I'm really getting crazy... today I spent 4 hrs getting my comp to boot with both Team Xtreem ram sticks and then I switch to ram slot 2 and 4 and it boots on the first try? Why is all this happening to me ffs. The weird part is once I get it to boot it works all good but booting is really difficult. I did need 2.25v tho or it wouldn't boot. If I use 2.225v it won't boot, and if I use 2.25v it will boot and superpi, memtest etc doesn't report any problems... what's up with that? I mean if the RAM stick is bad then why wouldn't any stability tests show any problems? I somehow don't think it's the ram slots that are damaged either as it works if I put the ram stick in that doesn't have any problems booting and is stable etc and with the Cellshock kit it boots always at first try if I use slot 1 and 3, then again that kit has screwed up on me too after a week or two or so usage, and I do see a reason to try put them in slot 2 and 4 for testing's sake but then again after 4hrs of trying to get the comp boot with 2 ram sticks, I don't feel like taking the risk and turning it off again.
I won't shut down this comp EVER again, dunno if it will boot again or not. :rofl:
I've already applied RMA for the Cellshock PC2-8000CL5 kit I bought and as a replacement I suggested Team Xtreem PC2-6400 4-4-4-10 with D9GMH chips... I'm done with D9GKX... If also the new kit will fail I'll prolly move on to powerchip or something and leave the buggy but o/c friendly micron sticks alone.
Whatever it's bugged ram sticks or motherboard I don't know yet... a mobo replacement just in case is getting more and more interesting though.
I had the same problem with my HZ's a few months back, it would work perfectly when its on, but once i turned it off I could not get it to turn back on unless i tried for like 50 times. Turns out the RAM was dying as a cheapo pair from staples booted just fine. RMA for a new pair of HZ's and now i dunno what to do with it as I sold my computer parts.
On topic, I've got some 2,5v 700c5 32m stable sticks :D Validated up to 775 so far ;)

I know Team RMA sucks ass I wouldn't bother with it. :p
Well these Team sticks are early D9GMH from 2005 (had another owner b4 me though) and I run my comp 24/7 almost so they've been in use for a while. On the other hand the CellShocks only lasted like 1½ weeks. :p:
Also a BIG plus is that the sticks are more stable than for a long time now I think after switching to slot 2 and 4. Even UT3 hasn't crashed today and I played it for nearly 3 hrs. Despite being Orthos stable 7hrs+, superpi 32M and memtest passes for hours and hours without errors, UT3 still has crashed on me quite a lot for a while now which I figured might be due to slight ram unstability despite stress tests doesn't show it but somehow UT3 doesn't seem to crash now either.
Looks like I'll have to give up my quest to find a kit that can do 600MHz CAS4. I've tested my Ballistix 6400 CAS3 (two kits), Dominator 8500, CellShock 8000 CAS5, Geil 9280 CAS4 and just-received Team Xtreem 9600 CAS5 with no luck. I pushed VDIMM as high as 2.60V. I don't see how this guy got his CellShock 9200 CAS5 that high with only 2.40V set in BIOS...
Bad luck about the dead ram guys. Always sucks when sticks die. The reason they will run fine but not boot is because they are damaged in such a way that they need more than stock voltage to boot up. Some can still boot at stock volts but can't overclock as high, some are like yours & are still basically the same but need more volts to boot, and some get lots of errors and cease to function properly. Electromigration causes different effects in different situations.
I'd say your board has some major ripple/bad vdimm regulation if it killed cellshocks in 1.5 weeks, unless the modules were already faulty.
GenAn - What will you sticks do CAS 4 at 2.6v? It may be the board needing a lot of vNB (vMCH) to hit that high CAS 4. What board are you using?
I want some of those cell shockers. I think I'll replace my mushkins with em. I havn't noticed any slowdowns with 2GB from 4 tbh. A higher speed mem will ease my oc of it. :) thanks for the thread.
I have a Maximus Formula flashed to a Rampage. I think I tried VMCH as high as 1.65V in tandem with VDIMM approaching 2.6V. I have some new Team 1200s to play with, but so far they haven't been able to manage CAS4 very high. I could just be my inexperience in overclocking, haven't been doing this very long.
There seems to be some speculation as to what these are, as the kit is clearly single-sided but no one knows anything about Elpida making 128Mbit ICs, but there's the whole "E" at the end of the barcode. Confusing.
[EDIT]I noticed these have a slightly different model number than the D9 kit. These are TX1200QLU-2GK, the D9 kits are TX1200QLJ-2GK.[/EDIT]
On an unrelated note, I managed just under DDR2-1300 with my Team Xtreem 1200 kit on my P5B Deluxe, which doesn't normally clock RAM very well :up: :D

My E8200 doesn't go much higher than 4000, so I think better timings is the way to go. Which pair do you think will get better timings at 1000Mhz, maybe 1100 when I change my HS? I'm still with the Intel lol.

Nice ram, they should be good. I just bought 2 kits of the PC 8000 4-4-4-12 (GKX) Cellshock.
Intel rigs do have better bandwidth and performance using higher clocks & lower latency. Do some tests and figure out what works best for your system, at voltages you're comfortable with.

I would have to disagree with you WaterFlex. On 400FSB for instance, I get higher bandwidth and lower latency on my Maximus formula with memory at 600MHz CAS5 PL5 than with it at 400MHz CAS3 PL6.
DDR2-1200 5-5-5-x would have a bit higher b/w than DDR2-1000 4-4-4-x and latency should be around the same depending on ur fsb config. But DDR2-1000 4-4-4-x is a really good 24/7 DDR2 ram config anyways. DDR2-1200 is usually harder to reach and it's more stressful for the mobo too. I wasn't able to run DDR2-1200 on my config with 8x500 using divider 1.2x and voltage 2.3v or less with either the Cellshock PC2-8000 5-5-5-15 (D9GKX?) sticks or my Team Xtreem DDR2-667 3-4-4-8 (D9GMH) but my Team clocks better and was able to do it in single channel at least so it might just be my mobo that have probs with dual channel in DDR2-1200 (tried upping NB volts quite a lot too) and the Cellshocks didn't seem to like this board or maybe the bios version possibly (will switch back to the older and faster bios when I get the new CellShock sticks from RMA).
Running 500x8 1:1 DDR2-1000 4-4-4-8 25-11-11-5-5 Performance Lvl 7 w/ BIOS v14 on my IP35 Pro I get ~9950MB/s read and ~49ns latency in Everest benchmark which I'm quite satisfied with. At 1.2x divider with 500 fsb DDR2-1200 5-5-5-15 I'd expect it to be around 10050 ~ 10100 MB/s read and 47~49ns or so.
I have problems with the Cellshock 8000 CAS5 reaching DDR2-1200 myself. It was easiest on my Striker Extreme. However, my Ballistix 8500, Reaper 8500, Dominator 6400C3, and Team Xtreem 19600 can do 1200 with about 2.15V real on the Maximus, and VMCH at 1.45V for PL5 on 266 strap/400FSB.
I bought the 8500s because:
1) I get 1066Mhz guaranteed
2) Were cheaper than GKXs 8000 (11€ with shipment)
3) Never had a pair of the famous D9GMH lol
4) I thought that being higher binned from factory than the 6400 GMHs, could be easier to get 1200, but I know nothing's for sure.
5) GKX like more voltage, GMHs never more than 2.24v.
Anyways, at those prices, I can get a pair of GKXs if what I get is not very good :)
