Hello all,
I am looking for a hard drive imaging program that currently supports the x79 chipset in RAID. I have tried Acronis 2012 and The windows image backup. Neither work. The windows image backup will backup but when trying to restore and asked to load the drivers, after they are loaded the drives still do not show up. Any ideas what programs might support this config right now?

Hi Raja, I updated the BIOS to the latest one and increased VCCSA to 1.15V but the missing RAM problem is still here. What do you mean by "load XMP"? Where can I do this in the BIOS?

After that check which of the slots are not working by removing all the modules and then placing two DIMMs at a time in every channel to check which channel or slots are not registering DIMMs. Also make sure all DIMMs are actually working. If after doing that everything points at the board then contact ASUS support in your region for further assistance or an RMA.

I have eight Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 CL10 RAM sticks. The problematic stick is always located at D1 which is the first RAM slot. It shows Abnormal in the SPD DRAM menu when the system shows 61440MB RAM.Quote:

Hi Raja, I have another problem. I reconnected my SSDs to the Intel ports. Set them up as RAID0 and tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate. At the early part of installation, I know I need to load F6 driver for Windows to recognized the SSDs. I tried the F6 drivers in the motherboard DVD as well as the latest version by selecting C600 RAID Controller (x64). However, Windows complained that my driver is 32-bit or 64-bit unsigned and it needs a signed 64-bit signed driver. What went wrong?? Is the C600 RAID Controller (x64) the correct choice???

I always use a "hard cloner' - a bit for bit recreation of what you now have on another drive, and I have tried every hardcloner including some rather expensive ones (Miray HDClone), but I always come back to Casper (now on vers 7). I clone triple boot Win 7 X64/Win 7 X64/Mint 11 with never a problem. It always works and is idiot proof - since vers 3.0. If the original partition or drive crashes, then all you have to do is switch boot order and you are good to go. Casper will clone anything - HDD SSD X64 Linux Mac multiboot etc. and you can schedule regular backups or employ smartclone which auto remembers what is new and only redoes what is different or new.

i got one small problem with my motherboard, Rampage IV Extreme.
On default settings, when cpu in idle, it drops multiplier to 12 and lowers the vcore as it is supposed to.
Now i would like to have this same when using X.M.P only thing changed from bios is Ai tuner profile to XMP and it wont drop multiplier on idle anymore.
Been trying to figure it out but cant. Im using bios version 1005.

EDIT: ISSUE SOLVED - Stupid me.. it was win7's power managment settings, that had max power option on. Edited it and works like a charm.
I had a very similar problem. In Offset Vcore the CPU frequency would drop, but the voltage stayed at max. Resetting the CMOS fixed it for me.
USB BIOS Flashback
Will not work! (3to5 flashes than hang). I have tried un-populated & populated Board, Original shipping bios and the new 906, same - just hangs. I have other issues including boot, but I have been able too work around most of it, but I would not approve of (my work-a-round).
I need too know what causes this. If its a defective board or what? I have talked too the PSU Company, they assured me that the PC-P&C S75QB 750W ATX12V / EPS12V is not at fault. Plus I spent over 4hr with asus's contracted` support, a level-2 tech wanted too send me a new bios chip - I told her I wasn't working on a BX slot 1 motherboard-(she hung up on me) o`well.
I do believe that if I can resolve (what is at fault) my work-a-round will not be needed.

- 64GB G.Skill DDR3 PC1600 (8x8GB kit, intending RAM drive)
- Noctua NH-D14 SE2011
- 1x HIS Ice-Q Turbo Radeon HD 6970 (2GB)
- 2x SATA-6GB (SSD, 320GB)
- 1x SATA-3GB (spinning, 1TB)
- Cooler Master 1200W Silent Pro Gold PSU
- HAF-X (+ 2nd 200mm top fan, if anyone is curious, is great case)
...took a deep breath, powered on, worked. (!!)
...also, wow, can't even hear the computer running. Thought it failed to start, but no, it's dead-silent.
I bought the WS model because I need *stability* (also need both LAN ports). Don't care about overclocking, but if it's easy-and-free, I may consider (later, after burn-in, or sometime down-the-road).
WHAT I DID: I set the motherboard EPU switch to "on" (default was "off", switch is to, "automatically detect the current PC loadings and intelligently moderate the power consumption") and motherboard TPU switch to "on" (default was "off", switch is to, "automatically optimize the system for fast, yet stable clock speeds").
AS AN ASIDE: I first flashed the BIOS (P9X79-WS-ASUS-0802), USB flash-back didn't work, not sure why (never got any blinking at all), had to manually select the file-to-load from the USB drive from within the BIOS). Then, my *only* BIOS settings changes are: HAF-X has 200mm fans and the Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 cooler has large/slow fans, so I had to lower the "minimum RPM threshold" for fan monitoring for these fans to 300 RPM (400 RPM was still too high, default was 600 RPM) to eliminate POST fan monitoring errors.
STUPID QUESTION: I've installed the AI Suite (AISuite_II_10216), but didn't do anything with it. However, I'm running a lot of RAM (64GB, intending RAM drive). Do I need to run some calibration/optimization for my system to ensure good auto-tuning, such as establishing "best" RAM voltages/timings?
Again: I don't care about overclocking (for now), but I've seen the auto-overclock feature, looks nice, I may do that eventually since it seems like a conservative way to "turn up" my system (in a stable manner). However, I suppose I could get interested in an initial "auto-overclock" right now if Raja said it was a good way to "tune" all my components to work together nicely (e.g., adjusting voltages/timings, etc.)

