Good question! Somebody in a previous thread said to buy the rev. 2 stuff if you plan on running it at 1:1 400FSB. Huh?!?!?

If the rev. 1 stuff can't do that, that's false advertising! They should have said "* only runs 400FSB at lower dividers." And on that note, why does OCZ advertise this "EL" stuff at 4-5-4-15 when ALL SPD ratings for it are 5-5-5-15 ?? I have NEVER been able to POST running it at 4-5-4-15 even at low FSB. I can't POST @ 5-5-5-15. I can only POST @ "SPD AUTO" or 5-6-6-18. This is on 2 different mobos.

I am in no way trying to abuse OCZ's RMA, I'm just trying to get RAM results as advertised. I honestly think I got some bad sticks. Again, these things fail Orthos Large FFT's and memtest at any speed, any voltage. I even removed one DIMM, swapped 'em etc. No help.

Corsair XMS2 5-5-5-15? No problem. Works great.

1:1 seems to be more board and chipset specific than ram specific...the issue seems to lie in the bios files are covertly setting timings tighter as you clcok the fsb higher. Micron dimms tollerate this quite well and allow for high fsb's...other IC's respond differently and as such clock differently.

A huge chunk of your issues are you are all expecting 500fsb from boards with ram at ubber tight timings 1:1 and the truth is most boards will not do it, they have not been designed to do it!!!

2/3rds of the boards I have here are mediocre overclockers, bios files are being tweaked to get them working 70% or so, but what we need is a board purely designed to clock the dimms well and then we will all get the performance we want from our ram.Until then we need to apreciate 400fsb 1:1 in not the normal way of running a conroe...its the way we all want to do it but it is straining the boards and it will cause issues.

Think back to pre DFI Ultra D...300+ 1:1 was a real rare, soon as the board was lanched 80% of people who tried for 300 were hitting it, even with ram that did 280 on other boards ;) so you see as soon as the real cloking boards come out we will see much more complaint performance from our dimms.

LOL, seriously though, I am happy with the 400 @ 1:1 I have now with the G-Skill, who can complain about a 50% overclock, I certainly cannot.

That sucks :( why would they do that?! Surely they want to loosen the timings to let us hit higher clocks! Or at least keep them the same.

Well I think I've just about had it with this memory. It took me a week just to be able to find stable settings with it to run STOCK. I was allowing the BIOS to set it by SPD @ 5-5-5-15, and I set the vdimm to 2.0v. With that setting, Orthos would crash in under 5 minutes. I manually set the timings to 4-5-4-15 and left the vdimm at 2.0v, and Orthos and Memtest both ran fine for half an hour.

So then I decide to try a mild overclock. I pushed my fsb to 300, and the mem multiplier to 2.5, so my ram would run at 750MHz. I manually set the vcore to remain at 1.325v. Orthos crashed after 5 seconds, and the computer rebooted and reset some BIOS stuff to default settings. Wtf?! Is it going to be worth the headache to make this work, or should I just RMA and eat the 15% restocking fee? Aaarrrghh...

I must be one of the lucky one who has the Rev.1 OCZ memory and can do 412mhz fsb easily on my DS3 with memory at 4,5,4,15 at 2.1v. It even did a cold boot after 2 days of not running because I was testing testing another motherboard. It booted right up after I high then power button. Do I need to show my CPU-Z validation again. I run this 24/7 without any problems at all. It passes all ortho tests and I been folding with it since I put back together last night.

Well my rev. 2 sticks will be here tomorrow. :)

OCZ definitely hooked me up on the RMA, I just hope these work better, and I hope I get my $50 rebate.

Just curious about a few of your BIOS settings. What do you have your PCI frequency set to? Did you set the vcore manually or leave it on normal? What do you have the memory enhancement on, normal or fast? Thanks for any help you can give me there :)

How often do they update the RMA on their website? They have not acknowledged my package yet on their site, they should have gotten it a couple of days ago.... Just wondering how it worked for those of you that did have to go their RMA route. I sent back OCZ2G8002GK because they wouldn't boot with ANY settings on my ds3. This corsair 667 is running @ 474 completely stable, so those sticks of mine were either bad, or the new revision (which I'm sure I won't get back) is what I needed :\.

I also have the same 2x1GB OCZ ELP-XTC kit as Badboy and my pair does DDR800 @4-4-4-12 with 2.0V and post in dual-channel everytime on the DS3 at 1.8V (spd). The problems I had with Orthos large FFTs turned out to be a matter of Vcore, not ram. My OCZ ram can do 400fsb at 1:1 without issue but my E6400 needs 1.475Vcore to do it compared to 1.35V at 3GHz.

PCI fregquency is at 105, v-core is at 1.475 and memory is at normal.

I will wait for bios update. This OCZ memory is life time warranted anyway. If I find out the problem isn't solved with future bios update, I might consider RMA. For now it work with 2:3 ratio and is "barely stable" with 4:5 (completely unstable at 1:1)... Will wait and see.

You know, I hadn't thought of that, but it's a good idea. Instead of eating the 15% restocking fee with Newegg, we can just RMA with OCZ later if need be, huh?

I used RMA with OCZ only once (and I'm using OCZ for the last 6 years or so)

It was some DDR PC3700 Rev 1 that I had for about 2 years and that wouldn't work on a newly P5LD1. They exchanged them for Rev3. Witting 3 days I had new working memory.

That was the only time I had problem with OCZ memory. So yes, if the memory can run, it's better to wait and see. If in few month I still can't use 1:1, then I will RMA.

We need someone with an Oscilliscope to test the 1:1 divider on a board....I have a suspicion that on some of these boards... 1:1 is closer to 1:1.2.

Hopefully testing this afternoon, but no scope :(

Even if it's true, that wouldn't explain why I can't run them at 300 FSB 1:1. But 320 FSB 4:5 is fine. (300 FSB 4:5 fail)

It would explain a lot on my DS3 board as I can't run 400 FSB(1:1) at anything lower than 5-5-5 without Prime and Memtest errors. 400 at 1:1.2 would be 960...lol

I got my OCZ Platinum EL XTC Rev. 2 6400 sticks this morning (RMA for my Rev. 1 sticks)
WOW is all I can say. They are SO much better than the rev. 1 stuff.
For the first time on the P5W DH I was able to set manual timings! I couldn't even POST with my Rev. 1 stuff if it wasn't set to SPD in the BIOS-which came out to 5-6-6-18.

I set 4-4-4-10 @ 378x9 @ 2.1VDIMM @ 1:1 and have been Large FFT Orthos stable all friggin' day! I haven't tried any lower timings than those, BTW.

This RAM rocks and OCZ really took care of me. They FedEx overnighted this stuff out to me.

They have won back a customer. Thanks OCZ!

you had to send the old one back to then first? Or they sent your the rev2 with a box ready for you to ship back the rev1?

I have the Rev1 but when i set the timing manualy my windows doent work or works way slower, 3dmark06 goes from 6225 to 5200.

One question how you guys change the divider? Just changing the mem to 667 or 553 or theres another trick?
