lol.
Lucky you're not English... It'd cost almost twice as much here in England as well!
I have the coolmaster and its a tank but for a computer that you NEVER take out of the house its great to work on.
I peronally would not buy it again.
I thought the crossfire now with mature drivers is beating the sli?

Anywho....
I think I decided on my Hard Drive qualms...
After seeing the numbers on these sites:

I was finally convinced that RAID would not get me performance gains wher I wanted it, sure it may be great in some areas, but nothing I really do very often.
So I think I will be choosing one 150 GB Raptor as the hard drive.
However
Now I have a new itch..... These Solid State Memory Drives are very interesting, althogh I have a few questions of course!
Someone mentioned to me earlier that there was a new version of the Gigabyte i-RAM coming out, one that doesn't use a PCI slot, but I can't seem to get Google to take me to anything. I think I also remeber hearing about one that stored more than 4GB of data.
I would love to explore the possibilites of this type of drive as long as I could find one that wouldn't take up a PCI slot, and could store about 16GB :p:
Since I only play one maybe two games at any given time, that should be more than enough space for sure.
By the way, is Gigabyte the only company that produces a consumer level Solid State Memory Drive? I found another company, BitMicro, but couldn't see any prices or places to buy it, so I assume it's astronomically expensive.
just checked out bitmicro's website and ur right lol :p:Quote:

iram is kind of a waste, I know people here like to buy stuff for fun and whatnot even though its not exactly practical, but I'd stay away from IRAM, mainly cuz its volatile, it'll lose its data with no power/charge(although if you have your computer plugged in it works)..also your gonna end up paying like $450 for a 4gb hard drive($80 a stick and $130 for i-ram)...lol $110 a gb is pretty bad.Quote:

Quick Question:
Is there any point to 4GB of RAM prior to Vista? Mind you I don't do any multimedia editing at all. Most intesive things I do are games :D
I've had both the 7200's and the Raptor. The difference in day to day useage with a Raptor is definitely noticeable. Think of it like the 24" monitor vs the 30, one would do, but better is better.
http://www.storagereview.com/article...500ADFD_5.html
That will show you that even the fastest, most efficient 7200, just doesn't really hold a candle the raptor 150. It won't be too hard to make up your mind I don't think. And if you can stand the 7200, well that's money saved too.
I'd prefer SLI myself vastly over CF, but you'll get all kinds of varying votes on that one. Think, since you already own the 7900's that the case is closed, but selling them is an "option" just not one I'd do.
Solid state drives are still in the "getting going" stages. Remember what the early LCD monitors were like? Well that's the deal here too. The technology needs to mature a bit, in price, in durability, in performance, and then it'll be ready for prime time. I wouldn't do it JUST yet, but watch it, as it won't be a year or so before it will be quite the hot topic.
:)
4gb of ram can't be used by XP. It can only manage about 3gb roughly. So you'd buy 4, then waste 1. It can be done, but as ram always goes down in price, better to use 2, then wait for Vista which can use the full 4.
Since Vista's timing keeps going further away, I'd wait till they had a shipping product of Vista ready before buying another 2gb. Remember the ram just gets cheaper till then.
I agree with anemone, also 4gb will not be necessary for a long time, 1gb is still the norm let alone 2gb...you'll be better then ok with 2gb...figuring vista will be using 500mb i hear for ram..you'll still have 1.5gb clear forwhatever, and thats alot, wait til vista comes around and decide then
edit: important
I hear g.skill stopped using d9gmh -- if you still want a good overclocking kit, check out tankguys.com, awesome site, get the team group ddr2-667 3-3-3-8 $250 ram...it will overclock the exact same as g.skill, 2.4-2.5v giving you 1100mhz+ cas4...g.skill MIGHT still be using d9 but from what I've heard they've just recently stopped...I'd get the teamgroup just to be sure
and when you get your scythe infinity would you mind posting some pictures!? Thanks
I Have the Scythe! Came in the mail last Wednesday :p:Quote:

Also, I updated the Original Post, so you can see what all the choices have narrowed down to.
For you and everyone else, I posted that I heard g.skill stop using D9 that was infact false...they are D9 still..so you don't have to switch out your ram but from the looks of it you still have it :-)

WOW! I pulled it out of it's box... and it was crazy! It's as big as my shoe!
Once I get it installed I will show some more pictures as well, and some resluts :)
hopefully it posts better temps than in the thread that i saw
Personally I like the dynamics of the shoe. Slap some copper on the bottom of that and give us some results!Quote:

Just a quick Q.
Would that be the Dell 2407FPW screen there?
And if so, how does it perform?
Thanks.
it looks like my 2405 pretty hard to tell it could be both xD
i have some thing to say you should consider....
sell you psu you could strees it at the max with that setup oced and after some months it could die you can ask FCG what happened to his PC....
sell it and look for the pc power and cooling silencer 750w 200$ and its a beast PSU
get the raptor i have a 74gb ones and a 250gb hitachi sata II and believe me the raptor is FAST you will feel the difference
for the case the choice is a good one stackers are good case but i preffer lian li thats a matter of taste.... you taste not ours :p:
2gb is what you need for game and whatever you do ddr2 800mhz go gskill ocz or corsair look in the xtreme bandwith section for good mems in a sane price range dont pay 500$ for 2gb.... also you should consider Team Group
the cpu 6600 is cheaper and good cpu for the needs it will oc to what you want.... for the cpu cooler i've seen good advices the one i like the ThermalTake Big Typhoon you have to mod it a little and do some work to it nothing complicated just lap the base (time consuming) and add foam to two holes in the fins nothing more and it you will have the best cpu air cooler and the best of all its silent.
the best thing you could its do some research by yourself and read the people experience with the HW and make your own conclutions rather than ask us everyone is going to argue what is better...
while waiting for the nForce 590 Intel mobo to be released, you might want to warm up the E6600 with one of these P5NSLI nForce 570 SLI Intel mobo... ships in 1 to 2 weeks at NCIX or TigerDirect...Quote:
