4.2 is shorter, and so its also a bit easier. So for the bench, only 4.1 counts. doesnt matter that a faster version exists, the fastest 4.1 time will be the fastest in 4.2 anyway, only its a little harder and requires more stability. In other words, a better challenge than 4.2
sorry but i'm french and my english is very bad ...
i'm ok with you said, but for on my site we decide to take the 4.2 version for the bench and 50Millions of digits
the 4.1 version more difficult for the P4 ;)
Me and M@tt decided to keep the 4.1 version due to the fact
that results and validation would tie up with the results that
were once part of Kain's Pifast Challange before it wen't Off
line.
Kains Pifast always used the 4.1 version as hosted on Hexus
together with the Hexus batch file for setting the parameters
to do the calculation.
When David at Hexus offered us the hosting at Hexus.net we
set everything up as per before so those that competed in Kain's
Pifast challenge were able to re-submit there last scores as per
Kain's and carry on as normal which I knew were valid from cached pages of Kains Site.
It was dicussed if we were to use 4.2 but everyone prefered sticking with 4.1.
So 4.1. it shall be :)
Try 7-2-2-2, it worked for me.Quote:

One question.....Is it possible that Version 4.1 is "more optimised" for an AMD CPU???.....Perhaps the V.4.2 is more accurate for BOTH Intel and AMD....Just a question..... :)Quote:

actually I think 4.1 is more raw power code, whereas 4.2 "assists" the P4 in avoiding its weak points.... or you could say that its just optimized code which enables the P4 to make most of the optimisations
Duration : 59.61 secondson 4.1.
so what does that mean anyway.
the V. 4.2 is "more optimised" for 512ko of the p4 ... it's allQuote:

Is it because some AMD guys want that???.....just another question.......If an Intel guy benches the V.4.2 and an AMD guy as well , the "deference" between those two is it going to be LEES(in seconds) than the V.4.1...?????....I think as the software is getting better we SHOULD go on with it..!!!....It's like you benching 3DMark2000 and NOT the 3DMark2001 or 2003.....Just wondering.....Quote:

EDIT : I was just at Pi-fast's page and I DIDN'T read ANYTHING about "optimized code which enables the P4 to make most of the optimisations" in V.4.2.....It JUST says as the V.4.1 version about a bit faster and repaired some bugs(same as they did at V.4.1).....I think that something "fishy" around here..... :stick:
Ok hipro I'll bite (just this once), so whats your fastest v4.2 time
yes but with pifast v 4.2, 10M is too short, 50M is good no short no long ... look my site for the best time
I don't have V.4.2 "fixed" bench to test it......If someone has it please give me a link to download it.....Thanks in advance..... :)Quote:

Thanks but.....I didn't ment that....I mean a "fixed" V.4.2 as the V.4.1 that you don't have to "put" numbers and the other things it asks you to run it........Just "click" and run..... ;)Quote:

Now.......I think that IF we ALL try the V.4.2 one , the Intel "times" are going to be FASTER than the AMD's ones.......Bet anyone???? :D
I think THAT'S why you ALL AMD guys "insist" for V.4.1 which "could" have a "bug" for Intel CPU's..... :stick:

Hipro,
I wouldnt say there's a "bug" in it for Intel CPU's...
I've been doing a little google, and the use of 4.1/4.2 is about 50/50.
Basically, most of the rankings on the net use 4.1 simply because most results are already like this. Only after the rankings started came 4.2. Now if anyone were to start a new ranking, it would be only normal that 4.2 would be used.
I think in 4.1, AMD's have a too big advantage over the P4. However, in 4.2 it looks to me like the P4 is too far ahead. So I guess to be exact, you should combine the time of the old one with the new one and take the average :D
a 3 GHz XP is definately the equal of a 4 GHz+ P4
so, how about you make good on that "promise" instead of §§§§§ing about the version ;)Quote:

It's a P4 3000/800;)
I first tried it in the old Abit IT7Max2 v2 and it was not better than the old 3.066, so it's the FSB that do the trick.
-and the prommy mod -you now:D
desent ram will cut 1 sek or so...
Coollll.......Have you tried the P4 3.06GHz on this Mobo to see how it does???......and DO you remember the FPO/BATCH of your new CPU P4 3GHz(800fsb)....Thanks in advance...... :DQuote:

The FPO/Batch # : L309A569
I think the 3000 is better than the 2.80, 2.66 etc in the first time of producktion.
The 3.066 perform like your dual DDR board. The mem can be tweeaked a little better (1.33 1.60 2.00 2.5 2.66 etc)
It can NOT go at 800 (fsb200 x 23 = 4600  :D )
JC Viggens and others statement on the max fsb on Abit IT7:
IT7Max2 v 1 (reed and blue) IT7Max2 v 1.1 and IT7Max2 v 2
are not precise. With 3000/800 They can all go almost 200
(with voltmod etc etc)
-But that history now.
Hope you get your Springdale sune

GOOD WORK macci...... :toast:
Now......Let's see.......If Intel CPU's "grab" the three first places in Pi-fast bench , then we have to CHANGE the Version bench to the V.4.2 one.......We have spent enough time with this V.4.1 one which WAS good for the AMD's CPU's.....We HAVE to be "equal".....We have passed some months with V.4.1 and NOW we have to pass some months with V.4.2 .....AM I wrong???..... :)

Nice job, but tell me, I now You have tried AlbatronPX865PE pro too, how can IC7 bee so mutch faster than Albatron. Du you sink, that it is the difference between 875 versus 865 ??
Here is my best so far with Albatron
3.0@4162 on AlbatronPX865PE 2-5-2-2 (444) => 50.06
Yup the chipset is making the difference here.
its almost 1000Marks in 3DMArk2001
http://www.solidhardware.com/macci/P43G/875vs865pe.gif
Now I'd really like to figure out if it was possible to enable PAT on 865PE chipset. Cos if that could be done I might be using the albatron 865PE Pro too (excellent price/performance ratio) :)

arrive over the weekend it will be prob Sunday when I do the next update.

Raised the FSB by 1 Mhz and voltage by 0.25V (1.80 to 1.825V) but as soon as I started Pifast, the system rebooted.
The P4C800 overvolts like crazy and I don't wanna kill the cpu.
Seems like 4Ghz is a magic barrier that this sucker can't/won't pass.