went thru hell for 3 weeks with the cold boot prob, (P9X79 Deluxe) sent mobo back to ASUS (intervention by mod on vip forum), they kept it for 2 weeks, couldnt reproduce issue, sent it back.
He just figured it out.

He plugged the CPU fan into one of the black 2 prong voltage reading ports. I have the P9X79 in my son's rig, and I guess I can see how it could happen. The port is near the CPU fan header....it's just that the voltage reading port looks nothing like a fan header. I mean its not even close!! :shrug:Quote:

On my sabortooth OVP/OCP doesn't see to be disabled when disabled is selected. The board powers off when under load at 5GHz and 1.55v (LLC) even though temps on VCORE are < 90. I hit 80 often, its like the board isn't right when VRM cooling. Yes I have a 120mm 72 CFM fan blowing on it.
Thoughts? Mostly the UEFI behavior, then if time the 2nd paragraph.
Side not, on all the Dram timings the Jedec Acronyms should be used. Its not like we don't have room for proper help in the F/W now with UEFI.

For some reason, I'm getting random lag spikes in game, mainly TF2. Even more noticeable when a lot is going on at once. Servers I play on range around 30-40ms and when using my other computer, I don't experience this. Even got a new modem and router (needed one anyway) to make sure that wasn't it. I checked for latest drivers and even tried reinstalling the ones that came with the disk. Is anyone else experience this? Could it be the fact that I have TF2 installed on a HDD while my OS is on an SSD? Networking really isn't my strong point. :/

AI Suite should be smart enough to know what the values are and display them correctly. if VttDDR is in fact 1/2 of Vdd of the drams, it should NOT be showing .5, when I have my RAM set at 1.65, nor should the other voltages for DRAM.
All auto settings should show currect true values; else what is the point of the program? You can't make valid logical choices when the application you are using is lying to you.
Another thing, the BIOS should display the chosen 'auto' value and put it on that line next to auto so we know what it did. I don't like CPU+auto-offset to display the total.. I can't tell what the BIOS is thinking or doing to correct up or down with any degree of accuracy.

So just to answer your last statement about displaying the offset, .5 represents 50% of DRAM voltage (DRAM voltage X 0.5). To find the actual voltage just multiply whatever you have set by DRAM voltage. Or leave at 0.50X to track 50% of DRAM voltage.

Any insight Raja? I've talked with my internet provider and everything is fine. I am able to run BF3 just fine so my guess is something with TF2. I did talk with a steam friend and he said people he knows still have problems to this day with tf2. I'm about to try a single gpu and see how that goes. My old computer which was built in the GTX260 series on 1366 socket doesn't have this problem so maybe it's an sli problem.

I'm using 3930K + Sabertooth X79 w/ 0906 UEFI.
When I run 100Mhz CPU bclk strap it's fine. (100x45)
However if I change to 125Mhz (125x36) it will POST for the first attempt.
Then any system failure (e.g. 0x101 BSOD) will cause the system always fail to POST with the same setting.
Any workaround / solution for this issue please? I'm pulling my hair out and having a hard time playing 125Mhz strap...
Hello everybody. I am a newbie member here but have been a lurker for ages. I have always had a bookmark here to read and learn from the wealth of knowledge that lives here. I am a system builder and recently switched over to the Asus Sabertooth X79 board after many months of using the Sabertooth X58 and P6X58D Premium. Anyway, I ran into an issue with booting Win 7 Pro 64 SP1 and was only able to PM until the admin turned on my account on for posting here. I went back and forth a couple of times with Raja today and bingo, all is good! Thank you Raja!
My question at this point is what is the consensus here regarding a page file? with 32GB or 64GB of memory, is a page file even needed? I could see if someone was a power user of the Adobe CS5.5 suite and had all apps open and editing many large files but this is a rare instance and even then........

after changing the CPU-Cooler I've got the problem that I can only use 8GB RAM instead of 16GB. All DIMM's are still listed in the DIMM Post in the BIOS. I've tried the 0005b,0006b,1101 and the 1005 bios and nothing has changed, then I increased ram,vtt voltages nothing changed either. What should I try now ? Sorry for my bad english and thanks for your help.

Hi Guys, I am new to the boards but I have been lurking for quite sometime. I recently rma'd my gigabyte ud5 x79 motherboard and got an Asus x79 Pro motherboard in it's place. I installed the board tonight and was met with some issues. First, I could not install windows on my OCZ vertex 3 120 gig SSD. In trying to solve that issue I went into the bios and disabled Sata. Now my motherboard will not display anything. It powers on fine and looks as if it is working but it nothing will show up on the monitor. The LED's on the motherboard display 06. Does anyone have any idea as to why this might be happening? Did I mess something up by disabling Sata in the bios? Please help!

I Raja clearing CMOS results in a black screen. The motherboard does not recover. I could not install windows because it said windows will not install on a partitioned drive or something like that. This is odd because I was able to install windows on the gigabyte board fine on the same drive but I cannot now install it with this asus board. Should I return this board and ssd? I would get the rampage 4 instead.im so tired and frustrated at this pOint of x79. I just want it to work. Thank you for your help and advice.

Wanna ask:
Has anyone encounter issues with sleep, specifically waking up from sleep to discover their system halts with their Rampage IV Extreme?
I don't fold@home, so therefore to save time the next day, I tend to sleep the system during the night; usually the next morning I discover my system won't wake properly. RIVE debug status seems to get stuck in "30" - can see windows login screen, mouse pointer movable but no overall response - even after 30mins :(

Supposedly the Z77 mobo have the 11 - 11.6 bios oroms
I dont see how he can mod the 3.0.0.XXXX RSTe bios oroms snce they are the enterprise version of Intel RST - RSTe. Another guy says the 11.5 RST may be embedded in the larger Intel RSTe 3 series with SAS option
So, we shall see

I'd like to get some DDR3-1866 or even DDR3-2100 and notice that there are kits available in each that use 1.5v but are not on the QVL list for the motherboard....
My system is at default.... and still i have sleep issues, system refuses to go sleep mode... always rebooting, i dont get it and dont understand why no one cares or help :shrug:Quote:

Now the TurboV EVO, only shows the CPU VCore voltage under load, you don't see the other adj. values. What is my VccSA or VTT under load? There shouldn't be disconnect in TurboV functions or display if the hardware is there to report it.
I am running CPU FAH V7 Beta, pegs the CPU @ 100; I've lowered the Multiplier to 'auto' and for my 3930k, it autos at 38x My temps on the VCore VRM after 15 mins is: 67c. This is not bad under 100% load, but also its only running at 3.8Ghz

Whatever. My son's rig was running at 4.4 24/7 and the VRM maxxed out at 72c and was totally stable. We didn't lose any sleep over it. He's currently on the P9X79 Deluxe now as he wanted the enhanced features. I'm sure he VRM runs just as hot as well :shrug:Quote:

Infact, I believe 5Ghz and above is possible with the appropriate cooling (something I'm working on at the moment).
Coming from a workstation, I never planned on sleeping my machine... allowing it to burn the midnight oil like there's no end in sight. Everything we just honky dory till i tried sleep! OMG, that one experienced led to one huge annoyance!! I felt the urge to find a cure!!
My system had serious insomnia. Asking windows to sleep was a definite no no; they're more short brief naps where everything appears to enters a low-powered state, seconds later followed by a power up then a full on system crash!!! Depressing the reset button resulted in no effects what-so-ever!!
Finding out what is preventing the system from sleep was the key...
Solution:
From command prompt type
to check what device and driver are preventing it to enter S1/S3.Code:powercfg -requests

You should get ideally get 'none' or windows will tell you what device.
Disable that device that is preventing it to enter S1/S3.

You should get S1/S3. Otherwise, make sure you didn't disable it in Windows or in motherboard BIOS.
Wake on LAN
On older systems those WoL features were controlled in the BIOS. However to due to advancement and user convince they've all been moved into the operating system, accessible via the Control Panel.

Don't use more than one volt/temp monitoring tool at once, it will cause misreads.

I never do... But a couple weeks ago, sometimes on desktop after a start or reboot i get an Ai Suite alert (pop up) regardind my voltagens. I dont know where's the source of that alert, so i opened AIDA64 to see my voltages reads and then notice the -5V read (-5 V -2.082 V)... Is this value right?! :confused:Quote:
