Telefonica has changed the standard speed from 1Mb:384Kb to 3Mb:384Kb ... still f****** upload and still paying 47€ per month... (about 60$).

Some other companies like Tele2, Jazztel are offering ADSL2+, 20Mbits download 1Mbit upload for about 50$ but it's still geographic dependant and drops to 5-6Mbits if you are more than 1km away from the central station.

8MB ADSL Broadband on my wireless router but im using wired :p:

WoW jbell, up is really slow. were are you pinging too, as you know its a lot different pinging to their server than pinging a site on the net. My business dsl line is 1.4mb if you use there(verizon) test site,thats the speed from my pc to there server only,and thats where the bottle neck occurs,but when I ping a out side site using another speed test,like c-nets I get only 1.2,mb not bad for 30.00 and they provide a modem/router/w/wireless ,nice sine the NAT gives you a hard firewall. exact same router modem/wireless at home but limited to 768 kbs/actual 650kbs for 15.00 a month and the equipment is provided. plus mcafee anti virus and software firewall .

We recently got to upgrade!
Apparently our service was 6 Mbit, but our old modem was limiting us to 4. So, comcast guy swaps our modem, and we also upgrade to 8Mbit, with 6xxKbps upload. (as opposed to 384 like it was) Much nicer. DLing from good websites gets me >1 MB per sec. :D

only good thing about it is the ping :woot:

Decided to run some more tests this morning when less people are eating the bandwidth to get better results :p My closest speedtest server in Ashburn (approx. 10 miles away from my house) and used much less frequently than the Speedtest.net servers rendered me over 28mbps down :D

ISDN is a type of connection similar to DSL and its about double the speed of a modem, before 10 years or so DSL was so rare and maybe wasnt available 4 public use, so if u wanted fast internet you would get ISDN at that time.

Well USED to have decent ~4mbit down/300kbit up cable (comcast) but now am stuck with sprint EVDO rev A which keeps dropping out (when it works ~800kbit/down 100kbit/up). Unfortunately, no choice in the switch as Comcast canceled my service as "I was downloading too much" (about 200-300GB/month) they just summarily terminate accounts for at least 1 year to a particular address (and no, they won't even allow one to get a business cable line. :( ).

Unfortunately even here (subburb of chicago) I have only comcast and crappy sprint to choose from (well besides getting a DS1 installed but $400/month is killer for 1.5Mbit).

My work connection, cause I am here @ the time, I found this thread, will do home later.

FTR, I work @ Motorola, they have their own ISP/Network etc.............just wanted to see how "slow" it is.
