its a feser 360. afaik the thickest 360 rad next to xspc rx360 by 0.5mm i think

are u using a bitspower rad grill at the top..

hmm u know i had this casing in front of me for a day and i got sick of the quality of the top .
the grill is like crap for the 360 rad and wtf is that two bulging thing after the rad gril area at the top for??

but i love the amount of space at the back of the casing to run 3/8th's 5/8th tubings. afaik only case after thermaltake level10 gt that has
this amount of space. the tj07 has a lot of issue on this part.

I used a Bitspower grill 4x120mm.
This became a necessity after the change RX360 to the RX480.

However, I have the impression that Bitspower slightly reduces the flow of air through the too small holes in the mesh.
Of course, only at high speed fans.

Ok, I promise I will stop posting pics of my PC. This is the final set until I go SLI a while down the road when I need to. For the mean time, I am done with the mods and what not.

Whats new? BluRay Disk Burner, 4 AeroCool Shark Red Devil Fans, LED's on GTX 580 Block, Cathode Ray Light behind reservoir, and Red Single Braided NZXT power cord extensions for motherboard and video card. You might notice that the rear exhaust fan is set up to blow cold air in, so that is my intake besides the bottom fan mounted to the separator by pump. Since I dont like the AeroCool stickers on the back of fans I took off the Corsair one off the 40mm original fan and pasted it on the AeroCool rear fan.

ALMOST FORGOT, VERY IMPORTANT. NOTICE ON THE LAST PICTURE, I MOUNTED A BOTTLE OPENER TO MY COMPUTER DESK SO I DONT HAVE TO LOOK FOR A BOTTLE OPENER IN THE MIDDLE OF A MATCH WHEN I GO FETCH A BEER!

Do you mean the monitor between the widescreen and the desktop? It's just a 17" Sony lcd monitor, looks small next to the 24" asus monitor.

Elder: i suggest to move one of those rads somewhere else, eg. to hang on the back of case or in bottom compartment. To use rads this way is rather inefficient, as you basically cool one rad with air preheated by other.

cstkl1, if you use the Koolance shroud then yes and in my case I cut out the mesh at the top of the 800D and did a push/pull. I have even seen some that don't even use the shroud, however it is not as attractive. Have a look at these pics.

Snelleedie, very nice rig. I like the copper tubing, been wanting to do that myself for some time, but wasn't sure if there would be any issues with leaking. Did you use 1/2" tubing with .035 wall? Also I followed your link to your worklog, really like what you have done, just curious though..when you flushed your rads you had the supply and return going into the same container without a filter inline. Won't this just put the junk from the rad right back into the rad? Planning a new rev of the two circuits and 2x SR1 560.
Obsidian is too small for that so I make a new case.

The plate it self is 1 mm aluminum for the measures i cant give u those.

Actually those are terminal blocks, you can find them at McMaster Carr. I used them just to reduce some of the clutter, pumps, cold cathodes, LEDs, basicly anything that uses a 12v positive and a ground. You will have to re-wire whatever you attach to them.

And the question was meant for you... I've been having very average temps with my swiftech rad, looking to upgrade to a better/bigger rad. I run low-med speed fans.

What is the rad on top of the 800D you just power a couple posts up?

The rads in the Skull Crusher are XSPC rads. You can use a dremel, but the cut wouldn't be as nice as if you used a jig saw especially around the corners. But I can tell you that cutting the mesh at the top will only help by a couple/few degrees. So if you having problems with your temps, it most likely not from the mesh at the top of the case.

I meant to say I will need to cut the mesh if I am going to put a big rad like a feser 360.

What's the fangrill you used on top of the Koolance shroud on that pic, LazyMan?

The 800d by default can hold a 360 radiator. You would only have to cut the top if you want to install a 140mm fan radiator, like a 420, or a quad 120mm fan radiator.

I'm assuming you would be exhausting air out of the case through the radiator. What if you have it setup so push fans and radiator are mounted in the case, and the pull fans are outside the case inside the shroud? No need for cutting then.

I think you should have no problem installing the Feser 360 with push /pull and the shroud..it may be a little tight, but I think it will fit. With the XSPC 360 there is about 3/4" room to spare between the fans and the mobo. The other fans(pull) will go on top of the case under the Koolance shroud.

