Typical of that voltage would be 900MHz or 910 maybe. Ram would be 2150 max.

Max of 77*C with the fan max 76%. Guess I'll crank up the fan a bit more and see if it makes a difference.
Edit: Raising the fan makes no difference, still getting green red and blue lens flares in random places. Might have to give the voltage another bump to get it stable at 910. Gonna try it at 900 even and see what happens.
Looking fine at 875 / 1750 / 2200 @ 1.075... I'll tweak with it more later.
950/1900/2300 is easy at 1.1v ... I tried 1ghz at 1.1v but didn't make it all the way through the benchmark.
Even though my card is an asus, it didn't come with the asus bios or id but it does have their sticker and packaging.
Here's my baseline run with 8xAA
Attachment 110578Attachment 110579
And the OC run also with 8xAA, my cpu is at 3.5ghz right now and seems to be holding me back in this benchmark since I got a lower minimum fps with the OC. Gpu temp holds steady at 32c.
Attachment 110580Attachment 110581
950@ 1.1V stable is very good.. have you tried playing 3d games for more than 1hr? i got mine stable in benchmarks (except vantage) @ 950 1.1 but it would crash in BFBC2 Vietnam.. also that ram clock is high and taking some of the voltage i believe - so you may need more.
My VGA need 1.213v for 1025 core.
VGA MSI, i flash BOIS EVGA. Stok voltage you set 1.213v

Vantage
Just got my EVGA GTX 580, VID is 1.000V.
Is this good?
Just got my EK 580 GTX in my loop last night. I have to say compared to the Swiftech blocks I've used, the install was the sucks but I didn't mind a challenge ( I like the fact Swiftech use threaded metal standoffs and have precut TIM unlike the EKs). Thankfully the performance was worth the effort
So far with my 1.025v card I'm running at 950/1900/2400 (1.138v yet to find the lowest voltage I can run at, tried running at 975core but wasn't stable ) which is getting 726x in 3D11 Performance. I'm quite impressed with how consistent (and quick) 3D11 is though, very nice ( extremly low varriance compared to Vantage and 06 )
Just curious whats with all these so called single card performance results at 8-9K+? ( I'm talking futuremark's result browser) They often have a much higher graphics score but their other sub scores are lower than mine in many cases. Is this Futuremark not properly detecting multi gpu systems? According to their info some of these 8-9K results were obtained with i7 under 4ghz and 580s under 900. Seems odd. That said many of them say non FM approved drivers but I don't see a beta doing that kind of magic, I'm running the 236.09s myself.
I'll try to get a heaven run up here in a bit.
Dang thats awesome, thanks mate :)
today i got the ek rotary fittings/ceramique/everything i need to complete the system finally
the 3x 1.025vidders recapped and ready for action.. the mobo+cpu+ram waterblocks are next.. maybe ill have it up and running later tonight/early morning i will not rest until its done

Here we go, Napalm is back on it :D Just my opinion, dont bother water cooling ram, its pointless in terms of longevity or clocks, and is a massive restriction in the loop. A second loop is not worth it for ram alone due to no gains or increased longevity. Air is fine for ram.
Caps are the shiznit. Napalm has even recapped his toaster for better browning performance :D
J/K. They help with voltage regulation and ripple, which can gain you clocks depending on original circuit design.
They'll be fine, people have run OC cards for years no problems. Just dont be running 90*C 24/7 folding or something.
I'm tempted by these GTX580's (would get an EK FC block too if I did) however my modded GTX295 @ 774c/1692s/1242m is scoring the same as GTX580's at 900-950c/1800-1900s/2200-2400m so I have no real reason to upgrade except for DX11 which is not really being utilized atm. I'd like one, but I don't need one just yet..........I'll keep an eye on this thread.
Ah lol ok :p:
^ :D
its alive!! its alive!! just mere minutes ago got lifeblood going thru the system and temps are low really low :) i have to worry about condensation
the mobo+waterblocks took long time to get done + ran into quality issue on the vrm waterblock anyways got it done nonetheless and i got pix along the way and will postem later today very tired right now
if all goes well ill post a benchmark in few mins
Awesome! Pics or it didn't happen.
Hi guys,
I made this video while i modified an nVidia GTX580 reference video card.
Modifications performed are: Cold Bug (CB), Cold Boot Bug (CBB), GPU voltage (vGPU), and vMEM (Memory voltage).
Hope it might help some guys to see what the modifications posted by Shamino look like in action.
Hardest bit was actually getting the voltage read points to stick to the capacitors (using a low powered soldering iron doesn't produce enough heat)
Be sure to view in 720p HD

Well I was able to get the cards (EVGA GTX 580 Hydro Coppers) to post at 1GHz, but found that they were not benchmark stable at that frequency. The temps were fine (low 60s) even at a voltage of 1.138V, but just wasn't stable. Same at 975MHz. The second GPU test on 3DMark Vantage crashes at that frequency.
950MHz works great in benchmarks, but I don't think I want to keep it there for my 24/7 setting as I have to crank the voltage up pretty hight to achieve that clock. 925MHz seems to be my sweet spot for daily use. Was able to throw multiple benchmarks and games at them in SLI, completely stable and never got above 54C at any point. The blocks seem to be performing just fine. Looks like I wasn't able to snag a card that can hit the coveted 1GHz like some of you guys did.
Ran Heaven DX11 benchmark for 30 minutes, then ran 3 loops of the Crysis Warhead benchmark maxed out with Enthusiast settings @ 1920x1200 with 16X AA. High temp during the entire process was 54C, and my Average FPS in Crysis was 81.21FPS. Loving these cards.:D
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5245/...923ee3d9_b.jpg
My GTX580 SLI can only do 940/1880/2150 @ 1.2v
NapalmV5 would you mind checking the height from the top pcb edge to the top of waterblock please. Thank you.
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/9...blockspace.png
Just measured mine for you. Looks to be 24mm. Bits power compressions won't fit on the top barbs without thread extenders. I just ended up using a normal barb on mine.
@ Aramageddon
I also settled on 925 myself, 950 is benchable but just. Haven't had any issues at 925 1.38 so far. I do wish there was a way to monitor VRAM temps on these though not that I'm doubting my mount :p:
Chickenfeed. Thanks a lot for the measurement.........;)
Hi everyone
Who can help me to test my modded 265.90 Driver .
I try to modify driver , support GTX580/570 .
win7/vista x64
I hope have somebody can help me .

long story short i had very poor water flow because of the parallel sli bridge the damn thing just traps air.. 2 cards running at 30C idle and 3rd card @ 80+C idle burning hot! thats how fooked up it got.. so in the afternoon went out and was able to find an 1800 gph water pump and with help of an eheim 1250 pump flow is proper finally.. parallel bridge was a really bad idea.. will be getting serial bridge asap hopefully by friday.. the other issue is the power supply the silvertstone st1500 is not adequate for overclocking these gpu monsters i will have to resort to 2x silverstone op1200.. see how that one goes
1st success on water cooling: 1.2v and only 32-33C @ 2x gpus 20-22C idle

Great system!!!
Forgot a 1 obviously :p:
The strange thing so far is out of everything I've ran ( and everything recent as far as I'm concerend ) WoW is the only game that doesn't play nice (random game crash / display driver crash ) but I don't know if its a driver issue or a clock issue, I sometimes encountered this on my 5870 as well. Crysis, Metro, AvP, JC2, BC2, GTA4, Borderlands, FC2, ME2, MoH, CoD, WiC.... all fine /facepalm WoW.
Nice looking setup Napalm. Hopefully you get those flow issues sorted.
My GTX580 will only do short benchs at 950 core with 1.138v, it's not stable.
:welcome:Well I am new to the forum and do not speak very good English, because I am Spanish, but here I explain my setup to see what you think, greeting:

Hello,
Got my GTX 580 FTW HYDRO COPPER 2 installed last week.
Yes 2- 580's would be better on my custom liquid cooling!!
But one is enough for me. On stock settings the GTX 580 runs BC2 with all settings maxed 60fps ( smooth as butter) and a lovley temp of 30C.

Safe Voltages--- GXT 580 FTW Hydro Cooper 2 ??
Dont think I need to OC but its fun and it Liquid!!
So far my results but only a short stress test, next time i will try for a few hours!!
How far can i push this? !!

i find using solder with the soldering iron actually helps heat up any spot much more.....just apply a lot of solder at the spot you are trying to heat up and wait for 5-10 seconds, pull it off and put a fresh dab of it and Bob's ya uncle. I actually use that to pull off caps off dead boards and similar sort of stuff
the other thing you can do is just find a spot on the back of the core for vcore and behind one of the mem modules for vmem, it will be an easier spot to solder to imo
You used the EK parallel bridge?
Did you have any issues with parallel in general?
I'm making my own build now with parallel connections.
But if its going to make a mess, I will switch to serial.

Hey guys
What temperature you have on EK FC on LOAD?
Yesterday i installed a block and have 53-55 on LOAD (stock 42-45 ). GPU 960 and 1.150V@3DM11.
Coolest running card I've ever owned and overclocking makes no difference.
Specs in sig... single loop. GPU @ 850/2100 1.012v TX-4 on the chip and EK thermal pads on the rest.
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/7...0octemp.th.jpg
I am very disappointed with the temperatures on the EK FC
Now the water is heated and temperature of the room is a little higher, i got very high IDLE/LOAD temp.
IDLE 40-42
LOAD 53+
GPU and voltage on stock.
WTF?
I think something is wrong. I installed FC two times
Those aren't horrendous temps or anything, assuming you aren't using super high rpm fans. It depends on your loop though. With a bigger rad, dedicated loop, better fans, pump or lower ambient the block will do better.
All that said those temps won't limit any overlocking efforts in any meaningful way. If the setup is substantially quieter than stock and with lower temps, what's to complain about, that is unless performance is your only air.
With my i7 in the loop with an xchanger 360, 3 1450 gentle typhoon and a mcp655 I'm getting load temps in the mid to high 40s with a max around 50. This is with the card at 1.138v 925/4400. My ambients vary by about 5-7c (18-25) and aren't that consistent.
Before 580 I had 2×460 on water (just GPU, not FC) and everything was ok.
I have 1× radiator + 3×120mm FAN, Laing DDC-Pump + TOP + Supreme HF + FC580 GTX - Nickel
Water circulation...
Reservoir --> VGA--> CPU--> radator--> reservoir
The following questions are not meant to be insulting... just double checking the mount procedure.
In mounting the fc block what t.i.m did you use ?
Did you use the ek thermal pads, cut to the proper size ?
Did you install the support bracket to the pcb with just the gasket under it and with the screws that ek provided.
Was there a full contact pattern on the t.i.m when you disassembled after the first mount ?
Are your cpu temps the same as before the 580 ?
Are you running just water or a premix ?
No problem ;)Quote:

Problem is that this is not my first water setup. But it's first temp. problem.
Yes and yes.Quote:

When i disassembled first time the contact was perfect.
CPU temperatures are about the same. Little higher.Quote:

I use water+antifreeze combination.
EVGA OC Scanner does not stress GTX 580's no matter what. You need to run really stressing programs like Heaven Benchmark, 3DMark11 at Extreme, GPU3 from Folding@Home, etc. Those overclocks you have at 1.1v doest not look right. You would need more voltage to get those clocks to run stable.
Anyone...?
MSI combustor or furmark does not stress GPU like vantage or 3DM11.
have they fixed the sli prob in 3dm11 yet?
That's great man ! :)
Exactly why I say so. Kombuter, FurMark, and OC Scanner are currently not working properly with GTX 580s, if you REALLY want to stress you card and see the temps rise, use 3DMark11 @ Extreme and Full Experience, you will see the combined heat with CPU n GPU if you WaterCool. Also, GPU3 from Folding@Home stresses the card by itself pretty hard.
Try Heaven Benchmark with all settings High and I bet you will see a ton of artifacts.
Honestly as useful as these synthetics can be heat / stress wise, in the end I've always found it best just to use the thing running actual games. I had a fair share of cards in my testing that had no issues with Furmark/Vantage/Heaven yet in real games would be unstable. They are a good base line but I wouldn't consider them the be all and end all.
What he said, hehe. Just make sure you run the most stressing game since some dont take your component's potential to the edge. If you try to go from say, Modern Warfare to Metro 2033, you will definitely see a diference after you thought you might be safe with your settings
COLE: That looks really nice! Hope you get the heat issues solved. What kind of thermal paste you using? What RAD do you have on that WC system?
For the test results this is what I had: GTX 580 @ 950mhz Core, 2125mhz Memory, 1.125v
Now:
GTX 580 @ 950mhz Core, 2200mhz Memory, 1.138v (Latest test=3hrs Black Ops, Max temp 46deg C)
Core i7 950 @ 4.21ghz (Latest test=3hrs Black Ops, Max temp 64deg C)

Load temperature? Voltage?
At first I looked at the pictures and was like what? 38C? But then I noticed its a gpu only block and it looks like your by an open window... low ambient hacks! Nice overclock.
Yeah, you noticed it good, window tweak ;) and GPU-only blocks are much more efficient then full cover ones. It was around 6°C outside and the blinds were down, no need for me to freeze.
It should be enough for summer days too, as my GTX 480 never went over 51°C. This one tends to crash when reaches high sixties on high clocks (over 950MHz), so this block should do just fine.
Alright, question that I didn't get answered in another thread...
What's the maximum safe 24/7 voltages for the 580? I'm running an unlocked BIOS with 1.213v max & 100% fan (currently running on an Accelero Xtreme PLUS as well). Would I be safe with 1.213v 24/7 with the aftermarket cooler / 100% fan?
Stock speeds max temp (typical ambient) is right at 55*C.

My 1.025V crashed Vantage at 950/2300 1.138V. Is there any difference between overclocking through Afterburner or Inspector?
Over 1ghz is really great..
Very Nice OC. We have cold temps too.
The EVGA hydro block does Very well.
Time to up the volts and OC!!!
What happened to NapalmV5 ? He hasn't been here since last year.
Hi guys! I don't get it... is your GTX580s @ 1.025v or 1.125v?

happy new year guys! :) nice clocks ^ watercooling setups ^ :toast:
just dropped by to leave an update.. idk where to start.. had several issues to overcome
- flow sorted after installing an eheim 1250 water pump between the gpus and cpu and another eheim 1250 between the rest of the water blocks and radiators
- added a second radiator to the loop - one is air cooled by a silent 360mm fan and the other is submerged in water - can sustain higher loads + lower temp now
- gpus were recapped for a 3rd and final time - perfectly balanced capacitance now - no whine from gpus nor psu - first recap produced xtreme whining from psu even @ 2x psus and had lost system stability
- stable system now
- i got areca 1231 raid card water cooled - the whole system is water cooled except psu
- the only issue i still have is tri-sli but for now am sticking to sli cause its going great

Does anyone think my 920 @ 200 bclk turns into a bottleneck with my 580 @ 1015/2200 during Mark11? I'm curious because Vantage and Heaven scores seem pretty good but eleven seems
poor compared to a lot of scores I see here. Just looking for opinions...
Looks like a poor contact. It spikes probably when the load is heavy.
I don't see any switches or jumper, but just to ask, can you disable PCI-E slots and run just 3rd card alone? That way full load will be on that one and it should overheat fast (watch for it, of course).
Or you can just squeeze it with your fingers (block over the GPU) and see if it gets better. ;)
