You dont need to pay for something that is already there. Just use Quadro cards, and SLI works perfectly fine with official drivers on X38, X48 etc.Quote:

no confusion at all (almost...), it was stated when we got the first rumors from misc web sites that even though NVidia would sell NForce chips for mobo manufacturers to implement on their X58 boards, they also acquired a QPI license allowing them to make their complete own chipsets if they wanted to. It was also said that they don't intend to in the beginning (search Vzone forum news...), at least on high end motherboards (Bloomfield/Tylersburg)...now I also read somewhere on the web yesterday that Intel and NVidia are conflicting on the subjet, where as NVidia takes an earlier (2006...) agreement for granted (granting them the right to acquire any new Intel chipset technology for a couple of years), Intel saying there's a "misunderstanding"...Quote:

According to news reports from the web, NVIDIA has acquired the rights to use the Intel QPI technology. The interesting development is that NVIDIA has no interest in developing a new chipset to support the LGA1366 Nehalem chipset. Instead, it will supply it's nForce 200 bridge chip (BR04) to have SLI support on the Intel X58 platforms.
If I were a mobo maker I wouldn't touch this, these chips won't be cheap and quality control will be a nightmare. It just isn't worth the effort for the potential sales.
Two days later, has any mobo maker signed up to make one yet? If so it'll probably be a previously burnt nvidia partner.

This chip is bunk, methinks, but I could be wrong. Even dual screen while IN SLI works with Quadro. Nvidia is playing "not for this market" games with us the end users.
See if they allowed SLI on X58 with X16's then it would be pretty easy to hack to allow on any chipset. With that 200 chip they get to "check" to see if you have it before allowing SLI. With Quadro you pay 1-2k per card and gain SLI otherwise as a free add on. haha Nice...

The Quadro performance drivers shouldn't be bad according to some in DX3D gaming.
i dont think you get any sli profils for the quadro drivers for games, its a whole different driver.
do you ever bother thinking before you write. SLI is disabled by Nvidia via software on chipsets other than theirs, they are adding useless hardware simply for licensing reasons.Quote:
