And Dave, I doubt you need 400+CFM over the motherboard. Why not tone it down a bit? A few 40-60 CFM fans should cool just about as well and will be a hell of a lot quieter.
What heatsinks are you using? Stock? Perhaps those Noctua or Thermalright sinks so popular on Harpertown? I don't remember if regular LGA1366 sinks work on server boards.

Ehh the way i see it is there is no performance benefit from turning off the "eye candy" so i'll take the Aero UI, not to mention all the other features, if i had high-end hardware i wouldn't want to use a relic OS with it :up:...........please don't respond 7 haters. :D
There's always a performance benefit from turning off all the eye candy, it doesn't matter what OS/version you're running. It all takes cycles away from the important stuff.

I want to start this off by saying that life is all about people.
It is those people you meet and interact with that makes the journey what it is.
In my life I've met and seen the good and the bad in people.
When I came to Xs back in November 2005 I had no idea how it would effect my life.
I've had the good luck to meet some extraordinary people here.
Some of you have no idea the good that is done quietly behind the scenes by some of the guys here.
Money sent to help people out in bad situations with no questions asked.
Parts sent to fill out a build or to help when a part failed.
Just the guys I call the "Good Hearts" of XS.
One of those I met was a guy by the name of Jon Magoon better known to you folks as Loonym.
I think it was back in March of 2008 that he first made his presence known to us on the WCG team.
He'd posted that he was dealing with bladder cancer and that it didn't look good for him.
Then I got to know him a bit better and saw the special guy that was in him.
The absolute love of a daughter that had turned his life around from one of ending days in a drunken stupor( his words) to one of meaning.
I finally got to meet him and his daughter Annabelle last year in June.
Just good people and what a ball of energy she was.
You saw them together and if there ever was a textbook image of pure love this was it.
I also spent an afternoon with him last fall when I brought up a dual stage cascade that Gomeler had finished for him.
We spent the day at his house and on a tour thru Cascadia National Park.
Again I saw the pure love between these two people.
I knew that day that Jon was in a lot of pain but he was trying not to show it.
This was Jon. Didn't want to "ruin" my day with his problems.
I last spoke with him in late November and could tell the end was near for him.
I sent some money up to him in December for a Christmas gift for Annabelle.
I didn't hear back and knowing Jon this was strange as he was the type to immediately send a thanks for any gift.
Like the rest of us I was caught up with house guests at Christmas and didn't follow up on this.
I found out on Jan 3 that he'd passed away on December 28, 2009.
Now Jon loved his overclocking and the high tech parts associated with it and it is in that spirit that I'm naming this machine
"In Memory of Jon Magoon".
Knowing Jon he's looking down and having a good laugh from this.
This project first started out with an email from me to Peter Tan(Shamino) at EVGA corporation sending him a congratulations on a 6633MHz
run on a early release Gulftown cpu last October I believe.
He responded and the discussion got around to the potentials of a dual socket 1366 board and what I'd like to see in one.
Then I mentioned that 'I'd love to have some input to a company designing one"
His response was 'We are and you can"
That began a round of emails between us with me imputing what I'd like to see and trust me, my involvement was in a very small way.
This board is all Peter's and he's accomplished what I thought to be undo able as Intel specifically designed the dual 1366 5520 chip set
to be locked up solid.
Then I got to meet Peter at CES in January at Las Vegas.
What I saw was rare in this world.
An intelligent guy who was open and friendly and also very humble.
A smile that captures the room and just having a good time meeting all the people.
Then I watched him "working" later that evening and saw the intensity in his eyes.
I will tell you that if you ever get a chance to meet him do it.
You will be glad that you did.
I'd also like to say to EVGA that the smartest thing you've done as a company was bringing him into the fold.
I found out app 3 weeks ago that this board was coming and although Peter had mentioned months ago that he'd
send one I was still surprised when it arrived.
Here I'd like to say my thanks to Peter and EVGA for this board and the patience of listening to this old guy go on and on about "dualies".
In addition to being who he is he must also have the patience of a saint.
I found myself in a dilemma when the board arrived.
Since it wasn't something I'd planned on I hadn't even considered the money involved to do a complete build around it.
I started looking at what I'd need and immediately got sticker shock.
Top memory for this wasn't cheap and I needed 6x2 gig.
PSU for this was also very expensive as I'd been told I needed a 1200W PSU
Then what to put it in as the board is 13.6x15"
I figured I could mod my old Supermicro cube for a case but either had to drill the MB tray or get a new one properly sized.
I emailed Ben Rising at Mountain Mods and asked if he had a tray.
He didn't but would on March 19.
Told him that was too late for me but Thanks.
Then he asked me what case I was putting this in so I told him about the SM cube.
His response was "NO YOU ARE NOT!"
Then told me that for the first build seen of this to stick it in that old cube would be just not right.
The next thing he's telling me is to pick out a case on his site.
What do you say to people like this?
Thank you just doesn't carry what you want to say and feel but it's the only words you have.
Now those of you that know me know that I've always dreamed of getting a Lian Li 343B cube.
I'd seen pictures of the Mountain Mods cubes and liked them but that Lian Li had stolen my heart.
I was wrong and because I hadn't had the chance to see a Mountain Mods case in the flesh.
Everything is perfect. Took me over 2 hours to unwrap all the parts and had a ball doing so looking at the quality workmanship.
I mean no sharp edges, paint deep enough to fall into and the design is really well thought out.
You really have to see one in person to appreciate how well it's done and something I will treasure forever.
The one thing I can promise you is that if you buy one you won't be disappointed!

I made a call to Mike(Yellowbeard) from Corsair and asked for help.
The reply was way beyond what I could have expected.
Mike made a call and the next thing I know I have 6x2 gig of Corsair's top GTX1's.
Can you say beautiful and a perfect match for the board.
Capable of running 2400 at CAS9 and just writing that brings a shiver!
I'd like to thank both Mike and Robert Pearce at Corsair for their kindness in this.

Then we come to the PSU.
Again, for what I needed big money.
You guys that know me know I'm a big PC Power+Cooling fan as their PSU's just plain do what they advertise.
Built well and I trust them.
I PM'd Eric Ryder(RyderOCZ) and asked for help.
He made a call and last Friday a PCP+C 1200W PSU arrived at my door.

Now to some numbers:
First thing I did was try to get a feel for the system and remember, this is a work in progress and
my first time working with a prerelease board.
The bios is AMI and has every imaginable adjustment you could ask for and I mean everything.
Every single voltage parameter is adjustable.
Fan speed down to percentages and also for temps as to when to come on.
After setting for 22x200 I ran SP1m to get a feel for the computational power even though Super Pi is single threaded.

Next I ran my favorite Cinebench and the new version 11.5 supports 24 threads so I knew this would be good.
What I didn't know is just how good it would be. Yes, my jaw dropped when I saw the numbers.

I tried to run Vantage but kept getting an error message that it "couldn't scan the system"
I started WCG last night and based on the first finished work units the machine at 4200 is being granted, yes granted, app 108,000PPD
so we finally have a legit 100,000PPD machine.
That was my goal and thats accomplished.
Now I want you guys to understand that it was just this Saturday morning that the last parts arrived so this is a work in progress so don't biatch at me about wiring etc.
I also need to pick up some more 120mm grills for the top and back and 4- drive bay blanks that I forgot to order.
Some observations:
This works well on air but begs for water and that I will do in the next couple months.
Temps at 4200 are in the low 60's on air and at 32 ish on idle.
It's stable at that speed and within acceptable temps but with good water and a skilled person I think 4500 is doable.
The last thing I'd like to say is I never thought I'd be working with something like this and to all the people that made that possible
