I tried, but with the ordinary Xigmatek HDT-S1283: I put: LGA775 Bolt-Thru-Kit with Screws & Springs to the cooler: http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...775_bolt/1.jpg
There is the TRUE аnd Xigmatek in boxes:

I tested with two Titans to 2000 rpm fans.
Lets the Mortal Kombat begin:

I think this is a good cooler. I hope I was useful:-)

n00b here just want to share some pics and screenshots...I wish I could help you folks but I barely know how to put together a pc, just not my day job.
My drama are posted at forum.uabit under IP35 PRO build story
new pictures of the Abit IP35 PRO w/ E8400 cooled by Xigmatek RedScorpion S1283
http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/1...tip3uq1.th.jpg
http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/1...tip3us7.th.jpg...as you can see here, its more like orange than red---for a red scorpion---kinda misleading...but Xigmatek does say white LEDs.
Next pictures show some rubbing action..don't know if there will be any heat transfer

the one positive thing about this Xigmatek is this spoiler that cools the mosfets???...but the spoiler is very loose...I need to glue it down (is that a bad idea?) or maybe use those plastic ties:rolleyes:
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/664...tip3oc9.th.jpg
I wonder if I could add a fan here to "pull" hot air from the CPU cooler.
Any thoughts?
Any suggestions/ideas/thoughts (negative or positive) are welcome...I'm still taking baby-steps in pc building:up:
btw its quiet enough I sometimes forget its "on"

angelreaper which mobo do you have?
About the spoiler, I didn't even bother installing it. It was so loose, it just constantly fell out.
Had I installed it anyway, it didn't actally deflect the air onto the mosfets. The mosfets on my board are a little farther to the rear of the board.
If you have a heatsink over your mosfets, and the heatsink is tall enough, it'll get air from the cpu HSF, so no need. I guess your milage may vary on the deflector thingie, but it was no use to me.
yeah for the 27$ these are on newegg right now they are a steal.. they are not quite a true but imo for nearly 1/4 of the price by the time you buy a fan for the true
mine just came in today ill post up some results as soon as i can...

You better be prepared guys, I just heard a rumor that Xigmatek will release a S1284 soon :D
That is 4 heatpipes in 8mm with HDT... I think TRUE will get some serious competition!
/Thomas
Yeah, they should release a backplate solution...
A reason could be, that the harder mount would create problems with base deformation as earlier seen?
Anyways, you should be able to use Thermalrights 775 backplate?
/Thomas
i appreciate you guys posting all this information, i have been unable to get alot of my "extra curricular activity's" done with my current schooling situation, trying to become an IT guy here. :) Soon as i have a spare moment ill have to get some tests on the red scorpion and TRUE i have here.
What kind of temps are you people getting compared to scythe infinity? I'm thinking about changing to HDT-S1283. Reason for that is infinitys almost impossible assembly/disassembly with gigabyte S775 mobos. Especially 965P-DS4.
Spawn32, won't the line method of thermal paste require you to mount the S1283 with the fan blowing up towards the PSU or down towards the GPU?... On my 780i board, with a Q6600 CPU, mounting the S1283 with the fan blowing out the rear exaust leaves the exposed heat pipes parallel to the line method required for the CPU.
I'm banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to mount this thing for the best effect.
Thanks for the help your Sticky on aircooling is awesome!
Spawne32 cleared this up in another post... I had to install it fan blowing up, but installing an exhaust fan at the top of the case should make this orientation acceptable.
Also in case anyone gets the Thermaltake 775 bolt-through kit, use the bolts, the back plate from the kit, and use the brackets that come with your Xigmatek... just rip off the plastic pins. I've seen a few posts about using the TRUE bracket which you have to bend or loosen to put on the Xigmatek. Don't bother with this as the bolts work great in place of the pins with the stock Cooler brackets.
