stick with prime 95 and linx
between both of those you should be good

Ok, but is small fft the way to go?....I never let it run for more than a an hour or two
There is no such thing as the ultimate stress test... if there no signs of instability during daily use, eg corrupt extraction of RAR files, errors while copying, abnormal program terminations you are fine....
some prefer LInX ( linpack stress tool ) but for SB you need to install SP1 for Win7 for proper testing. Some prefer Prime95 small and blend, some do hyperpi32 ( all cores selected ) FYI I can pass all of them yet still crash during online gaming lol...
I demand rock solid stability personally. I have been going with:
avx linx 20 pass (use most/all ram); easiest to pass but finds bad oc fastest
then p95 6-8hr small fft; hard to pass
then p95 6-8hr blend; hardest to pass when playing with ram
then 3dmark01 extreme 2ish hr loop; watch your temps on gpu
After I passed all that I haven't had a single oddity or crash excepting one application freeze in SC2 which I attribute to solely SC2 or realtek audio drivers.

Hi
no answer for me ?
Thanks
I have SP1 for W7 installed.
That is my issue aswell. I can get pass different stress testing and som benchmarks like 3DMark series, but when playing BFBC2 its all a gigant crash lol. But i know that BFBC2 is abit unstable itself sometimes :D
Here is my Linx result, but i have no idea what settings to use and what to look for. No errors is all i can read/understand
http://bildr.no/thumb/867930.jpeg
EDIT: What settings is common thinking about : Problem size, Memory and run (Times or Minutes?? )
Re: stress testing:
I beleive most use Intel Burn Test these days:
http://www.ultimate-filez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9
You'll need to update it with the latest dll but i cant seem to find those instructions at the moment. Perhaps someone else can assist?
Just so i understand it right you/TheHardCase says it should hit 100+ and from what i can see i only got 59 right??
His GLOPS are low because he is running 8 threads (has hyper threading on). You put more stress on your CPU with LinX and SB and Win7 SP1 if you turn Hyper threading off or in the LinX settings select 4 cores instead of 8. Make sure you watch your temps, they will be hotter than that 8 thread run you just posted and your gflops should be around 100Gflops or higher at that speed. I am getting around 130Gflops at 5Ghz right now and get around 120-125 at 4.8Ghz.
@deachus
Lateste linpack will give you more then 100Gflops while runing 8threads, this is the hardest test you can throw at a SB with HT on :)
Ahh....thx for helping out guys :D
I just did a new run with 4.6Ghz and 8Mb of ram at 2133Mhz to see if that could end up different, but it didnt.
Anyway i will now do a test with 4 cores selected in LinX. Is that going to be the same or end up the same thinking about the results choosing 4 cores in the LinX rather than turning off Hyperthreading in bios?
If you wanna test for stability with HT, download this linx but watch out the temps. It will be harder to pass then linx at 4threads with HT off. I can run HT off at 5 with as low as 1.376 but with HT on I need around 1.392v to make it passe . It will also give you ~100Gflops or very near that, it changes with Ghz and mem frequency/timmings
Here is my run with 4.6Ghz and 8Gb mem 2133Mhz:
http://bildr.no/thumb/868198.jpeg
I now chose 4 cores in LinX. Does the result look like they should with those settings? Cause there is no different in the temps when chosing 8 or 4 cores in LinX. The temps are stable around 59-60 Celcius
what linx for AVX ??? i just get new 2600K again most test it :D
I haven't tested 4 threads vs 8 threads gflops results since the last week of March 2011 but here are my results 4 thread vs 8 thread LinX max mem at 5GHz. Seems 4.5Ghz Club thread was updated 4/18/11 as follows "(Update: 18 Apr, 2011) Run LinX on all the available threads from now on. This is mandatory. It appears that the new Linpack libraries fix this bug. I will test latest LinX tonight and post new results as well.
5GHz - HT On 8 Threads - Sub 100 GFLOPS
http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/s...98-24-1T-1.jpg
5GHz HT Off 4 Threads - 130+GFLOPS
http://i580.photobucket.com/albums/s...0-1T_AVX-1.jpg
I will now do a run with HT off in bios. Chose 4 threads in Linx and 4.7Ghz... How much does the ram do on the result btw ??...I guess i have some crappy sets of Xms3 2000Mhz with 9-10-9-27 2T default. They now run at 10-11-11-24 2T
You aren't use AVX, use the linX I linked above...
@Deachus
Ahrm pls pls research 1st... I sad last linX, if you did a bit of research you would have noticed that it brought a new HT implementation that gave a pretty nice boost with the whole 8 threads.
My post in LinX club...

