Fixes
- Endurance testing, further ensuring that the MD5 testfile can no longer be cached.
- Initial testing on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 showed no issues.
Next release will include most of the functionality that was supposed to be included in this release.
(unfortunately I have been travelling most of the summer so no time yet to fix the last few missing pieces)
I'll have a look at making a "Roadmap" sometime next week.

on another note, where can i find information on how to read the data from the benchmark - i am trying to set my workstation up as a photo editing workstation for doing large pano's and one of the bottlenecks is the storage.
So using your benchmark i was hoping to be able to test and configure the storage, in such a way, that best suits what I do.
also, maybe we need to have a leaderboard, what drive or drives that performs the best with said controller... i ain't no programmer so i will have to let someone else do the work

i am not sure whats going on here, but i just d/l RC5 and ran a test - now this array is connected to my Areca 1882ix but when you look what the software is saying, it says that its a Seagate drive and the driver is a magasas2 (LSI) when its clearly not.

Hello! Thanks for making an awesome application, I just wonder one thing:
Will this be released on another platform than Windows? I have a lot of computers, both at work and at home, which does not run Windows (and I want it to stay that way). It would be great to run this software on Linux/Mac OS X as well.

could you please to add possibility of copy all results to clipboard as text? The screenshot doesn't always comfortable, and "copy results to clipboard" function grabs only summarized scores, not read/write ratings in MB/s.

Your MD5 checking function seems to be broken in RC5. No matter what file I point it to, it always comes back with the same checksum.
OK, I can reproduce the issue when testing a file sitting on the same drive as the application, I'll fix :)
There is no issue when being used the way it was meant to be used, as in, testfile is put on a different drive.
(anyways I'll find out what's going on, meanwhile put the file to be tested on a separate drive)

can you guys with cards (ie cache from 1 gig up) increase your test file size? the 4k reads are a bit inflated because of cache/test file at cache size. your ssds can't produce those numbers, especially at single 4k Qdepth...
are there ways to tweak more?

I recently just bought 2 OCZ Vertex 4 128GB SSD's and I have them in Raid 0. I just ran Anvil and my score is extremely slower then the one screen shot above. What can I do to better this score? Thanks in advance.
I cannot upload any JPG file for some reason, the website states that my Anvil screen shot is not a valid picture file? :shrug:
My final score was 4,957.58

You need to enable write caching in RST panel and disable cstates and speed stepping in bios and select high performance power plan in windows

I have done what B Gates advise me to do, Write Caching was already enabled for the RAID so I did not change that put I did have all my C states on Auto and my speed stepping was ON as well so I turn all of those OFF and finally I changed the power plan in Windows from Balanced to High Performance. I re-ran the bench and my score is little higher by about 400 points for a grand total of 5,326.04 but I should be getting around 8000 total right with 2 Vertex 4 in Raid 0? I would upload a before and after screenshot but each time I try the add file engine is telling me that my jpg or png files are not a valid image file even they are and they are below the size limitation.
there must be something else that I must to do to get these SSD's to work faster?
I've notice that it's my write numbers that don't look right. My 4K write is 85.06 my 4K QD4 write is 276.09 and my 4K QD16 write is 386.29. Those numbers are half or even less then what they should be any ideas?

write caching is still not enabled you need to do it in IRST control panel then it will look like this:

i have enable write caching in the IRST control panel. I have the Intel SSD Toolbox and I don't see anything in there that I can do with these Vertex 4. I can make changes to my other RAID because they are Intel SSD's but I am very limited in what I can do with the Vertex 4's :(

I decided to hit the disable and run the test again and I got a score of 5,100 so enable or disable does not make much of a difference for me. And what's even weirder is now I can't re-enable write-caching. Look at pic, it's just not there :( MMaybe it's something with Windows 8?

Well I figured how to re-enable write-caching on my system. I had to disable it again in device manager policies and then reboot, then re-enable it in device manager and rebooted. Then I went into IRST and notice that the write-caching was re-enabled. I re-ran the bench and this is my score. Still low compared to other Vertex 4 128GB (128 stripe)

something is wrong because your 4k writes could not be so slow if write caching is enabled. Uninstall 11.7 driver and try this one http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...?DwnldID=21407 its way faster and its easy to enable write caching

This test is a joke...
Interesting first post after registering in 2008..lol
ATTO tests with compressible data which the SandForce controller in our 520's love. SF doesn't fair as well with the incompressible data used in your Anvil test run. You can also set Anvil to use compressible data as well if you want to. I use the 46% 'Application' setting when I bench to make sure all is well. I wouldn't know how to act with 6x 520's and nice raid card...lol

I don't get any of the labels for each of the fields, so instead of it saying Free Space in the orange field, it is simply repeating the free space value for the label (in this case 65.69)

I've been noticing that with some of the NVMe drives that are coming out that ASU doesn't seem to be hitting the same kinds of throughput or random IOps numbers that have been quoted. Is there any desire to update ASU to better utilize the NVMe drives either throw a queue depth change or a thread change?
I had the same issue and came across your post while searching for a fix. I didn't find one, but I managed it on my own. It seems you need to run Anvil's Storage Utilities from the drive you're trying to run the endurance test on :)Quote:
