870x2 in crossfire. Using 1,4 I could get stable 900 MHz.
