No news about anyone playing with the DFI ES board?
BTW the layout on these new pics looks terrible. Look how close the fanheader is to the top PCIE slot. And the Thermalright VF1-Ultra won't install on that board at all im guessing. And how close the SATA ports is to the last PCIE slot. And people with the infinity will have problems installing it on this board if they have a case were the powersupply is above the CPU socket. Don't you guys think so or am I worrying to much?

this board better not be crap as i dont wanna get those 680i boards. they killed RAM, died after flashing bios .. etc
Noob question I know, but I honestly looked, and through DFI's forum as well,
Will there be any different versions of this board sold? I really don't want SLI or Xfire, but have loved DFI for years.

DFI's RD600-TR2/G Launching December 15

It's been delayed more than three months, but we just got word from DFI that the LANParty UT RD600-T2R/G will officially launch on December 15, 2006. Distributors expect the MSRP to be around $220.
We first published images of the board back in October of this year. Earlier today images of the board were posted on the net that do not represent the final design. We've been told these images are either fake or of an early prototype. The images DailyTech published earlier this year are also of the final design.
DFI claims this will be the last ATI/AMD chipset for an Intel motherboard -- at least as far as its roadmaps are concerned. No other major OEM brand has picked up the chipset for channel sales. This likely has contributed to its delay as well.
Additionally, we've also received word that DFI has an nForce 680i motherboard in the works. This board is not expected to launch until January, but it will be a significantly different design than the nForce 680i reference boards."

I doubt that ATI would have gotten such early access to the 45nm processes to be able to design the chipset and boards with them in mind. It will likely be quadcore ready, but it may not support the 45nm chips (to their full capacity at least).Quote:

Just to be on the safeside, could somebody list some stores that ship to Europe. I really want to get one as soon as it comes out, and Sweden always gets hardware atleast 2 weeks after the U.S
I got an RD600 reference board in July. It runs Kentsfield perfectly. So I would say the DFI board should as well.Quote:

I'll be most anxious about performance with quad core cpu's, not too many great overclocking boards out there for Kentsfield atm...
BTW My board is capable of much more than the performance I posted. I had my CPU at 3.6 but did not like the voltage it took to make it stable. (I had a dual core core 2 extreme over 4 ghz on this board easy.) In addition I could run the FSB much much higher. I picked 333 FSB as it was a native clock speed for the chipset and the CPU liked that clockspeed. On the ram I picked 1066 Mhz because the board supports EPP and it was a 2 second setting in the bios to configure the 8500 C5 EPP ram I had. Again faster speeds would be easy. One final thing is that the board auto overclocked the PCI-E bus when it detects X19xx series cards. On the reference board it goes to 125 MHz.
BTW I was passively cooling the chipset even overclocked. It ran a little warm (not close to the temps NV 680 series boards get) so I added a fan off a old socket 7 mobo.
It is a very nice chipset. To bad it has not received the support it deserves. In talking to my friends at AMD there are no plans to STOP support for the Intel chipsets. With that being said one has to wonder if Intel will allow them access to information needed to continue support into the distance future. (My guess is that they will be good for chips over the next year.)
