It's 4.8 I think, get one already and overtake thegoateater hehehe
it's listed as 6.4 everywhere else
i'm already spending too much for the moment, got to slow things down a bit
i just brought a dog like new condition, never overclocked :), going to pick it up tomorrow
but i need a better cpu this w3520 i have is no good under cold
I'll guess I will start with that one done.
You know where I can get some insulation for that pot? i just checked on Koolance website it comes naked.
A guide to first runners would be much appreciated thru PM thanks
What are the costs for running 3DMark benches per day with dice (just a blind ballpark)?
Just noticed we're almost at 7K :shocked::clap:
10LBs and almost 8 hours and i'm ready for a nap.......
i'll forward you the little notes i forwarded to mk_ultra........its for dice..not ln2
i'm not sure if the koolance pot is good for ln2 ..though..dice its quite good....
if you're totally set with the bios settings....10lbs is good for about 1-3hrs ...get a hammer to powderize the dice blocks...
for the insulation go here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...40#post4032140
i asked kingpin for some thicker rubber tube insulator...
i hope he's not that busy :)
@mk_ultra
hey dude..i saw you had some tube rubber insulator for your koolance pot
is this the dimensions? round tube foam insulators 3/4-1inch thick, id= 2-3/8s?
Desperate times calls for desperate measures......
Need a little more time to get used to all this plus I still have plenty of stuff to keep me busy with AMD however I will grab some points for us soon.

HC
my pot is not a koolance, it's made by bartx
LMAO chew
+1 - for me its because if it ain't worth any points I see no point - - but now I will be posting more often since I have stuff to show off ;) reviews/ performance analysis and the like are in the works for the 790GX-G65, P55-GD65, and Lightning 275 /// very impressed wit Platinum SLI I tested teh W3570 on - best budget board in my book ;)
Hopefully our team will hit 7k soon... :D
Finishing setting up the watercooling... still waiting on the i7 975, but have a i7 920 D0 to run for now anyway.... :)
Keep on working guys!
i think we'll hit the 7k mark..i got 2 cpu's coming :)
and i need to submit my vantage runs :) and some pcmark bench too lol..and a weird 3d05 run :)
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3...tember27th.jpg
Some great scores have been posted today!
Hondacity is running is GTX 295 through all the 3Dmarks he can get! ;)
Linuxfan has been running 05 and loonym was able to get to first place for Core 2 T6670 with his Dell laptop!
Then another member has contributed, Flasker is testing his Core i5 750, his 9800X2 ( still seems to be a powerfull card ) and his Mushkin memory! :)
Way to go team!
thanks Don_Dan
my 295..is hot...my ambient is hot lol...but anyways..i'll be gone for two weeks no corei7 whatsoever :|
your ddr3 modules are awesome btw ...ddr3-1600+ @ cl5 is goood :)
*******i had to overtake mk_ultra on 3d05 .....it feels good :D
It's more like DDR3-1750 CL6-6-5-20! ;) DDR3-1600 CL5 would be awesome indeed...
Up to today I was quite happy with my CPU, I can reach high NB clocks with high RAM frequency quite easily, but when I want to clock the cores, my second core freaks out. With 2800MHz NB and 800MHz RAM it's not even stable at 3GHz, while core 3 is stable at 3.6GHz, and the best cores, 1 and 4, are stable at 3.8GHz with 1.55V Vcore.
When I use a low NB ( 2000MHz ) I can bench WPrime 1024M and 06 at slightly more than 4GHz on all four cores easily, but of course I lose performance because of the low NB...
I'm a bit dissapointed to be honest, I've already tried many things, but I've seen X2 550s that are better than my 965. :(
@chew*: Maybe you can do some magic?!
I don't have a lot time left before I have to finish my testing as I start my academic studies, so I will concentrate on single threaded benchmarks for now and try what I can get with very high NB and RAM frequency and a single core clocked high, and the others clocked very low.
However, today's update:
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/505...tember28th.jpg
loonym and \/ENDE][A are on fire! Benching a T6670 and a HD 3470, a 9500 GT and two 8600 GTs respectively.
Two members bring out the big guns, Linuxfan hit 320k in AM3 with his single GTX 295 and justin.kerr was able to score more than 35k in 3DM Vantage with two GTX 295s clocked at 720/1190MHz on water.
Oh, and I've posted two WPrime runs at 4GHz with a low NB...
Woot i finally put up a couple points. lol this weekend I will try to get a few more.
:up:Yep this weekend will try am all single and double...lol
some really good points there with strictly water
Thanks, will try to get more, I should have had you give the chip a magic rub before you mailed it to me, then I could get another 200mhz out of it?
Yes pretty good, from what I have seen on the batch, , 4.55Ghz 12 hours prime needed 1.425v HT on, 3d Vantage 4.65Ghz is about all I have gotten yet, but I had about 1 hour last night, so I OCed the GPU's quick and dirty, same with the CPU.. so I will try to massage them a bit this weekend.
Chuck some ice on the radiator for your GTX 295s, they can do 800MHz on water, the EVGA Enthusiast guys proved that. Insane how well those GPUs scale with cooling.
looking at the weather forcast, lows for this weekend will be 33F. so should see 8-10C water flowing through the blocks.. will try to see how far they will scale with that.. I can set the PC up on the patio table with some box fans.
nice temps :)
be sure it runs after...we need the points winter time :D
:bounces: :toast: It's time to party, we hit 7000 points today! :toast: :bounces:
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/1...7011points.jpg
If we continue to rise like this again, catching United Team of Poland until the end of '09 might be possible ( now we are at 7030 points already )!
Here are the scores that made this possible!
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/1...tember29th.jpg
Boyne7 is already running a Crossfire setup of two 5870s, scoring more than 25k in 3Dm Vantage! Another member, MTP04 is also running a single 5870 and he is scoring 361k in AM3, 93k in 03 and 37k in 05 with his E8600 running at 6300MHz under liquid nitrogen. Linuxfan is now running two GTX 295s after single card action yesterday, pushing his card to 702/1148MHz on water he manages to hit 32,5k in Vantage, 133k in 03 and 35k in 05! The biggest contributer of today is Junior a.k.a PcCI2iminal, running is Core i7 975 at 5250MHz under dice and 3 4890s in CFX mode. He was able to achieve 45k in 05, 152k in 03 and 29k in 3Dm Vantage!
I saw Pedro Rocha was online at hwbot when I took the screenies, so I hope he will post some results too! :)
PcCI2iminal has passed Pedro Rocha and is first in the team now too! Congrats! :)
Edit: I've PM'd PcCI2iminal and Boyne7 to get them into this thread! :D
7k feels good for the team. im sad i can't bench...this itch is bad :D
Hey guys,
I got RAID 0 running with two Vertex 120GB SSDs, and installed windows Vista 64bit fresh on the drives. Installed PCMark 05, the raid drivers, intel matrix storage, and hdtune. I'm getting really bad scores compared to the one SSD I ran a few days ago... :(
I was booting off of a different drive and running pcmark off of the hard drive then, now I booting on the SSDs and running the test... Does that make a performance hit?
Did a few tweaks and enabled both of the advance write performance settings...
Before: 67mb/s xp startup and 55 mb/s in the general usage test.
Now: 51 mb./s xp startup, 19 mb/s general usage.
I also did some registry tweaks that I found on the OCZ forums.
What should I check to fix this problem? It should be running faster in RAID 0....
Thanks guys!
I should be able to grab a few more points soon. Just got two 3850 X2`s and a Blackops board, just need some good DDR3. Also in the middle of volt modding 4 8600GTs. Stepping up soon to X58Classified/i7 920 or i7 860/Maximus 3. Cant make up my mind which yet.
Vendetta I haven't forgot you man, just been very busy. I will get to it eventually.
Yes this makes all the difference, leave the raid_0 array with PCMark05 only and OS on any other drive. Always remember to HDDERASE the drives before creating new array. Before installing Windows Vista, use Win7 CD to Diskpart > Select Disk (ssd array) > clean > create partition primary align=128 (or whatever strip size you chose) > select partition you just created > active > formate fs=ntfs quick > then install OS on the other drive.
When we don't run the OS from the Raid_0 array I found those tweaks to be useless. You make sure you check the Enable Cache under Intel Matrix Storage 8.9.
FS section of this forum I think... those should be road-runner's cards if I recall correctly
No problem. Its hard to find the time some days. Hardly seem to get any time to bench just lately. Working off backups mostly.
@TheGoat Eater...This is what i was leaning towards after seeing what others have done with it.
@Jor3lBR... No that wasn`t me. I got these new from UK store, £64 each, which i didn`t think was to bad a deal.
I'll try that tomorrow then...
I'll use hdderase on the drives, then redo the raid 0 array.
I then boot into my old installation of Vista 64bit right?
Tried booting into Vista today on the other hard drive while the raid was enabled on the SSDs, and it would BSOD when trying to load Vista.
Do I need to load RAID drivers for my Vista install to boot with the RAID partition enabled and the SATA mode set in the BIOS to RAID?
I did skip the partition align step when installing Vista... did that kill the scores also?
I hope it works out well tomorrow, thanks for the tips!
I have done the best 1M on air for the Phenom II X4 965 category on hwbot with my crappy CPU...
