using other memory dividers i can run the memory well above DDR2-1000, 4-4-4 fully memtest stable :shrug:
4/5 isnt a problem at lower fsb. Try running 480 for 600 mhz mem though, that aint gonna happen on most (unmodded) boards.
There is a 4:5 divider problem. At 1:1 and 2:3 I can boot in at 400 and use the tighter strap and run up over 460 with clockgen or setfsb but at 4:5 I can only go 410 before crashing.

I recently bought a P5B Deluxe WiFi board, and upon installing it, I upgraded from default BIOS to 0804. Somehow, and I'm not sure if it's the BIOS or me doing something wrong, the fan speed on the CPU is either:
1.) Using Q-fan it sits at 1300rpm, and slowly scales up when the CPU is stressed, but too slow in my view as Core Temp goes past 65C and the RPM is only at 1500rpm at this point
2.) Disabling Q-fan, I get 2300rpm. When stressing the CPU, it does not go past 2300.
This concerned me, as I use Core Temp for temp purposes. After I went to 0804, the PECI option was enabled, BUT my temps dropped by 12-14C in comparisson to my default BIOS (06xx) which showed temps by 5C lower than Core Temp (effectively, I'm looking right now at a PCprobe temp that is >10C less than what Core temp shows). I asked Asus about this, and they said that this is normal. Problem is, I suspect that the reading on PC probe is used as the reference temp for the fan speed, hence the low RPM and high temps using Qfan, and the passible temps with Q-fan off and a constant 2300rpm
Asus suggested that I move from 0804, to 0908b to see if the fan speed changes (will do so tonight)
So, my question is thus:
a.) Has anyone experienced the same above, as me?
b.) With the big temp difference between Core Temp and Asus PC Probe, should I ignore the PC probe reading? It seems too low, but then again, upon touching the stock cooler, it doesn't feel too warm, and I'd recon 60C will be quickly noticable if Core Temp is correct?
c.) Lastly, should I expect the Core Temp reading to differ (higher) from the normal temp used by PC Probe (due to heat transfer - DTS readings taken from the Cores itself, and PC Probe take reading on IHS of CPU), and if so, by how much? There should in my mind, be some heat loss, question is how much?
Sorry for the long message and lots of questions, but this quite concerning to me, and looking at the forums it seems as though here is enough technical know how.

The rest of my system is trivial to my problem.
All power saving option in BIOS used, aswell as tested with all off - same result.
Any advice, references will be greatly appreciated!

Official 910 is the best in my opinion. I'm using it myself now, it sort of finalized the changes in the 908beta.Quote:

Is 0910 for both Deluxe and Deluxe WiFi/AP? On ASUS's website for 1004 it lists the FTP link as being in the "Deluxe WiFi/AP" folder.
What I'm asking is, and please answer, can I use the WiFi/AP BIOS on a non-WiFi/AP. Or is the BIOS the same for both boards? Please answer soon. I'm building
I thik the bios is the same. 1004 seems fine if you kick the vcore up another notch. Is there a vdim pencil mod for this board?
I was running the 0910 beta before they official ones came out... would there be any real advantage to running the 0910 official ones instead?
910 the best for me also. 1004 gave me an unsolved pci-e 1x issue.
I have the 0910 BIOS but I have one problem that I am not sure is BIOS-version related: The board under volts ALOT!!
1.7V Vcore set in BIOS shows 1.7V in BIOS and speedfan, but measured it is about 1.5V.
2.45V Vdimm set in BIOS is measured to 2.25V.
I have tried three multimeter. I have also tried different grounding points when measuring.
Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

About Vdimm, I see that there are two different opinions on where to measure. I have not treid the other one yet.
I can't seem to get afudos to work at all. It seems to lock the system as soon as I try to run it, even if I run it without parameters.

I'm using 1004 Bios version, i'm trying to goback to 0910 version, but i can't.
I use afudos 221 and afudos 226.
I boot from a floppy with ms-dos, then i type afudos.exe
Then of that i type again afudos /iP5BD0910.rom
It's start to load the bios, but then a banner said: please check for a new bios version in. www.asus.com.tw
And it happend with all bios version, 0302, 0504, 0711, 0908, 0910, only work with 1004 abobe 1004 :s