The only advice I can give you when it comes to cable mgmt. is take your time and have some patience. I recommend using cable clamps found at wirecare, they are very inexpensive and really make it easier to hold down your cables. But the difficult thing about using them is you need to drill and tap a 6/32 hole so they can be mounted. You can find the drill and tap at Home Depot You can buy them in sets too, but if all you need is a 6/32 this is the cheapest way to go.
This can be very time consuming and labor intense as you will have to figure out where you will want to route the main cables..ie 24pin, 8pin, PCI-e cables....mark where you are going to mount a cable clamp with a silver Sharpe, then take all the components out of the case and then drill and tap for the cable clamps...then re-install all the components and route the cables that you have just drill for. Then you need to see where to route some of the other cables, trying to minimize crossover and entanglement. mark for holes, remove components, drill & tap and re-install components...this process may need to be repeated 3-4 times, (sometimes more) to get all the cables to look nice and to lay as flat as possible.

This is my first build. The Obsidian 800D with its huge Mobo compartment and rad space seemed like a good choice of case since I didn't want to apply modifications to it. I was inspired by many of the amazing works I've seen in this forum.
i opted for 2 loops but sharing the same reservoir. There's white and black tubing, but the different colors do not differienciate the loops. Both loops share the two types of tubes. I simply used the black tube in order to blend in the black background (Res outputs leading to rads and drain tube), while the white one contrasts in the foreground.

I'm reading this thread for half a year maybe, and my Obsidian was waiting all this time for watercooled parts and suitable hardware.
I can say its my 1.5 build, previous one was a real crap and maybe i will upload some photos of it into my worklog (as soon as i get one).

During building this one, i have faced some problems i wish to solve in future:
- The tubes are really soft and they became a little bit blue after adding antifreeze into the system.
- The connection between CPU and RAM waterblocks needed metal spiral to be added and that doesnt look nice.
- There is a real mess from the tubes in 3.5 bay and i should get rid of them. (fillport and reservoir connection)
- I dont like the pump sponge. Orange sucks.

Chaosmage, it doesn't look to bad, but yeah the orange sponge needs to go. as far as coolant...and I hope you didn't put anti-freeze in your loop...I would suggest distilled water with PT Nuke and silver coils. Also IMO the ram doesn't need to be water cooled...I would remove it and that would solve your problem with the tight bend. And for future reference use thicker wall tubing and you will not have this problem.

You could use a 90º fitting on the RAM-block and a 45º on the CPU, won't be as much of a bend, and less tubing.

Question about the HDD bays with the SATA panel affixed...

Will an ssd fit in there and lineup with the connectors?

With the panel on I can't really see where the wires run on most of your photos. Do they go out the back and then in behind that plastic cover and attach to the panel from there? Also only one sata power connector is needed for that to operate the drives in those bays?

It lines up, I've got mine attached in the bay area but since I didn't have any screws that fits it, it just lays on the tray connected to the connector.

Swiftech MCR220-QP is what i used, it was a tight fit but it works well, i just did a total rebuild yesterday on my system

@Gonzalo - Why did you take out the divider between the MOBO section and PSU chamber? Is it your MOBO too long or the rad didn't fit?

What kind of lcd is this?

Its a matrix orbital gx typhoon, although the mounting bracket is a custom one made out of a modded 800d face plate!

Ok, i see, the custom bracked confused me :P Great rig you have there!

Thanks m8, glad u like it. I wanted to keep the nice clean look of the front of the 800d, hence the new facia/bracket for the orbital.

Kudo's to a lot of the builds in this thread. Very thoughtful and clean setups here! I'd love an Obsidian 800D myself, but it's hard to justify the cost. Especially since I purchased a Temjin TJ-10 right before these hit the market. :(

Unless you're water cooling I would never ever buy one and looking at your sig I don't think you are...(but if you are, they are great)

Yep, you're right, just air cooling here. I like how roomy it is in there. The TJ-10 is similar in layout, but Silverstone didn't make it nearly as easy for cable-management. I've got my setup as clean as I can, with wrapping wires around behind the motherboard, but it's still not as clean as I'd like it. The 800D looks like a dream to work with in relation to wire management.

Mostly, the TJ-10 doesn't leave enough space behind the motherboard and the right case panel to get all wires wrapped around behind. The side panel bulges horribly if I do. Otherwise I do like my current case. Again, I can't justify purchasing another full tower, just for the ease of wire management. But if I do come across some extra cash, it may be on the list.

What's the build quality like on the 800D, though? I've found the TJ-10 rattles at times because of flimsy aluminum used in places.

If you're asking me I don't know but if it's anything like thier 650D, I am satisfied (and I am very picky about quality of cases) It's about on par with Antec's cases when it comes to build quality. I had a TJ-10 once too and I didn't like it all that much (sorry) maily due to flimsy aluminum just like you pointed out. Cooler Master cases are the worst of them all with quality control...
