Thanks guys, i dont remember the exact temps i gained (or lost) by lapping, but it was very significant, not so much at idle but at high load it was really noticable, somewhere around 10c, my cpu was not flat at all.
As for the current status of this chip, it should see another session of hard benching again soon, at 4.1ghz pi will be done, and i mean it. First we have to beat TPR in FAH, so if anyone is reading, start folding!!!
I'm wondering if maybe I should lap my cpu. I never lapped mine to hit 4 ghz. I too am hoping for some 4.1-4.2GHz benching, but it looks as though I'm gonna have to reinvest in a P5B to do it. My 680i topped out @ 465FSB and it looks as though the RD600 is gonna top out @ 511FSB. I may never find the sweet spot of my cpu due to motherboard limitiations. :rolleyes:

Firstly congrats Rev to nice clocks...a killer chip u got there. Was happy with the one I hade before..it did 3.8ghz SPI32M stable. But not nearly as nice as yours.
Secondly, on a side note about the lapping and cooling improvment. IHS on my current E6600 was so bad I could se the uneven surface on the IHS. I had only abot 40% contact with the cooler
(TT Big Typhoon). After lapping I got about 90% and then lapping the "TT BT" I got a couple of more % contact surface, mabye 95% or so...almost hole IHS is contacting the copper surface on the cooler, with an extremly thin layer of AS5 used.
This gave my about 6-7C lower on idle and 8-9C on load...using "Orthos with small FFTs" at 3.8ghz and 1.45vcore
