I'm all in, 980X 64 bit spanking away :)
Hello all. I got this email today, and joined immediately. I don't care too much about the points since i don't believe it means anything. But i do like the cause and have 4PC's and a laptop ready to all crunch there brians out lol. Thanks again.
Thanks to all those who joined today. You may find crunching to be addicting.:D
I'd like to offer my thanks also but your not quite off the hook yet.
We need everyone for this to work so you got a Mother,Father,Sister,Aunt, friend, etc ask them to come and help for the first week of May.Get them started early.
Let's make this an event that they will have on the network news.
"Bunch a kids create worlds largest supercomputer"
Welcome!
Check out this page for great info >> http://www.ibm.com/podcasts/howitwor...07/index.shtml
( thanks, poppageek )
Thanx
hi everyone i have been crunching for a while and i wanted to ask what do you at this point becuse it says that some of then are ready to upload do i leave it
ps is my rig doing good becuse i have never done this before and its running at 100% and max temp 67c thanks guys sorry if you cant see this i dont know how to make it bigger :)
You can either ignore them (they'll be reported at the next scheduled server update) or update manually (Click Projects, select WCG and then click Update). Either way is fine.
alright.. i think i have 1 computer up and running for XS atm... gonna try and get my wifes computer up and running on this also...
First of all Thank You for the invite :)
What a great idea!!
Installed the x86 version and read instructions, got it working. Then saw there was a x64 version. Installing the x64 beta version but don't know what to do when asked to "attach to project" or "attach to account manager". Which one should I select so I can get crunching right away!! My rooms getting cold lol
Is there a section somewhere on running the x64 vr.? Can't seem to find it on the WCG site?
Thanks
John
dam it just got a bsod neary hit 6hrs what do i do now
any help
Just attach to project, select WorldCommunityGrid.org and type in your username and password (assuming you've already made an account)
Haha, that's how you know I spend way to much time around these guys.
Ok, so the question is why did it blue screen? What kind of cooling are you using? What are your temps? Mem OC'd (and to what)? And what voltage you running at?
The thing is your computer isn't used to running 100%, so even if it's stable at 3.7, it might not be for 100% usage... My guess would be either it needs a little more VTT to keep all cores up, temps got way out of hand (VTT too high or mount gone bad) or Ram doesn't have enough voltage to support the clock it's at...
A lot of guys think their systems are stable ... till they actually put them to work for more than a couple of hours. This sub-forum isn't just about pushing WCG, it's about achieving the kind of stability that lets you run a system at 100% load 24/7/365 and then doing something worthwhile with it.
Got one of my systems all set up (did some testing, adjusted for optimal usage, and will schedule for %100 usage while im not at home)
I will try and have more than just 2 systems for the mentioned date.
(a bit disappointed to see the team with only 5 members)
FIVE members? You're kidding, right?
This is the team you're joining: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/te...mId=69B8364XP1
or are you talking about the GPUGrid team? (they're not the same thing)
yeah, sorry ... i was looking at the wrong thing ... :D
Alright, I'm in: not that you're likely to notice the venerable S754 box in the team stats :)
BUT (bit OT here) I am accumulating a pile of parts for a refresh.
P55 Sharpsburg board and numerous ancillaries in hand so far.
Have been wavering between i5 750 and i7 860 though.
MMs email naturally begs the question-which would be better for the team?
Just give me a reason... :D
Which ever unit you want to run will be fine :) Sure there are plenty of people who build machines specifically for crunching and nothing else, but you don't have to do or buy anything you don't want to.
Of course which ever CPU has the most horsepower will serve you longer before needing to be upgraded, and more cores is better for crunching, but it's your money and the decision is completely up to you. ;)
Like DA said, the decision is yours, pick what works for you.
But from a strictly crunching standpoint, the 860 would be better as it has HT. (which is a significant boost in WCG - not for all apps but here it is.)
I tend to always go bigger... but that's just me.
No he isn't kidding ? If you go to the link in post #73 of this thread you will see there are only 4 users (I.D. 11941 XtremmeSystems). Using the link you posted there are many more users (I.D. 8674 XtremeSystems).
Not sure if someone is trying to mess around with XS or why there are two Communities with close to the same name. I'm going to assume us XS members should be using I.D. 8674 ?
Would someone please modify the post #73, we need to ensure we are all on the same page for this to work.
Running at 100% for a few hours sure is a good way to find out that your Rad is dirty :(
Have to quite smoking and soon as it really makes cleaning a top loaded rad a pain!
John
I shall contribute in a day or so with my I7 and another comp. Can't have my I7 running when I am sleeping though because of the heat :'(
I don't know what that other team is, but it isn't this one. It might have been a misspelling or something or ... who knows. This team has WAY more than 5 members, that's for sure.
