Most of the people will probably be stuck at 500FSB - 550FSB with this board too.
This is not motherboard but a cpu related "issue".
FSB this high takes alot from the cpu too and most of the current B-stepping chips are limited to 550FSB max.
Most of the worst cpus I tested did 520FSB - 533FSB and some of the better 550FSB (in the same motherboard). The best chip I have personally seen is my old E6600 (L630A).
It did 570FSB without any problems all day long, but 575FSB locked immediately.
There are few things that can limit the FSB capabilities of a cpu.
GTLREF voltages - Without the rework (either by you or the manufacturer) this is always the biggest reason on Kentsfield, rarely on Conroe.
CPU Internal FSB PLL voltage - As far as I know there are only few motherboards that are able to adjust this voltage. In my case adjusting this voltage gave additional 25FSB (570FSB -> 595FSB) boost in the maximum benchable FSB ;)
I´ll bet that Oskar has played around with this one too to make the cpu reach 632FSB :D
I did not even search the optimal "window" I just raised the voltage a bit.
The stock voltage is 1.5V and it can be adjusted on Asus P5K-series boards and most likely on LanParty X38-T2R & P35-T2R too :D
On Asus boards this voltage is labeled as "CPU PLL Voltage".
This voltage can be adjusted between 1.5V - 1.8V on P5K Deluxe and set either to 1.5V or 1.7V on P5K Vanilla.
NOTE: This voltage is tied with the SB voltage on Asus boards so you must enhance SB cooling before raising this voltage!

Am using the original OCZ Powerstream 520w Single Rail with DFI Dark and it squeals even @ STOCK mobo + cpu + ram settings. It makes a variable squeak when I scroll up and down in Internet Explorer..... :D
Because of this, I have not updated my Sig and my H2o build is on hold..... :(
Most P35 motherboards can do 600+ FSB as wel as 965 i think. It is cpu. Cold helps a lot. I gained about 35mhz with same settings going from air to stock mach II. I bet Oskar is using something wayyy colder :D

AFAIK, I think the only real wait atm is the cooling solution. Perhaps a month minimum is getting somewhere towards realistic, AFAIK no sample boards have gone out yet for beta testing. Though it seems things are progressing quite well...
The images you see are direct from DFI, I guess voltage ranges will go up when sample boards go out to the testers, so it's a little early atm. I would expect plenty of overhead, as in most Lanparty boards..

Will there ever be a time when DFI isn't the last manufacturer on the block to come up with a mobo solution when new chipsets come out? Every single time DFI is always the Johnnycomelate of the mobo world. It is very frustrating :shakes:

Apologies if it sounds negative, just trying to give some constructive criticism here. The thing is by the time samples have been sent out etc it's looking like September at the earliest for release pure speculation of course, by which time Asus, Gigabyte, Abit will be launching the X-38 Motherboards, DFI need to be quicker otherwise the people who don't preach each day to DFI will purchase whichever boards are available first regardless of which boards come out as King of the Overclockers & thus DFI miss out on huge sales. Of course this is all irrelavant on here as it's an xtreme enthusiast forum & dedicated to overclocking etc.
Does DFI come under a Tier 1 motherboard manufacturer?
I must have been extremely lucky with my DFI P965-S? Worked out of the box with an E6600 and Corsair 520W. And the BIOS was almost optimally configured already - it's like it did most of the tweaking for me. No squealing issue, either. Performance is fantastic and I like the all aluminum caps, too. Finally a chance to retire my Opteron rig, which was also built on DFI board (SLI-DR).
Asus & Gigabyte are first because they're the biggest players & hence are at the head of the queue for cooperation with people like Intel, nVidia etc.Quote:
