For example, I will never ever again buy nForce based board as long as NVIDIA is having monopol on SLI on motherboards and same goes for GeForces. 300+€ for motherboard that is only good for running SLI, you must be joking...

And same goes for every one of you! If you all run into stores and buy new 790i board for 360€, 890i will be 450€.

Erm...you did see the 600+ FSB and spanking3DMark scores on the previous pages, right?

All evidence is that this chipset isn't "only good for SLi", it's one of the best SocketT boards yet.

I haven't seen 650+ FSB and I have seen it on 100€ Intel based board released in 2006 and I am quite confident that 2D, 3D Single card and non QX benching will stay on Intel based boards.

Never said it wasn't mate. But you can't deny that you need the hardware as well - you can't pull a WR out of a s478 Dell beige box.

Again, never said that we haven't. I'm merely pointing out that there is no reason to dismiss this chipset just because it's an nVidia offering. They've come to the party, and now they need some recognition.

Read my post. Read the post I replied to. I'm not an nVidia fanboi for pointing out that it is wrong to dismiss the 790i as "only good for SLi".

Bottom line - I couldn't care less if this was an Intel, AMD or VIA chipset - gross generalisations and off-hand dismissals help noone and nothing.

you have to look it at different perspective. for ex.:

1st
You don't have a lot of money for comp stuff and like every smart person you won't buy two card system and you want the best performance for 2D and 3D and best overclockability. Any nForce board it at the very end of my list.

2nd
You have a little more money so two card system is an option so now you have to choose betwen CrossFire or SLI, you can't have both cause we are not $ loaded yet. If you choose CF, you'll have Intel based board that rocks 2D benching and not so bad at 3D. 3DMark01 sux, but 03, 05 and 06 are in pair with SLI. If you choose SLI you can forget 2D benching or Single Card benching but you'll have some decent results in 3D.
And there are some other things to consider, SLI costs much much more, you'll have constant headaches when overclocking, you'll have to give but loads of $ for graphic cards and now days 3D records are divided into graphic card models, vendors, single, multiple, so it's not really that important what you're benching as long as it's top benching :D.

So now we come to loaded, millionaire category, where you can just buy everything you want, so there is really no need for reasons.

Strikers are always expensive as hell, I would bet the msrp of the evga is lower.

Who knows, maybe we'll start seeing single video card records on NVIDIA chipset finally....would that change your tune ZBORG? :shrug:

Which cards? ULTRA? GTS? Does it matter? This thread is about 790iSLI the motherboard, not graphics cards. Why should I send your friend any of my cards? I have every good P5K board made here with me not to mention X38.
Your preaching to the choir dude, every single card score I have ever made has pretty much been on INTEL chipset lol.

Question of heat on what? MOBO? This motherboards NB/SB is CRAZY cool compared to 680i boards. You could burn your fingers on striker 680i SB I swear it ran so damn hot. Even the 780i board put out a good ammount of heat on NB, but this mobo is very different. Running 450+ on quad 2006 is nowhere near same heat output. That was the first thing I noticed when I fired it up...BIG DIFFERENCE.

Honestly I kinda understand his/that logic based on precedent set with "some" past chipsets. Haven't done any direct comparisons in 3d or pi with intel chipset, so I can't sit here and say one thing or another
This thread is about the performance in SLI I'm seeing with the higher FSB capabilities of this chipset + DDR3 using current generation video cards on AIR(GTS's). Compared to what I was doing before..It's nice :D.
There is a reason why I'm using GTS as it makes it more clear for guys with older boards/same cards. No next gen cards for smoke and mirrors. It's all the board.
First full LN2 runs this week will be with ULTRA's....now how old are those cards?

Like nobody tested 790i Ultra SLI motherboard in Superpi at 5700MHz, 600FSB, 1000MHz DDR3 already?
And I got Asus Striker II Formula last week and some things just don't change.

and for me 8800 Ultra is as much graphic card as Enzo Ferrari is road car :D

p.s. I really think that there is as much Enzos in my country as there are Ultras
