I don`t know where you saw another PWMIC
That alu rad is cooling SMD capacitors.
No need for another 10$ PWMIC

so when is this board coming out?
will there also be a 680ie-board from dfi?
yup i think there will be a 680 lanparty :D ..better save up for the xmas upgrade.. :D

Guess using two smaller PWMICs reduces costs
It doesn't look like a 2 to me though, just 3 and another 3. :p: *I could be wrong*
I think both those chips are the same, just the one is semi-hidden behind the sound board. Looks like they both say 3-50, its blurry so it is hard to tell.
can tell in the other photo, it's a 3 on each (imo). you're right about the karajan module obstructing the view.
Both are 3-50s, just count the pins in the picture Cooper posted. Six pins per side > 3-50.
About the one hidden by the Karajan module, go to page three and check the first big picture, you'll see that the IC is placed righ next to one of the heatsink retention holes, think about how long it is, compare it to the blurred picture and you have the other 3-50. It's that easy :D
So this makes 6 phase instead of 5 on previous samples we`ve seen.
Perhaps DFI will use both solutions. Maybe second 3-phase PWMIC only uses 2...doesn`t sound logical to me though
EDIT: Looks like 5-phase for AMD and 6-phase for Intel

It's so quiet about the RD600 that I'm starting to suspect the worst...
nice board
