a quick talk about environment issue, please pass it if you don't like it.
First of all, I'd like to say the concern of dumping PVC is unnecessary (except a waste of money and rework)
PVC, or other plastic doesn't have to contaminate the earth.
It can be properly recycled if you care. If not , it can be combusted (instead of incinerated) to generate power.
at the temp of 300 - 400 c chlorine converts to dioxin very fast. but at a combusting temp at 800 or higher, dioxin can be incinerated. some leaking dioxin can still be collected in many ways after this. controlled combustion/ incineration is essential.
the dioxin issue is becoming very political now a days. people should be educated that dioxin is only a kind of pollutant, very toxic , yes, but can be controlled.
There are a lot of bigger problems which I don't feel needs to list here. but any concerns of the environment , even the minimum, is appreciated. Just don't over exaggerate how it is.
Burning PVC or tygon or any other plastic in home is not only insane but illegal. Thousand kinds of toxic pollutants. I really don't know who'd do that.
Forest fire and volcano generates dioxin. (no one can stop that)
house fire and other uncontrolled fire generate dioxin.
BBQ any sauced or salt meat generate dioxin and other stuff. (they do)
smoking .. oh yes.
Most people aren't aware that they also eat minimal amount of dioxin from microwaved food. (a truthful suggestion: take food out from plastic wrapping before you microwave it.)
And to those who like to exaggerate the pollution, I don't know how you manage to survive...
In short, I'd like to know which tube last clear longer than others and that's it. And I suggest the environmental talk should be dropped in this thread.
