No, not all will only do ~160MHz :p: It´s a 1.3 ES Dothan 400FSB. 240MHz is possible in Multi 8 but max Speed Overall is ~2150MHz with Air Cooling.Quote:

HELP
i have a question,very strange
my hardware it's 740 C0 ,p4c800ed
when i use 1021 bios,it run @170*13 mem@4:5 212.5 agp lock @66 .all by default
with the new bios 1022.03.it fixed mulit @ 6X
i try boot @200 mem 200,apg lock@66
but it won't post
and i try @201,250,300 ;mem @ 400,320,266 all can't boot
why~
i can't understand,the 730 can @170*13 use very well but can't boot @200*6!!??
Thanks, But this still isn't making any sense to me at all!!!
How can it have a 160FSB ceiling? ..... unless the multiplier isn't "actually" changing and it is still @ 16x multi maybe. I didn't do Pi runs to compare different multis to see if they affected performance (or maybe I did, I did so many damn things I can't remember now LOL) CPU Z shows the change and the speed just fine though.
ANOTHER ISSUE for you: I get no L2 cache on my 1MB banias (dothan core)!!! 512kb celeron M shows the cache, 2MB Dothan shows the cache, 1MB Banias show NO BLOODY CACHE!!! WTF is going on?
I tried a P4P800 and flashed that to P4P800-E beta bios, and it gives exactly the same results as the P4C800-E, 160FSB limit on the Dothan, 185 (ish) on the Banias. This mobo SHOWS the cache is there in BIOS for the Banias, but all windows apps don't see any.
The FSB limits appear to be solid walls, volts do nothing to help.
Cheers,
MM
I don´t think so. CPU-z shows Stepping 6, this is B0 Dothan, C0 is Stepping 8.Quote:

i cant pass 2590 mhz with my 740 dothan+p4c800e-deluxe+vapochill ls!!+1.55v
soo i want to do the u-wire that give me 1.660v i do:
vid4 to vss + vid2 to vss
and it give me only 1.552v and if i do the vid4 to vss it give me also 1.552
what is going on here?
and who i do the u-wire to get 1.660v?

Meltdown,
quite all right with you, my dothan 725 is fsb160 limited, cannot go past 160
whatever vcore applied (even 1.6v bios)...but the "advantage" over P-M 533 is cpu ratio access with p4c800ed +bios1022.003
This all just too weird for me, I have NEVER seen or heard of a CPU that is FSB limited before now like these seem to be.Quote:

Or is the 162 FSB limit (in my case) due to the memory "actually" passing it's upper limits despite all evidence in Windows to the contrary??.
It's the only reason I can see for this, but then this is contradicted by the fact that the Banias go to 185FSB. So I have no idea on this sorry.
It can't be the CPUs surely?
Also, what about the "missing" cache on the Banias in Windows?
Cheers,
MM
The 162 fsb limit is the same as the 715 Dothan I used had. Not an ounce more, no matter what vcore tweaks or whatever. The chips just randomly appear to hit a brick wall. You have the advantage of a higher multi which means you can ramp up the CPU speed a lot.
The 533's are much easier going on FSB, this 730 just hit 255, where either the mobo or ram's maxed

ct-479 & 730 Sonoma arrived

Since BIOS and CPU-Z can't be relied on for Vcore measurement, does anyone have a measuring pt. for a P4c800E-D Vcore??

Got my 730 + CT-479 + P4P800 SE + 2x Corsair CMX512-3200C2 all together. (Typing under Pentium M power :) )
I can only get to 155 FSB before it craps out and resets itself. (Asus'es CPU Parameter Recall etc..)
I'm using the officially supported 1008 bios. So no multi option, I want to drop down to 10. I want to hit 2 Ghz atleast.
Where do I go from here?
My potential order of operations (Point out anything wrong)
1. Boot at 201 fsb
2. drop multi (CPUMSR or EIST?)
3. Use clockgen to adjust
4. Use I865 tweaker
???
Thanks
Interesting problem. I didn't know there was a new bios out. Anyway, my 1.6 can go up to about 2.6 using all multies except 6,7,8. It doesn't like those low multies. I can barely get the fsb up to 150 using 6.Quote:

leejsmith, gautam & dasa : about your 730; can you tell me where they came from and what are their packdate! mine came from malay, packdate 4/14/05...Thanks
pack date 02/10/2005
made in philippines
thanks, did you set fsb>150 directly in bios or via clokgen?...
hope i've made the good choice 'cause i could grab a 740 from philippines...
i set my fsb to 250 via clockgen as i had to lower the multi from 12 to 10 with eist
the bios was set to 201fsb and this cpu only dose 2.5 on high end water others are getting 2.8 on air...
pack date 02/18/2005 made in malaysia batch q506a283
When i first ran this m730 it would do 233 easy but after trying other boards and my other ct-479 it wont go past 231 but 230 is stable.
if i lower the multi i can get upto 250fsb no problem buti found my ram needed slower timings than at 230 and most tests ran slower.
i have it water cooled with a storm g4 at 12x230 1:1 with 1.5v very happy with it so happy i sold my p4 2.8c.
i booted at 133 first and then set to 200 asap no problems
leejsmith just wondering how you went about mounting the g4? i bolted some L shaped pices to the holes in the stock plastic p4 mount then put the down bolts for the waterblock onto the L shaped pices span the waterblock around 90 degree and bolted her down
thanks all guys, for the quick reply... ;)
I hope my new 730 will perform as yours...
K, I finally have the Vapo hooked up. Jesus what a pain. Will post pics when I get a chance, but still trying to test.
Can't really get much over 3Ghz (my max on stock was ~2700). Anyway, got a blue screen and thought I corrupted my Windows install. I can get it to boot at stock, but won't go into Windows at 201 anymore. :wth:

sounds like you did almost the same as me. this pic is with my cascade block but i didnt work as well because of the height of the block i couldnt get enough pressure it was touching the l-shape brackets but as the storm is almost twice as heigh it worked ok.

Sounds sweet. I tried a 170 TEC on a Prescott, and I just couldn't contain the heat, and I had an enormous raddy with 4x120 fans. But with the 25-ish watt Dothan, it should be cool, no pun intended.Quote:

A: Definitely yes ! That's why we provide CT-479 Upgrade Kit for Intel Pentium M CPU on ASUS MB (Note: the only exception is the CPU voltage, which cannot be adjusted through BIOS because the CPU power comes from the CT-479, not from the motherboard.)
this might be the reason im stuck at 2,6ghz with my 730 and vapo. ill have to try the u wire mod and see if it givs :D 3dmark is quit good i would say though http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8612168

But i think the info on the different supported boards is confusing. How are multiplier adjustments on the P4P800SE for example? What about making a consistent list of info, like this (example):
Vcore = Up to 1.8V
Vdimm = Up to 2.85V
Multi = 6 - CPU-MAX
And repeated in on all the boards. I see alot of users confused about what board to get, if the P4P800-E DLX is better than the P4P800SE and such questions :)

What happens when trying to boot with an outdated BIOS?
Anything on screen at all, fans only spinning?
I ask cuz I seem to get the same behavior on my P4P800SE with a 533 P4 and the adapter...
Not sure its a bios problem.
you have to boot with an old chip to flash the bios and get it to the new ones
I cant get it to boot with either CPU and dont know the actual bios version.

there are only 4 voltage adjustments in the p4pse 2.55,2.65,2.75,2.85 on DRAMvolts. MBM5 im using does not show dram voltage... so im taking as asus did not implement dram and agpv readings. Wish abit came out with a 479 adapter i so love my ai7Quote:

just an example not the actual settings
eist=1.365 cpu-id=1.556
eist=1.265 cpu-id=1.456
what mobo are you using ? p4p800-e / p4p800-se and all p4c has vcore in bios now.

i have also dothan 740 but i cant pass with it 2590mhz
soo i want to buy a new dothan!!
ann i want to now what is the best dothan to get with my vapo to 3000/3100 mhz?..
730/ a new 740 / 750 ??
thanks..
OK, now I'm mad. My PC is now shutting of under load. Any 3DMark bench just shuts the SOB off as soon as the test begins. I've moved the Vapo and the cascade to different wall plugs, and PSU is plugged into an APC. This is happening even at stock clocks and volts.
I have a Powerstream 600W, BTW.
WTF?
im using the p4p800se. i cant get the voltage to go back to default now, it locks up when i take it that low. however, i can 3dbench at 2.5 with 10x250 on my memory.Quote:

Here is my first below ambient cooling run.
I used a maze4-1 with 172w tec on the m730 dothan.
on air with a xp-90 or water storm g4 i hit a wall of 230fsb 2.75 on the dothan. no amount of vcore would get it stable at 231 or above.
Using the 172w tec i got it stable at 238fsb 2.85 temps at idle was 1C but under load it went upto 14C. 239 would hang while running superpi this makes me think if i could keep the load temps lower say 5C it would be stable at 239-240.

I dont think the extra effort of tec cooling and power used to get an extra 8mgz on my fsb is worth it but i needed to know and was worth while seeing my cpu temps below zero.
At stock settings 133fsb 1.3v the temps showed -5C in the bios.
Currently working on mine...
Got hold of another P4 2.4GHz 533FSB and flashed the board to 1008 bios (the disk with the 1009beta is apparently corrupted).
Cant boot the adapter+dothan on 1008 although it should be possible. Now Im gonna install a fresh xp, make another flashdisk with the 1009beta and try that one.
If that doesnt work im outta ideas :D
