R U telling the truth??? Have U tried 4xgig on Expert??? And what with DR (NoEx)???
will update my system specs in a few minutes. yes i have a expert, and i have tried 4GIG and it shows in bios as 3GIG, in windows under system properties it says 3gig. In CPU-Z it says 4GB. In bios i enabled MMIO memory hole and then i couldn't boot into windows but bios started to display the right amount. But no one on these forums know a fix. the SLI-DR older board does , well thats what i heard.Quote:

Maybe New BIOS will fix it??
I'm sure DFI will resolve that (strange) problem.
I wonder if it happens with Every Brand???
I am using the new bios from TONY. This motherboard is not cutting the mustard.Quote:

I think the problem is with the new BIOS i flashed 2 days ago,.
Does any one have the original Expert BIOS. Cheers.
I had to enable MMIO memory hole to get it to show as 4 GB in bios but it crashes the computer.Quote:

OPB> I have a friend with the EXPERT and he hears a strange noise from the board every few minutes and can not pin point it. Any ideas? You said if you hear a strange noise from the chipset area it's a bad board?
There is new BIOS release for Expert available onDFI's download section.
And there was one Beta Version (which supposed to improve memmory support) but they cut it from the server...

well back to normal life,
Prob on the expert :
Is there anyone use 2gb(2x1gb set) Infaneon ce-6 or be-5 IC accidentally wil cause can't run dual channel?(Most likely it the dimm4 orange one closed to CPU socket)..
tried about 7 sets already.
But have U tried the Beta BIOS from 17.november??

OPB I was having the same problem with my gskill TCCD's. It just doesnt like that first orange or yellow slots. HMMM What could it be?
Same here with 2 gb kit Ballistix and old 256mb stick tcb3, but didn`t tried to figure where the problem is. Board Version r.02 with default bios.
Edit: Dual channel works with Ballistix it`s just the first slots using 1 stick only.
I had a problem with my OCZ 2GB DDR400 DC EL Plat. Kit, im pretty sure it's Infineon BE-5, one stick worked flawlessly in single channel, both together would run in dual-channel, but would come up with thousands of errors even at stock settings, I tried every combination, I found one stick to be the cause of the trouble, in Dimm1, it error'ed in memtest very bad, in Dimm2, only a few errors, I tryed less and more voltage, no difference, I figured if one worked perfect in any slot, the other most be faulty so I returned the kit to my supplier from my work, hoping I will get another kit with no problems, but after reading this im not soo sure, still doesn't explain why one worked perfectly and the other didn't though.
- Running 02/11 BIOS.
OPB, I was taking a closer look at the second screenshot in your first post. If I am reading that A64 screen right, that computer is running 4x512 DDR610 at 1T!?!? I am having trouble getting DDR550 stable at 2T, let alone 1T!
Is that really true?
4x512 DDR610 1t is impossible ;)Quote:

I just found out that INF ic problem:
that problem currently occured when you have apply DDR500 2.5-3-2-5 under windows by using clock gen on the fly oc your ram frequency; system got BSOD (PFN list corrupted showing) then reboot, debug 80 card stop@ C1.!!
Solution is you need to change different type of cpu you are using.
because I have fx57 got this problem for 10 sets of INF ram and I have no way to get it boot as dual channel no matter clear CMOS and change to another fx57. However, when I plug in 3500+ E6, it just boot perfectly.
sounds like DFI has some tweaking to do with the less common ram typesQuote:

Hope you don't mind OPB, I'm not trying to hijack your thread or anything I just didn't want to start ANOTHER eXpert thread. :D Just wanted to share my first day with the eXpert and a few results. Thanks again for the pointers they really helped get me going.
Let's start with some pics...
Out with the old, in with the new!
http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/9...14648ys.th.jpg

http://img424.imageshack.us/img424/7...14931zc.th.jpg
Room temp, should have been cooler :slap: Maybe open window up more next time :)

Time for some benchmarks :fact:
CPU: Opteron 146 0530APMW
Mem: 2x512MB Cosair PC3500c2 (old BH-5)
Bios: E704-2BT
Cooling: Air Cooled by XP-90 w/ high speed Panaflo
Initial Test: nothing special to see here just getting a feel for the dividers, drive/data strength ect. One thing to note is the MAL and RP. On my old nF4 board I could run 7/5 no problem 1:1 but if I even wanted to think about running a divider I had to raise the MAL to atleast 8ns.

http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/891/25034v32m6oq.th.png
Now the results start to get interesting. Anyone up for higher speeds with tighter timings? Also notice no change in MAL or RP is needed. :slobber:

32M
http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/1...v32m5hq.th.png
Where I'm right now, still no need to raise MAL and RP. Still seem to have more head room with added voltage. :toast:

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/9...v32m8ji.th.png
Really hope the MAL and RP can carry over to the 166 divider cause I know know the CPU has a good 3GHz+ in it. So far board seems very solid.
meatfrog, you're surely very welcome to share what you have.;)
That's a hell nice work!!:)you try any 2gb set yet?
Any tricks on 2 GB might help others to, no stablew windows with 0530 cabne since dfi expert for me :(
OK, I thought running high Vdimm with low (Stock) core volt on CPU was dangerous. Is that still accurate?
Interesting stuff MeatFrog :)
But OPB was talking about Chipset Area! Not about PSU...Quote:

Try setting Trrd at 2 instead of 0. I think it's a little faster.
I have this 3500+ that's not a great overclocker. But I've gotten an extra 50MHz out of it using the Expert board. This is with single-stage cooling.

Still, wouldn't hurt if we had a few guinea pigs to compare OC's before and after. Like I said before, you never know. ;)
:D But it wasn't when I was writting => strange things happen to DFI server - it's not the first time
I seen the bug I think there referring to. In the first bios screen (standard cmos settings) when you set the date and time the help screen would display weird ascii charecters. Even as you scroll down the drive settings weird charecters would be displayed.
Seen it in the 11/22 bios too.
Kinda funny actually, looking at it in a certain sense, DFI's making it look like they have not a single practicle/performance aspect of the boards/BIOS that they could improve...so they're spending their time fixing help messages.Quote:

Also anyone know the good setting for utt ch-5 in DFI NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT?
THANKS.
I'll recive the Xpert tomorrow. Should I flash to 2005/12/07 bios as soon as possible? Is there any problem with the shiped bios? I'm confused about all those killed cpu's :S
I wouldn't recommend an immediate flash. I have used 3 Expert mobos that run perfectly with the shipped BIOS. Rememebr the golden rule...if it ain't broke don't fix it. The two beta BIOSes out now offer nothing of an improvement in my opinion. I have 1 air, 1 water, and 1 phase change cooled Expert running along under various overclocks just fine with shipping BIOS...for what its worth.Quote:

I have no idea why some boards (like yours) read low (or fluctuate) but some do.
The readings between SG, Speedfan, Everest, and MBM5 don't differ much so it's a board or bios problem it seems. Sensor names are incorrect or just not labeled on some of the other programs but the readings (and problems) are always similar.
Just a shame that mobo makers can't give us more accurate readings.
I think, DRAM BANK Interleave is not working with Expert.
Compare the bandwidth with DRAM BANK Interleave Enabled and Disabled.
It won't change.
I hope the next BIOS fix this problem.
