ive got 2 x 512 ballistix pc4000 ddr and atm running it at 2.70 ( in bios ) at 200 fsb.. but the thing ive noticed is that these ram modules get VERY hot??
anyone else notice this.. dont seem to remember my geil ram being so hot.
Not sure exact temp but i would say 70's-80's was red hot to touch.. maybe this is why i cant prime stable or anything at this speed ? even at 200 there red hot too..
i didn't buy the ocz yet... first want some better cooling for my chipset....
last night did some overclocking in the cold garden :D
with this as result :

klootz whats your ram running at?
in the pifast score i used the 133mhz divider so my ram is doing 201 or 202 mhz, in the max overclock i put the divider on 100 mhz which made my ram do 163 mhzQuote:

Hi
i get a 3200+ 0442 SPMW
what can you tell me about this stepping ?
sorry for asking :-(
Katrin
wow were you get it from? that is the newest week i have seen on this forum so far. what specs are you running?Quote:

Thx! :)
man the number of people that can get 2.8 stable is just unfair! i'm stuck at 2.6 on water still! i got that with my old winchester!! on AIR!! ok so i run less volts now but i cant get even 2.7 and it's making me mad! also i cant get my new 1gb bh-5 over 250fsb! i think it may be the northbridge since i can run that at 2-2-2-11 with less than 3.5V but no more even with 3.9V... vht mod here i come =/
0441..
1.66v 2700mhz.
so far so good.
0437 is rumored to be the worse of the bunch. Had 2 0437s and both kind of s****d at overclocking. Guess he got a very lucky one :D
Hi,
I think i'm gonna give it a try... I'm gonna hook it up on WC, probaby i won't get it any higher than 2.6Ghz stable.

yeah i have a brandnew stepping:D 0444XPEW
This is what I've reached with box cooling all around. Gotta get a 7700 cu soon :p:
The CPU can run 2750 without beeing able to run prime, and 2600 prime stable...
@plx:
What's the production week on that 3500+ ?
I really don't know yet... haven't got any cooling paste, so can't take off the cooler... I forgot to write down the stepping before assembling the rig :(
I will post stepping before the end of the week... 7700cu should be up and running then ;)
Btw: why asking ? :)
But I got it from the first sending that reached Denmark in the beginning of november...
I'm just checking production date's on 3500+ to get an idea which are the better ones, yours seems nice.
BTW, that 3500+ 0437 i talked about it's probably messed up, the owner told me that it probably has a bad memory controller... Probably gonna get a 3200+ coz 3500+ are hard to find these days here in Portugal...
Mine is a week 43...
note: a 7700cu does fit an Abit AV8 mobo, right?
Hey everyone, I am done OC'ing until I get my new PSU (ill explain why later)...here is my results:
3200 Winnie @ 1.6v , I don't know how to find week etc help?
320HTTx3LDT --> 8x multiplier (PSU can handle more)
Patriot XBL ($100 highly recomended for budget OC'ing)--->166 Divider (256 3-4-4-7 @ 2.9v but again varies due to PSU)
and of course MSI K8N Neo2 Trat modded 1.37 BIOS....
2560mhz on air with 50C load temps :) (35 or so idle).
Basically my PSU is getting overloaded (Antec Truepower 350W), and this doesn't allow me to add more fans, it won't increase my vcore or vdimm past 1.6/2.8 usually, and it prevents from decent overclocking on my 6800nu (no 16 pipes :( )
Screenies!
O yes and behold....my piece of :banana::banana::banana: v-rails...just look at that how I am supposed to do ANYTHING with 3.22v on 3, 4.92on 5, and 11.66 on 12v WTF! Im getting an xconnect in about two weeks and then doing a case mod with two high CFM fans (one blowing right at my smartfan, and another as an exhuast, it should lower the temp to about 45 degrees or so I am hoping. I will also try and decrease my vcore and see how stable it is :).
O yes, One more thing, what would be best running 256 with 3-4-4-7 timings and 320HTT with the 166 divider or soemthing else? I just got the whole setup 2 days ago, and day 1 was installing everything :p. Please give suggestions to keep current settings or soemthing else....

My 3000+ winnie(0441 SPMW I think) will do SPI and pifast at 2650 ( 32 sec SPI).
I just got a new 3500+ NC ( 0438 Spew), and this hunk a junk wont even do 2530 !!
Gee I'm sure glad I bumped up to the higher multi's.....
very nice results qk, you got a sweet chip, and 30sec 1m is huge for air.
Just got 33s superpi 1m on the 3000+ winnie, and max 2871mhz non benchable. Should get 32s with mem 1:1. :)
What is your memory speed @ 2871? is it 1:1?if it is not 1:1 what is it?Quote:

Edit: It was 133, mem at 205. Gotta try 150 divider with superpi. :)
Edit2: Mistakenly i was using slot 1&2 for memory, changed it to 3&4 and just got 32s.

i have a week 37 3200+, and i couldn't go higher than 225 mhz 1:1 but i decided to play with the mem divider...
now i'm running 9 x 280 on the cpu and 229 mhz on the ram. did super pi, but i haven't tested anything else. just thought i'd share with any unfortunate week 37 ppl... maybe the memory controller can't handle faster speeds. but u can always use the mem divider to increase the cpu speed only.
I picked up one of the newest winchesters i've seen the other week [0444]. Haven't had much time to test it, but so far i've had it prime stable at 255x10 with only 1.52v to the core.
I can't seem to get much past 250HTT at the moment due to all these I/O problems but i'm gonna see how far it goes as soon as they're sorted.
just got my winnie 3000 and neo2 0411 board
its a week 45 chip but i wont be able to do anything till tomorrow tho when the rest of my kit arrives :(

question, how do you tell what board your neo2 is?
If you mean how do you tell what chipset revision you have, you just pop off the chipset cooler and wipe off the goop. The date codes and revision are on the chip itself. If you are not sure what you are looking at just post a pic and we will let you know.Quote:

Quick question.
If I use the 1.41b bios, or any, then the vcore is always .5 higher in the bios, than in reallife. Correct?
You mean .1 ?
.1 then, was just checking.

BTW, please notice that it runs prime stable at 1.5V vcore, as set in BIOS and read by both cpu-z and usdm.
Maybe AMD should reconsider about rebranding 4000+ CPUs as 3000+.
Later edit: CPU-z seems to go nuts at vcore reading when I start the USDM tool. But measured with the voltmeter, vcore is 1.515V.
damn dude..... 2700mhz 1.5v Air cooled ?!
I am glad we have identical Cpus... :D
but now i see a personal problem, im not sure my Mushkin Pc3200 Level2 V2 (tccd) 2x512mb will allow 300htt (about 245mhz frequency) for me to reach 2700mhz :(
can you push it a little higher ?
http://torny.altervista.org/3ghz.JPG
completly unstable... :p:
actually i did a little bit better with iced water(closed 1M@2980) can't show the pic now (that stupid mainboard left me :()
Btw cooling with a 226W Tec :)
cloud: That voltage is sky high for a Weenie.
revo: I think I just ran into some other limitations problem. It's not stable at 2.8GHz even with 1.6V in it, so I assume it's a mobo or memory issue.
these newer weeks seem to be doing very well, even if one cant do 2.7. I wish I had waited to buy my cpu, I have week 35 sitting here waiting for motherboard, because I thought prices might jump again after they dropped to 140.
Just opened the window. If I had this body temperature, I'd be technically dead. Aircooled with CNPS7000.
yep that's pretty right... i selected 1,65... but the voltages on the gigabyte change costantly :(Quote:

currently running my week 45 3000 at 2550Mhz @ 1.4v and the memory at 250Mhz @ 2.7 v - @ 8.5 multi* 300htt, i can get it to boot into windows at 2.7Ghz but its not prime or super pi stable but have only tried upto 1.55 volts at that and it does run rather warm at that speed aswell so think i will leave out till i have better cooling
What is a good idle tempature for a 3200 Winnie @ 2400Mhz, 1.45v w/ stock cooler and AS5?
Mine is idle around 40c (or maybe a bit lower) and at load (hl2 and prime95 for ex.) up to 58-59c. Is that normal/low/high?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
load temps might be a bit high dude, but then it could be the stock cooler runnin at its max. u might consider upgrading your hs and fan.Quote:

Does 302x9 = 2718 100% stable in 3d & prime after taking the IHS off. Taking the IHS off gave 8 degree drop in temps.
I have been able to use (on my board, though) micron memories up to 275MHz 5-3-3-3 (2x256 sticks) with 2.8-3V. Now I'm using them at FSB 300 5:4 (approx 245MHz for my 9x divider) 5-2-2-2.5. Who needs BH5 anyway?Quote:

My advice: micron (ballistix) support lower timings but in moderate frequencies (230-270MHz), you may want to choose them in async mode, but for sync mode (1:1) use tccd (gskill for example should be ok). The price difference is not too high.
