No need for accumulator I think :)
im done on both stages.... 1st stage now on -50c (10inhg/180psi), havent tuning it.
how much co2 i need to static charge? my regulator limited me to 50psi only. would it enough?
50psi will most likely not be enough. And you cannot feed in when the stage is running.
i charge with 50psi CO2 + 50psi R22... after that i add some R22 on 2nd stage... 2nd stage pressure now 5psi/190psi... the filter/dryer from HX to captube all frozen, dont have dice problem yet since the suction pressure stable... dont have evap temps yet since im waiting for better thermometer, mines would only do -50c.
Well dice problems are easy to find because they rattle so well, dry ice is tricky, shouldn't play dice games well building! ;) then the pieces won't get stuck!
FYI An accumulator on a low temp system is all ways a nice item to have as an insurance against flood back.
i let some 2nd stage gas out and i got no frost on compressor. pressure went down to 0psi/175psi. i surely need new thermo now...still cant find a nice deal here... do you think 50:50 R22/CO2 are good enough? say for 180w load... what would be the ideal temp?
Hello Andre,
what gas is used in 1st stage comp.? R22 or 502?
right now im using R502, but its a Cheapo R502 ($69/13.6kg), im sure its not pure R502, so i planned to compare it with my Dupont R22 tommorow... its just 6c diffrent on boiling point....
ok, it turns out that Dupont R22 is far better than my cheapo R502....
one question, what are the sign if I have dice problems? if my 2nd stage captube all frozen also means i have dice?
thx
charge 1st stage to around 5 to 10 psig you need just cold enough to condense co2 ....@10hg vacuum you have too little capacity to cool seconnd stage, I don't have P/T charts here and no time to search net for them
i have charge 1st stage with 0psig with R22 and the HX outlet temp was arround -38c all the time, it still idle on 2nd stage.
for whom that experience with CO2 cascade, what are the sign if I have dice problems? if my 2nd stage captube all frozen also means i have dice problem?
thx
I think your freezing the co2 in the interstage HX and its sublimes gas through cap tube, that why second stage cap tube is freezing must have liquid seal at beginning, what else are you uning with co2 in 2nd stage???? pure co2 freezes around-58c and forms dry ice.
The second stage captube should be frozen, its after the HX thats -38C!
thx Nol, so frozen 2nd stage captube doesnt mean i have dice on captube...
what are the sign on dice problem? suction pressure go to vaccum? discharge pressure increase? thx
what is a good 2nd stage gas in the range of -80, -70 not as exotic and hard to get as r1150?.
R23 is good i think
DICE in the captube will cause your 2nd stage to drop to a deep vacuum, you'll know quickly. Don't know about DICE in the evap, the other more experienced guys will have to answer that.
^^
Yes, a sudden drop in low side can be dry ice.
anything else on dice problems? thx for sharing
some pics :D
dont have thermometer that can read above -50c, im using bios right now, thermometer always stays >-50c

some spi test ;D

Good job! Those BIOS temps look as though the co2 is working ok... similar temps to dry-ice :).
nice results with your E6600 and cascade ;)
thx, with 1.76v @ 4.7ghz i got -18c bios temp but the thermo(evap temp) still above -50c. is it right? or its to hot?
compare to my rotary single stage, i only gain 150mhz... with single stage 4.71ghz was max with spi1m... temp was -10c on bios @ 1.76v
adding some R502, result:
