maybe he's using 4:5. it'd be more stressful but still not require 1.5v.
maybe poor dq calibration too, although like you mentioned, for 400fsb, I doubt that's an issue

sofarfrome, what fsb are you @ on water with your E6600? Thanks.
I have read this thread and I can see that the P965-S is a great board, except the compatibility issue with some Team Xtreems. These days I will get some D9GKX + E4400 or E6420. My question is: which board is better, the 965-S or the Abit Quad-GT??? Thx!
So is one of the tips for running high mem clocks to us a lot of VTT?
@sofarfrome
What's the highest FSB you've gotten 3D or Pi stable on this board with your ram?
at over 400 does the nv strap stay at 1066? or do you need to set it to 266?
I believe the 333strap over 400fsb is a misnomer since I don't think there is a 333strap with the p965, since there are no new ram dividers to bring ram back into check at 333fsb. Instead, I think it's just a set of weaker internal latencies. That said, if you use the rebelshaven bios, it'll have listings for 333 and 400 strap, although they don't work, which may further validify this hypothesis. That said, after 400fsb, you need to switch the memory enhance features to fast in order to not let the weakened latencies take effect.
32Pi I have run at 4.2GHz (467FSB set in bios) and 3D stable at 3.85GHz (428FSB set in bios-this could be go higher, not sure yet). Always 1:1 and at 2.25vdimm and 4-4-4-12 timings.
For 24/7 use I run the CPU at 3.71GHz (412FSB set in bios) with 1.38vcore, 4-4-4-12 timings at 2.1vdimm. I am sure I can run tighter timings but I haven't addressed that yet.
board is kinda picky for me. on 4-24-2007 bios
I can do 367x9 for 3300mhz on stock volts across the board with mem at 460 with 4:5 divider orthos stable....
but I cant do 400x8 1:1 at the same volts lol
my chip is good at 3200 with 1.2v and 3300 at 1.2375 which is stock vid, mem is good to 1100 at 5-5-5-15 and 2.1v on the p5b deluxe. the chip also didnt mind 400 with 4:5's on the p5b-d either.
I guess I am gonna have to pick it apart. any thoughts ?
maybe psu ? im testing this board since yesterday with an enermax liberty 500w .
my chip did on asus commando 550 fsb @ p95 :) also i fed the infinity with various d9 gkx/gmh kits :D
but all i could reach stable so far was 400 fsb 1:1. this would be ok but what really, i mean really fokks me up is that even when all settings are fixed (nothing left auto) the board is stable for one boot or two. third boot maybe its not :shakes:
I dont think my psu is a problem? why would it be, i was running this system on a 33 amp psu before.
Since your ram is based on Micron D9GKX's (B6-25E), try the settings other user's with those chips are using, dq being a key one. Also, your not successful running 3.2 @ 400FSB on this board? Is that 1:1 or 4:5? I'm sure you already know this board requires increase voltage to run 4:5 divider @ just about any clock. There's no 333 strap therefore no strap change thus everythings tight & stressing the chipset after 370 FSB refer to this guide. Still others have had success reaching above 500FSB with Micron D9GKX's by adjusting these memory settings as so:
mode3
mode2
fast
fast
dq 5
auto
auto
These are the timmings I recommend to get started. You can tighten them up as you go.

I'm not sure of the PCB used on the firesticks but rememer Micron D9GKX's do not respond well to voltage so 2.20v-2.275v should be about tops.
thanks nemesis, I think my firestix are D9GMH though arent they? they are the 800's, i thought only the 1000's were D9GKX.
regardless I will give these a shot.
This board likes Reaper memory at 1:1.

thats whats kind of funny too becuase its working sweet with a 4:5 at 367x9 and mem at 460
but 400x8 1:1 is nowhere near orthos stable with same volts... I figured the 1:1 would be easier, maybe the NB needs more volts...
I will find out what the board cpu and mem combo do on absolute stock volts 8 orthos stable and just moving cpu and mem freq and then start tweaking.
Your right, the 800's are D9GMH. Most of us with D9GMH are not getting much further than 505FSB 1:1 with this board. I ran orthos last night @ 7 X 500FSB 1:1 with no increase in voltages. Currently giving 505FSB a try (reads 504.7mhz in windows). I used the exact same settings I posted earlier except memory settings were configured to

heres a run with my d9gkx, a little tighter then what i could get with the d9gmh for sure