New Linx with HT , 8T, voltage 1.424~1.432v

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/395/htonnewlinx.jpg
Desclaimer: I had to bump the volts from 1.420v to 1.44v ( in bios ) in order to run HT on without freezes/BSOD. 1.420v freezed after few seconds, 1.435 BSOD after the 2nd run. Also keep in mind that I'vent yet been working in to optimizations for HT on voltages, so what did was just work the vCore out until I got it stable, more can be done to bring vCore to around 1.435 at least, I'm sure.
I will do a last run on with the LinX you just linked to with HT on and 8 threads. Why dont the my temps change with or without HT disabled/enabled in bios on 4 thread in Linx( the old one i guess) ?? Its not going over 60 Celsius whatsoever
And again...does the timings and Mhz on ram affect the score/result in Linx?
http://bildr.no/thumb/868423.jpeg
This one was quite more heavy, but the result is now what it should look like...I needed 1.4V to get 4.6Ghz running that test :(
EDIT: Trying for 4.7Ghz and now im doing 1.45v...dont like my chip at all :(
EDIT: Even at 1.5V 4.7Ghz it will not complete 1 run in the Linx, but it passes Prime95 1st selftest. I dont get any BSOD or freeze while doing Linx, but some error messages and Linx continues running at half speed or tourch cause the temp drops from 75C to 60 after about 1.5 minutes in Linx
I dont know whats wrong...
Hi All,
I'm on my 2nd MIVE B3 and seems to have the same issue as the first . Has anyone installed the latest (or any) RST driver successfully? I've tried the ones on the Asus website, but they don't work (stall on restart). Current bios is 1101, but I'll be trying 1485 tonight .. hopefully that works.
Thank Raja@ASUS, hopefully the new bios is the key, let me know how you make out.
Instead of starting an argument why don't you read my above post fully and see that I was saying you where correct that a new version of LinX fixed the 4T vs 8T problem and I was going to retest my system. Some people are so quick to argue or tell people they are wrong:( What is XS coming to, used to be such a helpful place.
Try this ;)
http://www.station-drivers.com/telec...ivers.com).exe
on my board work very well :)
I found latest Intel RST: 10.5.0.1022
http://www.station-drivers.com/forum...hp?f=32&t=3086
MASON@ASUS what is the correct driver to use on this board running on the Intel SATAIII for a OCZ Vertex 3 drive?
Remove DVD Drive and try again (if you have it hooked).... I had this problem with all my X58/P67 mobos... and lastest RST drivers... I think it's an Intel problem... i guess they just screw'd up something with the new 10 version of RST...
With X58 i could just use old RTS Driver (9.something) but not in the P67, so my solution was using usb dvd roms drives...
I have a problem... I now run 4.7Ghz with 1.4v and ram on 2133 10-11-11-24-1T and its rock stable. Actually i cant get 4.8 rock stable without using 90v on the cpu :P
Anyway the main problem is: I have now manual timings, cpu v and dram v manual and cpu pll overvoltage enabled. The rest is all auto. If i now set YES on Load Extreme OC Profile and restart the computer it will not boot, well it does when it has tried to start up 3 times and then i get OC failed. I go in the bios again and just pressing F10 and it boots up fine, but now the problem comes...The boot logo screen in the beginning is not showing. It goes directly to that screen were you usually get told that you should press F1 bla bla bla and overclocking failed bla bla bla. Going fine into windows and then there is no sound or internet???? It happens every time the boot logo in the beginning is not showing, then i know there will be no internett or sound. I have tried everything on doing something in bios to make it boot with sound and internet, but no luck. I have to reset CMOS to get it restored
Any ideas?
Some results ...
With a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1,
1204 + RST 10.5 = works
1485 + RST 10.5 = works
Some observations & concerns
- RAID5 dropped the #5 port drive after both bois updates (deleted and rebuilt array afterwords each time, since it was empty - but after there is lots of data on it this could be a considerable problem)
- Explore freezing and not responsive ( can't get driver CD to open, can't update my Windows Update settings, can't install Windows Essentials AV - seems to be a bad install - will be re-installing again tonight - but if this is a real problem could be deal breaker)
- Bois 1485 also seems to have included an iROG firmware update
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help, hopefully another clean install tonight will clear up the explorer freezing issue.
Silver are you talking about explorer freezing for a few secs at a time?
If so I had the same problem, I download the new chipset driver & it seems to have fixed that problem.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...ility&lang=eng
Dated April 21 so it was just released...
Thanks TheHardCase, I'll try that when I get home. I guess pushing the leading edge has it's drawbacks (waiting for drivers), it's advantages too . 4.5Ghz+ :)
Update:
- TheHardCase, thanks the driver find, worked great (though I did need a fresh install to get them working)
- Everything else seems fine. Will hopefully get time Sunday to start tweaking ... P9389 for 3Dmark 11 with everything stock and default.
Has anyone tried the ROG connect or RC Bluetooth with there smart phone to OC the MIVE? I finally got it to work kinda of cool to see your Temps,Vcore, and reset or shut down your system.
I have connected it with my android and its really cool indeed, but is useless for me cause i would not dare to use my mobile to OC my baby :D
So, still one now lingering problem ... the DVD-Drive won't read anything, if I stick in a disc (the driver dvd or say Starcraft 2) and open my computer and click on the drive, it just sits there and eventually crashes explorer
Anyone else had this problem? I'm going to try moving the DVD drive to the marvell controller and see if that helps.
How can it be now that when i adjust the Bus speed (default 100) it only affect dram freq? I mean when i did that some days ago the cpu freq increased aswell and not just the memory.... Now i have bus speed at 105 and 45x multiplier and cpuid shows bus speed at 100 and 45x multiplier, but the memory is almost at 2000 now
What have i done now lol ???
Can you guys please post up the RTL value reported in BIOS. I need RTL, CAS and memory frequency please. Just working on something here and I could do with a broad range of data to confirm it works.
Thanks
Raja
2133-2250mhz 7-10-7-27
bclk 100-105.5mhz set in bios
RTL 35,36
Thanks. I need more results; various frequencies and CAS please.
@ 2133 cas 9, 8Gb ripjaws 9-11-9-28
I can only use 38, else then that no boot ( either 39, 40 or lower such as 37 36 )...
@1866 cas 8 ( 8-9-8-24 )
I can only use 35~36, else no boot
Thank you. The fact the margin is so tight is actually a good fit for how this all appears to work.
From a user perspective it's only CAS and memory frequency, as you can't control any of the other variables that tie into the sensed value (well, there may be something but it won't help performance anyhow). The main thing here is that the correct value is selected by the IMC out of a two clock margin.
So we should focus on tweaking the timmings and let the IMC auto choose the correct RTL value ? And get RTL lower wont benefit performance, Have I take the correct conclusions ?
Lower would be faster, but you won't actually be able to move RTL far enough to affect performance in a meaningful way. Intel has already optimized data transfer for performance.
The only thing that is worth noting from this is that there are certain memory frequency and CAS combinations that fall near the edge of a boundary to make a data transfer. This isn't really an issue until you push the system way beyond officially supported memory speeds (DDR3-2000 and upwards), at which point the sensed value might be 1 clock away from a more ideal value to transfer data.

I've moving around with some interesting instability issues and they may have something to do with what you are saying.
I know for sure my CPU does 5Ghz with 1.376v
I can pass wtv amount of LinX run's with him but with mem at 1866 8-9-8-24.
My mems can also make with CPU @ default 9-11-9-28 2133, but the combo, 5Ghz and mems @ 2133 is a no go, I run 2 runs and LinX crashes. With mems @ 1866 I've around 140Gflops, before crashing ( linx error ) with mems @ 2133 I get around 141Gflops ( till now all good ) but, I've tryed to tweak around with vccSA and vccIO giving him 1.16v vccIO will make him run more then 2Linx round ( around 7/8 ) but with sub-par performance around 137 gflops.
In the end I gave up... and use it with 933 mems with lower timmigns... And with 2133 wtv voltage in bios 1.375 // 1.380 till 1.4v it will allways crash @ the 2nd round...
Hi
st0ned > how you can have 5 Ghz with 1.376 V ?
i search to have this setup on my motherboard
Thanks ;)
Has anyone with 4GB RAM managed to reduce Vcore by upping VCCIO/VCCSA? If you're on 8GB then it makes a difference if you meddle with VCCIO/VCCSA but how about 4GB setups? I tried on mine, no big difference it seems. Vcore hungry chip!
It's almost all about the chip, I got to tweak a bit but that let me drop ~0.015v all the rest is pure chip awesomeness. I never cared about taking a PS of my 5G, but
http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/9104/5000r.jpg
Few passes.
This is my 5.1 1.416v PS
http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/3152/5100lowv.jpg
Thanks st0ned for your answer ! i see why i can't do that
i have HT on 4 cores 8 threads
4 cores and 4 threads i put 1.38 V and run ;)
i want 5Ghz with HT on . . . if possible, but i have aircooling thermalright silver arrow and it s hot with 1.455V on CPU
Thanks
HT on wasn't that hard before latest linpack came up ( the one that let was go >100gflops with HT on ) but even that, atleast for me needs 0.015v more then HT off to pass. I can later give it a run. When I tested the new lipack I had to go for 1.424v at 5.1Ghz instead my normal 1.416 for stability.
If you can do the 5 with HT off @ 1.38v ( take 25 run PS for proof ) you should do it with HT on at around 1.4v no more then that. HT aint that big hit for SB as it was fore 1st gen i7. My chip goes for the same temps with HT or without it and it gives me ~+2W ( by hardware monitor ).
EDIT:
Proof for it

I have something called GPUTweakit and RC Tweakit on my desktop. When i click on GPUTweakit the program starts up and shows up in the taskbar. When i right-click on it i can only choose about and exit...about says something about GPUTweakit server 1.00.10 and thats it. What is this software doing actually. I guess it has something to do with the Graphics card or?
And when i click on the RC Tweakit it says: The connection is not available...What is this program doing???
Those should be installed in a "server" computer, then you connect that computer to yours with the USB cable provided with the MB , any USB port in the "server" PC and ther ROG port in your "slave" PC ( ROG port is the only one in vertical position ) with that you can change settings ( OC stuff ) using the "serveR/master" to control the "slave" on :)

Funny Problem,
If I use updated Intel drivers I get freezing when I use Internet Explorer ect.
Tried this 3 times with fresh Windows 7 64bit.
If I install from Asus disk no problems.
No Microsoft Updates were applied.
This is were it gets funny, I'm running triple sli & when i install windows explorer 9 I get higher video card temps hitting over 60c just browsing the net. I have no clue why this is going on but if I leave explorer 8 installed my temps are around 40c.
What you guys think, should i buy MIVE or should i wait Z68-based high-end mobo?
Got great deal from MIVE and still have B2-version P8P67 Deluxe so it will be easy chance.. or not?

Dominator gt 2000 c8? I had two kits, one of them could run 2260MHz c8 with 1.65v, but both of them couldn't run 2133mhz on 9-9-9. GTX2 have no problems, running 2133MHz 7-7-6 @ 1.65v.
both sets of my Dominator GT 2000 c8, and a set of STT 2200c8 both did not work well with any of my P67 boards, but the GSkill Ripjaw X 2133 8-9-8 kit is killer on sandy bridge. I have been wondering what the higher bin is on the GSkill Ripjaw X line, there is two 2133 kits one 7-10-7 and the other 8-9-8 with the latter being priced about $10 higher and on the 2200 kits there is a 7-10-10 and a 9-9-9 kit with the later being priced higher as well. The cas 7 kits are black while the cas8/9 kits are blue, other than that I have no idea what the better kit is.
On the GSkill website they have a 2300 kit that is rated at 7-10-10 as well which makes me think that the c7 sticks are the higher bin even though they are cheaper than the c8/9 sticks, but I really have no idea as they both seem to clock pretty similar
Bios code seems not optimised on the ahum lower end boards with Hypers... Everything works fine with the ES CPU, put in a retail on eg the Dlx and it goes nuts over 1900ish... this with Hypers... M4E works fine with enough ram voltage ( 1.75ish ) and a good Hyper ram kit
Really hopes Asus steps away and supports all boards with the appropriate bios code...
Is that superpi 32M stable at just 1.65Vdimm ? I can rock 3D easy peasy, but at Superpi 1m it freezes... I'm needing over 1.72 to get even remotely stable...
Ripj X 2133/8-9-8 on my MIVE 2200+ 6-9-6-24 Vdimm 1.82 and Vcsa 1.1ish
Haven't test Ripj X 2200/9-9-9 yet.
Hi to one and all,
I've just got a MIVE and have played around with the *MANY* settings but I cannot fathom out certain parameters. I need further help with things like the "Skew" settings, Digi+VRM/POWER and Turbo power settings. I have been through the ASUS guide on here and on "Hard forum" and checked the pages of this thread. I've checked the Asus website also.
Really annoying.
Can someone point me to the info on these mysteries.
So whats up with Intel's 6gbs contoller?
Looks like my freezing has stopped when there is nothing on controller.
I removed both ssd drives & bam system runs like a top.
Why in older bios do they have control to reduce speed from 6Gbs down to 3Gbs?
Or is it because Intel really never fixed the problem? or just a cheap controller?
Or Asus can't control because of EFI bios?
I find this BS because I pay for something & everything should work.
I need this controller working 100% Asus or Intel fix the problem.
all the fan headers on the m4e are 4 pin pwm...
Can cpu temp be used to control rpm on all the headers or just the header labeled for the CPU?
I've been having some random BSOD's and all of them were while writting or reading from my raid ( that is connected to de SATA 2 ports ). I went to bios and bumped PCH and PCH PLL volts, and I've stop the BSOD's at least for the last 5 days. I think that this might be my B2 giving up :(
I google the BSOD's and they weren't OC related ( they also didn't show in the normal OC BSOD's as 101 124 , etc... ) for what I've found they were memory write reading ore something like that error.
Any words in what were the simptoms for bad B2 chipset ?
