wait.. you implying that i say/show ultra settings but its actually just on high settings ??
its on ultra except no aa and high quality settings thru control panel

Oh sorry, I thought you were having it set as "HIGH" inside the game :) I think your setup can do a bit of AA, perhaps 2 x MSAA?
nap i join with some nice pics like you, some downsampled 2560x on ultra settings some on 1920x ultra settings

I have a new MSI GeForce N580GTX Lightning Xtreme Edition, first test;
910 mhzs core 1,025V
http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/457/3d4g.th.png
44*C load with that thing? What is your ambient? No PWM cooling at all?
Nice mod man!!!I use the antec 620 in the gtx480.I really like these kind of modifications.
Is there any point to flash bios with upped max voltage? how much more core clock there is to get from 1.150mV -> 1.2mV
30-50 MHz max with 1.213V, depends on cooling AIR/Water ...
Here's mine Air(cold) cooled
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/1...0227528579.jpg
Is it safe to run a GTX 580 DirectCu II at 1.213V with it's cooler? I know that VRMs are the weak point of 580, but DCII has different ones...
Is it true that OVP is disabled on this cards?
VRM's are the weakpoint of 570's but the 580's seem solid IMO. When you ramp the voltage right up under LN2 sure the DCII's can provide more/cleaner power but at comparatively 'low' voltages of 1.15-1.21v the reference cards should be fine.
No idea about that. Someone will know!

Well, I meant that overclockersclub.com review says that "the (580) DirectCU II does not have the hardware and software current limitations imposed on the reference design", but a "series of fuses used as a means to fully protect the core from over current situations"...
When does OVP/OCP kick in on a reference card? Anyone running hard modded at 1.2-1.3v for awhile and could comment?
i tested my cuII for a bench running @ 1,29v cooled with water and temp was not over 45° ;) . card is still alive and had no problems @all, but for 24/7 i would not recommend this voltage, but btw i saw that ekwb had a full cover for this card
Here two of my three GTX580's
http://hwbot.org/submission/2227994_
1110MHz under water!!!
The third can do that too, but my PSU (Enermax MaxRvo 1500) is too shabby for that. Need immediately one more PSU!
asua GTX580 DirectCU II @ 1GHz \2400 memory\1.188v .

congrats on the results guys amazing cards
do you think that puting mines with full cover blocks will improve OC ? currently they do max 981/4600 at 1,175 more will crash on 3DM11 but on 3DM06 i can go 991 on air reference EVGA GTX580's vid 1.0
cheers !
Sergio
I have flashed my BIOS with overclocked speeds and altered the max allowable voltage which both work fine, however I'm having trouble flashing a specific voltage to my card. If I change the P15 state (field 1) voltage to a value other than stock when I boot into windows it will just reflect the stock VID, but if I also change field 0 to the same voltage it will again detect only stock VID on boot but when I hit 'reset' in MSI afterburner, it sets the voltage that I set in BIOS + 0.0125v, so for example I set 1.1505 for fields 1 and 2 and flash, then in windows it detects as 1.088v (stock) under load, then I hit 'reset' in MSI AB and it sets to 1.163v.
Anyone know how to flash a specific P15 state voltage to the card so it detects it on boot switches to it in 3D without the use of any OC software?
EDIT- DW I figured it out.
920c|1840s|2300m @ 1.11v load (DMM) done through BIOS. Might go a bit higher but I was figuring out the BIOS modding part of it first.
http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/w...11vBIOSmod.png
Thanks mate. Much cleaner solution that using overclocking software and setting voltage etc. I just like BIOS taking care of it all and it does very nicely.
:yepp:
H100 Mode .
Well, thanks, I reached 1Ghz with my DC II with 1,213 (I didn't effort any more); as I'm on air, is it better to manually raise fan speed, or auto is enough? GPU don't go over 65° with auto, but VRMs heatsink and backplate are a little hot. But fan at 100% is sooooo annoying...
Are all direct cu ii so good ?
Short answer no. On air/water they are about as good as any reference card and your chances of getting a gem are no better or worse from what ive seen. They perform better than most on subzero as the beefed up VRM comes into play.
Having some issues with my 3dmark11 bench, looking at other people's on hwbot they are scoring considerably higher for a similar spec'd system.
for example
this guy is scoring 22111 with a considerably lower overclock than mine, what i did notice though was his pixel fillrate was considerably higher than mine.
any input would be most appreciated

here is my system

This score is VERY low!
A similar system...

@orson
What PSU do you have?
I think this is the problem.
Try Silverstone + 3× GPU and Enermax + board + 1× GPU.
no luck unfortunately, still scoring in and around 19k, maybe i should try reverting back to an old version and see what it scores
Hi, guys!! The official website of Asus saw just such a card - MARS II
Has anyone experienced it possible?
Is that supposed to take our attention away from 7970?
:D
Trying to keep that cool would be fun! It might be faster than a GTX590 which are POS that blow power fets when you look at them the wrong way, but faster than 2 GTX580's overclocked? No way. That one's for the fanbois.
Is there any way to set "voltage at startup" with EVGA Prevision (EVTune)?
The "tick" on "run with windows startup just does nothing".

I didn't try more, i dont wont to burn my card :/
I have 2 msi gtx580, but the second card isn't stable on the windows (without load) 955/2004/1544 with any voltages (v1.213). lol
When I install Arctic Cooling Accelero XTREME Plus II in the first videocard (1001/2350/2002 | 1.175 V.) I'll try to overclock harder..
Any thoughts on 1.2v 24/7?
Anyone done it for any period of time? I have a Asus DCUII but it's not that great of a clocker, i need 1.1v just to be BF3 stable at 832/1664/2100, runs cool though about 55c.
@ 1.2v 975/1950/2200 is game stable temps about 65c...
Yes on air, at 832/1664/2100 at 1.1v in Bf3 I rarely pass 55c
Its a DCUII, I don't have metro installed cuz i hated it.
its ok, but vgpu 1.2 975/1950/2200 in Bf3 65c looks unreal.
I have msi gtx 580 lighting XE @975/2400(gpu/memory) vgpu 1.181 in bf3 ~ 81c (cooler 75%).
________
My reference gtx580 dead after installing Arctic Cooling Accelero XTREME Plus II and treads of hard overclocking :/
Yeah, DCII cooler is amazing! I'm now running at 1000/2400 with 1.175V. Assassins Creed Revelation (full HD, no AA, all at max) heats it up to 55/60° with auto fanspeed (reaches 28% max).
Rattle can you make screenshot after 5 min run bf3 (msi afterburner) on vgpu 1.2 975/1950/2200 plz ?
Just some minute test
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/2498/immagineww.png
looks like 50% load on the gpu.
try again with unigine heaven benchmark with 1000 core. my guess is, you wont pass.
my EVGA 580's on SLI open case dont go above 60C with a high ambient temp of 27C and its using 77% of each on BF3 maxed out 1920x1080, i just have a custom fan profile and a fan blowing to them
im using this

Hi Guys
I have the MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC card. Great card but i've just have a few issues.
First off, my card gets very hot when playing BF3. My card reaches 92 Celsius easy with fan ramped to 85%
Def clocks is Core 800 and Mem 2048. GPU Voltage is 1025.
I see my cards fan speed only goes up to 85% in MSI Afterburner. Can anyone else with this card confirm?
Link to card:
http://www.msi.com/pic/product/five_...0114144115.jpg
Ja, i wish i had a block for this card. It gets frikken hot!.
I saved my Bios using GPU-Z. I tried using Nibitor to save bios but it doesn't detect it.
I tried to edit the bios but can't change any sliders?
What app are you guys using to edit bios.
After you saved the bios with GPU-Z you have to change the extension from BIN to ROM. After you open the bios with Nibitor you go to tools to change values on clocks and voltages.
You can read this: http://www.overclock.net/t/989627/fe...gtx-4-5-series to better understand how it works.
hi guys,
lost my original CUII Bios. can anyone send to me the orig. rom pls ?
tia
thx mate :D
Nibitor doesn't seem to read my BIOS correctly.
Need to go into fermi clocks and fermi voltages area. They are domains not voltage settings like old school cards.
