The SATA is my primary drive
I was running 200HTT 9X multiplier, 5XLDT, 2.0-2-2-5 ram, on Vcore 1.45 Vdimm 2.8 (nothing lower seems to work) and the comp was still crashing..
So I flashed my bios to 2/17, disconnected the IDE hard drive, and as well the Front USB and Firewire ports from my case.. Cleared the CMOS and rebooted..
Now this is the second time I have gone to bios 2/17 (went from 209-217-218-209-217) and I have been priming for about 2 hours now and the system is rock stable..
Before when I had the IDE plugged in I could not even disable or enable my nvida network connection without the computer crashing..
Now I can enable and disable the network connection no problem and have been running prime for about 2 hours at
HTT 250
4X LDT
CPU MULTI 9X
RAM 2.5-4-3-7
Vcore 1.475
Vdimm 2.9
Ldt 1.5
Chipset 1.7
Seems like the IDE was causing some instability issues.. anyone else have an IDE and SATA ??? Also I do not have the raid drivers installed, but I am not trying to run raid..
I'm currently running both SATA and PATA devices with my Ultra-D, and no errors happened. May be you should try the newest BIOS. 218 or newer :toast:
I have tried all three (209,217,218) and all three experienced the same problems.. my prime is still running fine approaching 6 hours.. looking like it might be stable.. hmm .. have to investigate the IDE some moreQuote:

any good advises for BH-5 and NF4 ?
I think i'm going to be picking this motherboard up next week along with a winnie 3200+... after reading this sticky i'm having some mixed feelings. First I was wondering if anyone has first hands exp with a Zalman 7000B ALCU and can put the ram in dual channel fine with plenty of clearance, the zalman sites says compatible but im skeptical. Second I was planning on getting (2x512) dual channel kit of Patriot 3200 XBLK will this work fine if not could you suggest something better around 230 USD. Thank you for your time.
I dont have this heatsink hooked up, but Ive got one lying around, and I eyed it up and you should definetly be ok
You might be better to look at another board honestly.. I've had nothing but problems with mine, and they wont let me RMA it... When I boot into windows at optimized defaults with a powerstream 520w it sometimes randomly restarts, and trying to OC is like BSOD christmas
does it reboot while you're using NVLAN? I had the same problem - would randomly reboot when I used bittorrent, switched over to Marvell, and installed a windows patch which fixed BSOD's with windows firewall working with other firewall apps (such as nvidia's?), and it works fine nowQuote:

I'll try switching over to the marvell lan, thanks for the tip!
I just ordered my board from ncix. It should be coming this week. I sure hope I have no issues with mine.
BTW did you get A02 revision?
Yesterday i did some tests and I think that a modded bios can "unlock" high vdimm with 3.3v rail.
I set my ram to 3.6v using +5v rail, than i turned off my PSU, i move the jumper 17 and I restart the system.
From bios my vdimm was 3.65v using 3.3v rail (@3.75/3.8v)
So just a modded bios can fix this little problem.
I'm wrong???
Thanks -- latsest Rev ?Quote:

Grr just like me, HUGE PROBLEMS!
got the Ultra-D, twinmos UTT, XP-120, Winchester 3200+, Saphire X850XT, Seagate 120gb SATA, Tagan 480W all together.
Then I tried to install, all went ok, formatted and gets to the '39 minutes left' in installation, then I get LOADS of errors:
so basically at this point im thinking ****Quote:
Error setup could not register the OLE control F:\WINDOWS\system32\rsnaenh.dll because of the following error

I think it must be my custom Nlite/slipsteamed disks so I get out the original XP SP1 disk, gets to same point again but the error is "IRQL" one, the normal BSOD.. so now im thinking, hmm graphics card?! its a brand new X850XT.. hmm!
So I reboot but this time it doesnt BSOD, install goes through.
XP is shugger slow, I mean it explorer keeps crashing out when I open 'my computer'.
Anyways I thought, worth another try with my custom disk (tested and working like 10times before on NF2/NF3 machines) and again we are back to the error above...
HELP!
Temps:
CPU 30
NB 40
Bios: 1/25.
Other info:
The X850 is untested, that is the only BSOD I have had, seems fine and that area of case is nice and cool.
The 2*512 Twinmos UTT are untested also, recieved this morning.
Error's appear to be coming from my XP installation, but I have no clue what could be causing them.
read the bit in the manual. I think your PS has to support it. Most should. Mine is set this way and works fine.Quote:

fix:

problem:
windows xp crashes everytime you try to install it, thexp setup crashes at the point where it says "detecting system hardware configuration" or similar (using german xp, not sure it the translation is accurate)
fix:
(not sure what exact setting causes this bug)
load the setup defaults in bios and try again and customize the bios settings again after you installed xp already.
This seems very possible. When Bigtoe of OCZ was first testing this board he WAS powering his ram from the 3.3v rail. He mentioned he had it set to 3.5 on the psu and was getting about 3.4v on his ram stable. I would love to see this happen. Perhaps DFI themselves will make this possible or a forum member can mod the bios. BTW... when you switched the jumper back you said you still had high vdimm. Was it stable at this new setting and after a shutdown etc do you still have the option of high vdimm from the 3.3v rail?Quote:

It seems that TCCD/BH series chips dominate this thread, so it's quite hard to keep up.
hmmm so it seems you can run from 3.3v rail with your method. Very nice find and brave of you to try it hehehe. So only up to 3.6 though? That should be enough though no? With the jumper put back to 3.3v rail does the top corner of the board still get hot?
you can put it up to 4v, but the 3.3v rail must be about 0.2v upper.Quote:

But, as i say, i don't have a stability improvement. ;)
It is more comfortable to use the +5vrail 'cos if you enter the bios to change a timings, the vdimm go down to 3.2v
Need a modded bios...

and about high vdimm from the 3.3v rail... why would you want to use the 3.3v rail anyways? is there a problem with vdimm powered by the 5v rail?

That's a wierd message you were getting. It might be your video memory meaning that your video card overclocking is the proiblem. Try your video card at default speeds. Let me know how that works.
Let me know and I will try and help.
My CPU voltage is 1,45V, and the other ones are at stock values, so I don't think that's the problem here. The temps are, according to speedfan, max 34c after playing for like ~3h. Same thing after like 1h of OCCT.Quote:

Sorry guys, can the DFI nF4 SLI use 2x6800 GT/Ultra Leadtek?
Hi guys, i´m starting to be a "little anoyed" with my Ultra-D mobo. I can´t get over 260HTT. My CPU is a little nice piece of hw, it goes @ 2.6GHz 1.36V real! VCore, originally Winnie 3200+. So I can expect nice OC.
But even if I set multipliar to 7 or 8 to know limits of my RAMsticks, I can´t get over 260 as i said.
Even if the divider is on! :stick:
Tried Mushkin LVLII V2 and now Kingston HyperX ULL both 1GB dual pack kits based as you know on TCCD chips. Both kits performed really good on 260 timings CL2.5-2-3-7 1T 2.8V Bank Interleave Enabled. So there is a huge reserve for higher clocks. I expect next week OCZ Platinum Rev.2 with same chips but on BrainPowerPCB, which OCs better.
Rising Voltage doesn´t solve anything.
Anyone occured same thing?
 :stick:Quote:

I'm getting anonyed with random freezes.......wtf is going on ? I can't do multitasking at all :(
I had problems similar to this, despite hours and hours of prime stability and game stability and superpi, it had to do with all the different ram settings in the bios causing it to freeze randomly, so once i changed them it stopped doing thisQuote:

Even with all settings the same (334HTT 3:4 divider = 250.5) I go from stable to memtest throwing out errors if I make no other change than going from 3.3v to 3.4v. :brick: This memory on the LPUT board had no problem with 3.5v. I know others have reported the same thing with their BH-5, but I don't see solution in this thread. But if performance is equal I'll go with the TCCD since I can give them .3v less voltage and deal with a little less heat.
I'm getting very disapointed with DFI NF4 overall
System isn't smooth as used to have in NF2 :(
Damn it ...threw 500$ out for nothing :(
Those with BH5 should have flashed to BIOS 218 a long time ago. Start with ALL DRAM BIOS settings at Auto...ALL of them. Do NOT use Optimised Defaults right off the bat with BH5.
TCCD runs best at 2.5 4-3-7 on the DFI. Try it.
Memory requires active cooling over 2.9v (the whole area, not just the modules).
Only 24 pin PSUs need apply here.
Has everyone tried all this already. I finished my 5th DFI NF4 build last weekend. I ordered up parts for #6 today. This DFI board is not for the faint of heart, or for those that do not want to put the time into the BIOS or refuse to have top notch supporting hardware. Of the 5 builds Ive assembled, I used 3 with Gskill LE and 2 with LA. All had top end 24 pin PSUs, used both supplemental mobo power connectors, and had active cooling over the memory area when running 2.9v and above. All on BETA BIOS 218. All BIOSes manually tweaked.
Hope this helps someone.
What sort of clocks were you getting with your Gskill?
LE does 290 to 318 depending on voltage. 2.9v takes me to 292. 3v to 308. 3.1v to 312. 3.2v to 318.Quote:

I always use the same settings 2.5-4-3-7.
One thing I noticed as far as Gskill TCCD modules:
2x512MB - put them in DIMM slots 1 and 3 (orange)
2x256MB - again, in DIMM slots 2 and 4 (yellow)
At least works for me...
Using e.g. yellow slots for 2x512MB @ DDR630 casues system to fail during POST.
But using those same slots with 2x256MB yields better ocability of forementioned sticks ;)
That was basically what I was doing with my LE's. 2.5-4-3-7 with 3Volts for anything over 290. For some reason though I couldn't get over 300 even when upping the voltage. Had to drop the CAS to 3 in order to get any kind of stability. I think I need spend a bit more time tweaking other timings, maybe lax a few of them.
Did you find any certain tREF value worked better for them?
Good to hear -- how stable are your systems built this way in continuous use?Quote:

Nice move!
Hello,
i have a problem. I can't give more then 3,8V Vdimm or the Pc gives me an BSOD while booting into Win., with 3,8V i have no problem!
What do u think is the problem, the Mushkins, the Board or the Bios(25/01)?
Greets. :)
All,
I'm having some surprising issues with my memory (Corsair 4400C25PT). I'm finding that when I try to test the memory at it's certified ratings (DDR550 2.5-4-4-8, vdimm 2.8V) and with the CPU turned down to anything above 5.5xFSB I get errors (test number 8) in memtest86 v1.51.
I've tried adjusting vdimm to 2.9 with no result. I assumed this is down to CPU voltage issues but raising CPU voltage doesn't affect things either - though why should it! I've tried running the memeory at DDR400 2-2-2-5 with CPU multi reduced to 8.0 and things run smoothly. However, at stock cpu multiplier I get errors. These timings are tight for this mem though so I'm not too surprised. Then again, the memory would fail at any cpu speed if it couldn't handle the timings wouldn't it?
Can someone explain why I need to turn down my CPU speed so much to get my memory through memtest86? Is this a bug/issue with the mobo? I'm beginning to think it is.
Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated.
My system spec is:
Lian-Li V2000
AMD 3200+ Winnie/XP-120 Cooler/Vantech Stealth 120mm
DFI NForce4 Sli-D
1GB dual channel Corsair 4400C25PT
GeForce 6800GT
OCZ Powerstream 600W PSU
WD Raptor 74GB System Disk
WD Caviar 250GB Data Disk

Next, there is no garuantee of stability when you're pumping that high of Vdimm.
Yes they are BH5, and the 1/15 works fine so far, just the 3,8V+ issue. I can reach 285 1:1 with the 3,8V setting(3,77V), but i want to go a bit higher, maybe i can get an new WR for 2 x 512MB BH5, but anyway, nobody can tell me whats the current WR for it. ;)Quote:

Remember, the memory controller resides on the CPU. If the CPU cannot handle the RAM speed/timings is doesn't matter what the RAM is rated for.Quote:

Also, you'll need to try other timings...forget what the modules are rated for....there are too many other variables. What memory chips come on the 4400?
Wow...your doing great then :toast: 285 1:1 on BH5 is nice!Quote:

Wow. Any chance we could get a look at all the bios memory settings for your 2x512 BH-5? :)Quote:

Thanks for getting back so quick. I've asked this question on another forum and just got silence ;)
I have all Timings @ Auto in Bios, i have some trouble if i change something! All Timings get changed on startup with A64Tweaker! :)
Here is an Screen of the Timings i use:

Flash to BIOS to 218 (latest beta)Quote:

What I was referring to is that the memory controller is part of the CPU. So when you have memory troubles, it can either be the ram or the cpu.

I must confess that the key to this succes is that build 2-5 were based off of the success of build 1. Its not like I got 5 different configurations to work.Quote:

All systems have a small fan over the DRAM area
All systems run nearly the same BIOS settings
But, hey, if it works don't mess with it:D
Okay, I'll try that when I get home from work. Thanks :)Quote:

Is it possible the chipset not locking satas? I've heard NF4 don't have this issues.
My raptor it's ok i've tried it in 2 NF3 Ultra and in a Msi NF4.
I've got an 120mm fan lying around, I was thinking of using it to cool my memsticks, any tips on how to fasten it ?
Help!
My problem started with:
I were tweaking the new VX ram to make stable 1,5-2-2-10 260FSB with 3.4V. But Im not sure if it was with 3.5 or 3.4V when the crash happend. Since with 3.5V you cant get into windows XP. Well, under the startup the computer just died.
So after some checking, no weird smell or so, just a normal crash it seemd like, so I powerd the system on again, but this time and everytime since this afternoon, it starts for less then a half second, then dies again.
Iv ccmos, safe boot, and switched the rams. etc. But I havent tried the cpu anny elswere. So I dont know if its broke or so. The Vcore were 1.88 or so. But it cant have killed it..
Where do you guys think the problem lies? Dead mobo (bios?), mem, cpu?
Thanks a handle!
i have that ram tooQuote:

multipliers between 6 and 10 just plain suck and dont get me anywhere :(
with all @ auto i didnt have probs with ram, i just couldnt overclock :banana::banana::banana: (prime probs)
so i used a part of RGone adviced starter settings and got up alot (10x240 is 100% stable atm, for more my cpu needs looots of volts, and still not prime stable)
u can chk my settings for getting it more flexible in this post:

Prommie will go on CPU this weekend hopefully, Can only afford one waterblock, so thats going on one GC, and an Artic Cooling NV5 on the other - for now!Quote:
