you have not said what program you were using to read the temps from the quad core...i presume coretemp 094...correct?

did you use Prime 95 version 25.3 or 25.1?...there is a distinct difference on how it primes the cores.

a better mod is to just screw in the backplate with differentscrews that go in further, the screws provided are too short on the bottom, thats where the problem comes in......getting different screws worked better for me, now its on tight wont move left to right at all.

Ah, so I am not the only one whose U120E is lose. I'll give this a try over the next few days and report ;)

Sometimes DVD-R's come with large plastic spacers at each end of the stack. I think I'll try those to see if they fit. The motherboard foam idea also sounds good.

Either coretemp 0.95.3 or speedfan (with +15 °C offsets). They give the same temps. I'm using 25.3 of prime95 but I get the same temps with 2x orthos.

found a mod that might looks "ghetto" but it seems to work and confirmed by some testers. Is to Tape the side fins down with Tape and the upper side of the HS where the Fan is, is abit concave where there is basicly a bowed hole there due to the HS design. Doing this wont let the air escape from the sides. So u got a optimized push/pull config pared with 2 fans ofc. I got a pic here it is in dutch tho, but the pictures speaks for themselfs.

I got myself another question, I got my TRUE a few weeks, mine doesnt seems to be so loose unlike yours. Maybe they improved the design of the brackets, I cant confirm this, because I didnt owned a older one, possible different design in bracket, but it still got the scissors. However, Mine does move only when put pressure to it, My temps arent that bad and are not superb, E6420 3.4ghz 1.4725 vcore set @ bios ( 1.448/1.440) idle load in windows, I hit max 47/49 50/51, depends on ambient temps I ques, with Large FFts priorioty 9.
Oke I was thinking of removing the Plastic film and that black plastic square , so the bolts comes more throught the holes of the MB. But I am unsure if the metal of the bracket might hit the back of the MB , could cause electric shortcuts, or harm the board, any 1 tried this before?

this is why excessive twisting is not a good idea...AS5 install procedures for a quad core state that you only twist one or two degrees clockwise and counterclockwise for installation...so...excessive twisting action can induce air bubbles or voids...that doesn't sound good to me for extreme cooling when you are trying for maximum overclock.

I see, well it doesnt twist, or move when I dont touch it, it just would move when I put force to it. But do u think that Removing the film and the black plastic square of the backplate , that would expose the metal of the backplate, wont do any harm , if it metal would probbly touch the back of the motherbaord, but the bolts are more through then so u can tight them a nodge up, and btw what mod did u use Ace-a-Rue?

leave the padding on the backplate...and...i wouldn't peel off the protective film exposing the adhesive...you might want to remove it at a later time to install a different HS...it would be a messy uninstall and clean up if that protective strip is removed.

my Ultra-X didn't twist either unless you bumped it but as you can see from reading those instructions, any twisting or movement could induce bubbles or voids.

my 1st mod was to use the velcro latch strips that have the adhesive on one side...i put two layers on each side but i did not cover the sink hole...that worked real well...could not move it at all that way...on subsequent removal of the motherboard, i tried using galvanized washers (super glued double layer and i used different sizes for opposing corners)...that was a little more difficult to keep the washers in place as i initially started to thread the spring screws....if i had to do it over again, i would stay with the velcro.

By Velcro do u mean this? I made a pic of it and put a washer as comparison of the thickness are these to thick( +/- 3.5mm thick)? We use them at home under the leg of a chair so it wont scratch the ground:D . If not do u have a picture? and how thick should it be ( in cm)?

those might work except the surface looks smoother than velcro looping material...i will attempt to take a picture.

here are pics of the velcro latching material that you buy in wal-mart hardware dept...it comes in a kit with a latch and loop for locking together...i use the loop and double it up to give it some height...once you install this...it won't move once you tighten the spring screws down.

thickness is a little more thick than one washer...i would say about 1.5X compared to 2X stack of washers.
