Can someone confirm this for me? I don't have a lot of experience in motherboard harmodding, so I don't want to trust my own idea until I get a second opinion of someone more experienced =)

And also... how do you measure the vdroop to see if you need more or less resistance?

You must measure Vcore in IDLE and FULL STRESS, when Vcore stop "dancing" then you are done.
My Vdroop was 0.03V (IDLE: 1.530V / LOAD 1.500V)
..after mod (with 50Kohm VR) IDLE: 1.530V / LOAD: 1.529V) :)

I still hope someone can explain the MCH mod to me tho (see question a few posts back).

Here are some alternative ways to voltmod BTW. mostly very simple resistance decreases, so they can be done pencil-style. If I can't figure out the MCH mod here, I will probably just use the one described in this link instead:

wire a 10k pot between the 2x legs of the IC

highest resistance = LOW volts
lower resistance = HIGHer volts

measuring
touch the red (+) from your DMM to the point specified and the black (-) to any ground (set DMM to the correct scale)

i can NOT boot with MCH higher than what i have it set @ in BIOS (read off the V-mod DMM)

i have to turn it back down to 1.65V ...then it boots... without a reset or anything. WHILE im adjusting the POT, the thing will start booting as soon as i hit my BIOS setting. :confused:

One question to all...

Does the Vcore Readoutpoint show the right voltage to anybody? (sure, setting via BIOS is okay, but how to set vdroop unloaded at BIOS?)

I'm getting 0,01 V to ground from the point koysen showed here - and that's wrong....

I can't find the data sheets for the ADP3198 IC... Please help, i would fix it by myself if i could :-/

Need clarification please:

In this board with a X6800 what is correct:

- Vcore goes higher when in load (3DMark2001)?
or
- Vcore goes lower in the same conditions?

Reason I'm asking is because I checked with 2 diff MM and one shows a vcore increase and the other a decrease. Both MM showing same vcore @ idle

Without Vdroop mod it drop's in LOAD about 0.03Vcore
With Vdroop mod in LOAD 0.00V :)

I like most others am getting Vdroop of around .03 so I thought I would do the Vdroop mod but for some reason the resister that has to be removed reads 40K and not 51K ????, anyone come across this before ??

Also does the resister have to be removed ??, cant I leave it and just solder my 50K ten turn pot to each end of the resister ??

Im having enormus undervoltage. Having the E6600 at 400x9 with 1.5V working just fine. Then the machine become strange and wouldn't post even with 280x9 with 1.5V. So I checked the bios and the voltag was down at 1.2-1.3V. Can someone please explain that. :(

Do you think a vdroop would take care of this truble?

when the mobo "crashes" and restarts, and you get the "overclock or overvolt has failed" message, the volts are set WAY LOW!

press F1, set to a "stable" OC, restart (save settings) and you *should* be back to the voltage you set in BIOS (assuming what you saved IS stable)


the "droop mod" refers to the voltage "droop" when the CPU is on load vs idle.
