Stay away from 3.. You want 1,2 or 1,3.. I dont think the chipset will allow double sided ram in slots 2,3 at the same time, thats why it wont post.
Try one stick at a time.

i think u should try one stick in Slot 1 and post if u can get higher then u now the solution if not
maybe ( imho) u got a bad mem.controller in ya cpu...
i had to 230x10 1:1 or 280x8 (133mhz266) and i got no problems i tested with bh-6 and infineon cl3 :D both does work...

im using 1,3.... so i should use 1,2?Quote:

if u can use try it it may go higher but if it ran smooth on 1,3 why not....

im using 1,3 from the beginning.... and i cant get 230 stable 1:1 with bh5 @ 3.3v... and i had them way over this on nforce2
first try only 1 stick and if it wouldnt work u try 2 but slot 1,2 and check this out!
so if nothing works maybe u got a bad c0 mem.controller in ya cpu
gotya?

Yes try out using 1 and 2... On my last board slot 3 was the worst.. Meaning it wouldnt run nearly as high as the other 1 and 2.
well, here is my results until now:
- I had 2x512 in slots 1,3 and had problems being stable @ 230 1:1 @ 3.3v with BH5 chips
- Tried using slots 2,3, but it gave me an error "01", not posting
- i decided to try with slots 1,2 but had the same unfortunate results about the fsb
- tried only 1 dimm on slot 1, same results
- tried the same dimm on slot 2 and it gave me the "01" error. then i cleared the cmos and it booted fine. primed @ those settings about half an hour, when before it would crash in an instant.
my conclusions: i guess that in my board, slot1 is the weakest link. ill try slots 2,3 later, clearing the cmos and ill see if i can have good results.
post your thoughts
I had the same probs with that 01 error.. DOnt know if thats just a bug or because the system/cpu flipped out with the changed dimm slot..
Hitting the reset button always fixed it.. It was only on the first post after the change.
2 is my best slot on the new board.. The 1st was the best on the old board.
Try each stick in slot 2 to see if they will both do 250 on this chipset.
If they do then its not the ram forsure and you dont need more voltage to get the same overclock for the ram.
Most likely the prob is that the CPU is maxing out.. And usually when that happends you cant run at the max CPU speed and FSB at the same time.. If you want 250FSB then you'll have to run at a lower mult and clock the CPU lower then the max it will do.
So if the CPU maxes out at 2500MHz.. Then it wont run at 250x10 cause its already maxing out at 2500Mhz and it wont give you the high FSB at the same time.
I'll have to check your other posts.. Have you tried 250HTT x 8 or 9?
this cpu is crap, it maxes out @ 2300mhz watercooled....
so im trying the 250 fsb 1:1 with multi 8x just to see the ram boosting.
You know you have a bad chip when 250htt is reffered to as high fsb :(
Yeah no doubt its a bad CPU.. Just makin sure its not the board.
If it can only do 2300Mhz then a new CPU is what you need. heh and also that chip could probably do 2400Mhz in a different board.
My 2400+ would do 2530Mhz in my Chaintech 150 chipset and in this board i can only get around 2430Mhz stable. with the same voltage of 1.7v.
true, it gave 2400mhz rock stable on my other board, msi k8n neo plat.
well, even with only 1 dimm and in slot2, it does not stand more than 230 1:1...
where do you think the problem is? defenitly on the cpu?
Hello..
This is whit my J+ and 1x512MB 3500EB

Fosco
Probably.
What cooling is that Fosco? I cant even get 272+ in memtest86 with a single stick of 3700EB 512MB at 3.3v.
It`s whit a 92mm papst blowing on itQuote:

heh must be a nice CPU.
I tried to flash BIOS, after some issues with Undervolting the CPU i switched back to 0505 but my problem is still here. NO OVERCLOCK AT ALL (even 2080MHz with 1.65V to CPU !!!). There is also a HTT freq. I use it as 4x on 9x250 does it matter or not??? I´m really pissed of from this board. And also I hear really annoying sound from that donut near CPU.
CPU temperature is 38°C idle.
That CPU can´t be crap like this ???
I suspect the mobo.
so, what do you think i should do? trade my cpu to work this memory issue out?

Have you tried using the 166 mem divider?Quote:

Prob a good bet to try another CPU.
yes, same thing happens... weirdest thing is that after i returned my rig to defaults, i kept getting the same blue screens until i cleared the cmos again
starting to hate this
Sounds like dfi is about to steal a few more customers from epox...
I'll be shocked if the DFI actually comes threw for me.. I've never had a great overclocking board ever.. 12 NF7-S board.. nope, AN7.. Hells no! DFI NF2 board <---Worst yet, Chaintech.. good board just dont overclock that high cause of no PCI locks.. and now the epox... I'm sure there was a few other supossivly great overclocking boards i missed that also sucked.
Hell i left the Barton cpu for dead cause i couldnt stand all the crappy NF2 chipset boards out there hopping i'd finally get a great one with the AMD64 cpu.. not.. so far.
The board goes to RMA, I really hate this f*cker. I´ll get a new one, shame the DFI board is not for sale yet. :(

hi man @ first :D ur welcome
undervolting problem solution:
put the psu power cable (sry 4 english mate :D) out and in with the psu on but ur pc is down (so only the trigger should be on "on")
that worked for me and when u set fast to ur system in bios u ll get 0,1 V less vdimm !
so maybe u got a bad cpu but not so bad i think.... what for a cpu is it exactly?
HTx4(3,2,1) is no matter for me! it works with 280x4 as well :D
so i think it s not the board but it cant be that ur cpu only does 2080 or not stable... i got a bad cpu and can get 2250 with my clawhammer with 1,6-1,65Vcore but theres also no matter if i set it to 1,8 so...
the only    :banana:ty thing is that ya can only go with min 8x multi i need a lower mutli.....:banana::banana::banana:gen doesn work for me correct.
seEn andL
PS: the sound comes from the mosfets (or near) dont worry about but if it ll not stop rma the board because i got this only first 3 days i ve bought the board....
Well, my CPU is CG Newcastle core. But I think, I´ve discovered the problem, it´s my memory :( Some people have problems with these A-Data memory modules, but some don´t. I´m the "lucky" one I guess :(((
And actually that annoying sound comes from that donut, becase when I tried to press it, it was gone.
then wait a few hours days and let it run...
as i said in my way it stops three days later or so...
so if ya have money go for ocz 3700 or 3500 with bh-5 that would work really well and fast and it s very good 4 oc
or maybe buy mushkin or somthing cheaper but read through a few threads about amd64 and memory u ll find enough...
seEN andL
PS: u could try setting the timings to 2-3-3-6 and set in bios 166 divider that ll work!
well ppl, i sold my good for nothing 3000+ c0 and ordered a 3200+ CG newcastle. it should be here tomorrow
by the way, that whole case about a cpu overclock less in this board than others, is it only with c0 or with all of them?
cheers
i cant agree with that and it wouldnt be the world...
maybe in some boards u can get little more oc but its not really worth (30-50mhz MAX! only with lesss mhz)) if it clocks bad here then it wouldnt clock much higher in some others....
seEn andL
PS: imho... i ve got the msi board and there it wouldnt go much higher....
on my case, msi had 2400mhz stable... on epox i get 2300mhz stable only... oh well, ill see for myself tomorrow
what really matters to me is the memory clock on 1:1
hmm really u got pretty much more on msi... strange....
Does the 1:1 memory actually help anything?
yes i get little better results if i let the mem. 1:1 but check it out and post the scores, if u could get the mem. always on the same mhz :D

Fosco
Which BIOS are you using there?
16 july
16\7
7\16
something weird is going on...
so i said that i only can get 2230 mhz max stable and between 2250 and 2290 it crashes = bluescreen....
its a 3200+ clawhammer bought @ nov03 so its one of the old guys :) C0 stepping...
i wanted to sell it because i m on water now and i need a better oc er
since this last max. performance test i only got new memory corsair bh-6 and now i ve modded my radeon so i can go up to 480/396 mhz now :D i m very happy my first mod succesful! and so i tried to get more of my cpu again...
i tried the beta bios (thx@ bones again!) for the kda3+ from 7-16
and setted vcore to max :P 1,8 it was idle1,75 and load 1,85 so it goes very hot althought i got a waco...
on load i got 62degreeC so the warnings rang... i shutted down because it s little bit to high...
but i reached before not 2300 i could go up to 2380 mhz then it craseh => bluescreen but i was every time on 2230 mhz with 1,7-1,75 vcore and now i m running 2330 with also 1,7-1,75 so what the hell? is going on here? i sold the cpu because it didnt get what i want its sold on ebay!
but now it clocks like hell about 150 mhz more? why the hell? so i need now a cpu which can do 2400 C0 or 2600 CG...
i also did benches with 2330 to 2350 and it was very good :D
also i got a very strange bug with that bios? if i set 289x8 ddr266(on200) i get false reading of cpu-z and clockgen cpuz shows it 200x8 and the memory is also 160 mhz ?! and clockgen shows 2300 mhz and 45+ pci and 93+ agp? what the    ! if i set 250x9 and ddr333 all locks work and with all other bioses it worked with max 275x8 because if i went higher it crashes..
maybe its the bios that i could go higher but i also tried it bout good month ago and nothing changed but now?
sometimes i get booting problems but i think thats with HTx5 and any higher "fsb" than 240 will do that so...
seEn andL
Seems like the BIOS updates for this mobo have dried up :(
yes man....
and the dfi is staying little bit in his holes...
but i dont want to wait without a mobo but with cpu and all other stuff for 10 days or something like this...
i dont really know which cheap mobo i should get for the while...
i m thinking on vnf-chaintech or the k8ns from gigabyte....
it would be very nice if the vtt clocks equal higher with vdd and i want to mod it but i dont found all the k8ns mods chaintech i ll search tomorrow...
maybe someone here got expierence with one of these?!
seEn andL
So is this board obsolete now?
far from it...
I just modded the latest bios 09/15 to enable 1.75v and 1.80v :D

Another bonus is that it doesn't doesn't like pure crap.
My only gripes with the Epox are the lack of cool 'n quiet with 2 memory sticks, and that my vCPU is never ever what I set it in BIOS. Are there fixes for this yet?
no permanent fix - this board just sux.
my volts are different every reboot, and epox won't actually acknowledge it either. Don't try and make your feelings known over on the epox forum at AOA either, you will just get banned like i did .....great way to support users
:)
I'll be showing my support by an RMA for this crap board and never buying epox again.
hope this DFI board turns out decent - i don't believe i've seen anyone jumping for joy with it just yet though  . Anyone with a retail board anyway.