16sec390ms at 4161MHz... PP looks good even without heavy tweaking. This is all done with hardware tweaking, no copy-waza ( not that I didn't try it... trying it made my system crash at high clocks and the gain didn't pay off for the lower frequency :D ).
I made some 32M runs too but performance is bad, the CPU gets very very warm and I think I'm experiencing thermal-throttling, just like when I tried 1M at >4.2GHz.
So now I'm at least a bit happier with the scores I was able to make with my 965. :)
Yep thats about right on par for giga effeciency.
So do I pass the chew* quality control? ;)
hmm, mailed a webshop in holland here, i can get a 3920B i7 950.
Doubting though, 'B' always been good for me, packdate 09/05 , so brand spanking new.
Although it's so expensive here in europe, wish i could pay in dollars, they're worth nothing :P
pcmark tips note taken guys...thanks
thijs...wooo ln2 and a badass cpu....i bet you'll get 5.7ghz validation :D and bench 5.5 ghz
:P , doubting if i should take it, new retail vs ebay in dollars is such a huge difference  anyway, got word the dewar will be send to me next week, and where my F1 is, no idea. guess USPS tracker lost it whilst in customs here in holland, hope it reapears soon :)
Still getting a slightly lower score when I set the two SSD drives in RAID 0 with the ICH10R chipset...
Oh well... One Vertex isn't bad... Pushed the CPU clock a little and got 20K in PCmark 05 at least... I'm happy... :D
A little overview for yesterday and the day before:
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/7103/...october1st.jpg
http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/7/t...october2nd.jpg
On October 1st, deachus posted a single card 3Dm Vantage run, almost hitting 16k. Datura on the other hand is on old-school hardware, pushing his Pentium 3 to 1575Mhz under single stage from the stock 1GHz. Jakethesnake011 is also running a HD 5870 already, achieving almost 19k single card in 3Dm Vantage.
On October 2nd Linuxfan posted his PCMark 05 run and he hits 20k!
Hondacity, congrats for being the best scoring member of Team.XS for September!
For now this will be the last of my little overview, I'm moving to Munich today to go to university, and I won't have an internet access in my new home until 19th October. :(
See you then, happy benching and "keep pushing it"! :)
Don Dan, have fun and see you when you get back. :D
have fun Don_dan thanks for the update
Thanks for the update again Don_Dan!
Got to bench an T6670 CPU... Gained some gold medals and a silver for it.... :D That helped me to gain 228 boints total, 6th on our team! Wohoo!:toast:
Now I have 52 medals total, hopefully my profile will be updated soon... ;)
Got some more stuff to bench for medals and hardware boints next week...
Keep pushing it!
linuxfan
extreme benching dude...you're keeping us above 7k :D
Got the new mobile CPU in, gotta do some stuff to the laptop first before I can bench it though, it'll be a few days... ;)
Have a 5870 AND a 5850 in my room right now.... Not going to bench either as the i7 platform has two watercooled GTX 295s taking up the classified's slots (and I don't want to go through the hassle of unplugging them from my loop!) and the P45 rig is in pieces... have to RMA a GTZ waterblock for it too....
So..... not benching right now, but as soon as I can I'll be back on it! :D
4days before i get to bomb :)
I have three unlocked Core i7, two HD5870s and two HD5850, but no time to bench them :(
On Friday we will be benching Core i5 for some 2D numbers (and a W3570, if there's enough LN2 left).
Me and Bill were benching the new 5870's this evening. Not really serious benching, more like fun @ the living room :D
We had to fight a few bugs as well, Vantage produced extremely crappy results with major fps drops and our PCMark score sucked beyond bad at 18900 despite 4x Intel X25-M
Oh well, we did beat 30k in 06 at least:
http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=907054
At stock card clocks. We tried to OC them through CCC, but performance actually decreased. We also tried that MSI afterburner utility, but it wouldn't work either. Oh well. The cards are real beasts though they need a 5Ghz+ CPU to go along with their power.
Cool, nice to have a session and have some fun! :D
I'm suprised you got 30k with the i7 at 4.2 and stock 2x5870s... amazing!
When you figure out what the problem is with the SSDs in RAID running pcmark 05 could you PM me? I had the same problem... Got 20k with one SSD and got 18k with two in RAID 0... I tested them in hdd tune and they got 500mb/s in RAID as they should...
No, Win7 64.
Yes those cards are powerful beasts :DQuote:

However, the 920 was at close to 4,4 - with 4,2 we got 29,1k :)
It's not a particularly good chip, plus his wife wouldn't let us open the windows
As for the PCMark Raid, yeah that is really weird.. I got better results with my single SSD as well
I'm gonna do a few single card runs today, but all I got is Gulftowns, so I can't really upload the results :ROTF:
Got an i7 975 in the rig instead of 920 D0.... we'll see if it can get some better scores!
Figured out my temp problems with this setup, I had too much paste on the CPU and waterblock, also had different kinds of paste mixed....
Fixed it up with some MX-3 and we are getting ~15C lower temps...
wooo thats a good temp performance..also you prolly had a good mount of the block too...i'm flying tomorrow..i can't wait to dice 2 i7's :D
phuck i'm having cpuz problems :D
i got it sorted out....i had ten coldbugs already :) time to rest
after 2 more coldbugs...this cpu is a bi-itch to oc..
and my classy won't go beyond 1.73v....wtf
maybe its time for e762....but its out of stock...
anybody seen an e762 available?
no man i havent even seen it anywhere where do you see it out of stock???
yeah josh i have pcmark vantage now and same crap my score blows
ill bring the 4 intel ssds over and you can have a go at working them cause im limited to this onboard options...and Kathleen will kill me if i take apart the htpc to test the perc
yeah, dont think it has ever been instock there, and the Aus store that lists them for over 700 usd
@ josh yeah i bet 2 will end up being better
reinstalled the os with the 4 ssds but same :banana::banana::banana: with the 128k
Wife will only kill josh she needs me too much
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5...ty25/kjkjj.jpg
someone is pushing our scores real good 7100+ pts :)
oh yeah i4memory lost 4 places in the standings...6600 pts from their team
youngpro lost his points? any news why?
He's currently withdrawing from Hwbot, due to some disputes around this F1OC competition and the bot team. But he will be back once everything settles...
that is sad to hear ... thanks leeghoofd
i was really excited to see his uber 4890 sapphire mod in action :)
Not really comforting either
We are gonna try and do some benching today guys. Unfortunately I sold my 975, and I can't really bench the Gulftowns
Oh well, I do have the 3848A w3520... we can do single card 4870X2 and 5870 runs, as well as some PCMark with the Intel SSDs.
the out side temps tonight will be -1c :) :) :)
Hehe..Bill & I just finished another session together, my place this time (no wife :ROTF: )
Despite certain.. hindrances (this :banana::banana::banana:ING POS ASSUS mobo seriously can't do more than 212 BCLK.. SERIOUSLY!) we managed to get a decent single card 06 score with the 5870 on air, and a pretty nice PCMark 05 run :toast:
We will have to repeat these runs though, as we were running ridiculously low CPU mhz on SS (1,3V LOL) due to the stupid mobo not being capable. :S I am confident we can beat 25-26k PCMark06 ;)
The CPU is good for at least 4,8 3D on SS, if not more.
I had the 5850 so I decided to bench it... wasn't optimized at all and my AM3 and 3dm01 scores were obtained in Windows 7.... :(
XP was messed up that night and 3dmark 06 as well... at least some hardware boints for now anyway! ;)
Have to get the laptop back up and running soon (hopefully this week) with the new CPU in it and there'll be some more boints with it!
Also need to run my Q9650 up again.... I'm losing ground... :D
Have a P4 524 that I can bench on H2O after I get done with the Q9650...
Keep it coming!
 , going to NYC for a week starting next monday morning taking off from amsterdam!
After this im finally going to get a cpu and dewar and start benching again, way to long ago i fired up the classie!
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5...ty25/oct14.jpg
teamwork at its best :D
yesterday was linuxfan and _Datura_ with cups...hey linuxfan..good going with the cups, is that an asus board? asus has some nice oc utility.
now its loonym jcool and mellowyellow :) jcool really pushing hard
team total : 7140pts woooo
@thijs -----------may the itch of benching be with you --LOL
@all i've been talking with v2-v3, guy just got 180L of ln2...and i was less than 10mi from his place...but i had to go back to my place which is 3hrs away...i will be working with him in the near future, ln2 benching will be exciting :)... its gonna be hard getting time though..work has been delaying fun times.
i'm using my netbook..so dont mind the crappy screenshot lol
DAM
GJ jcool
Now i just wait for more hardware
msi is really doing good with that afterburn i hope it works well with a 4870x2 <--anybody tried the afterburner on these?
Yeah, I have, on my reference design Club3D card it works just fine (but doesn't change the fact that raising VGPU doesn't help with the clocks on mine.. AT ALL - no matter which util I use)
Hi guys, excellent results for the team!
I'm busy till the end of the month so I'll be back benching latter on.
Are you guys aware of the optimizations hidden on the 3DMark exe files (renaming them)?
We should put a list down here or in PM so we know when to run and what to rename the modified *.exe files and how to obtain the best results.
Oh yeah seams to be a BIG secret nobody likes to talk about them.
They make huge difference in x2 cards when running 3DMark01, Vantage, PCMark etc just by renaming the *.exe on those tests to another secret name.
I just know 1 for 3DMark01 if you're running dual core gpu's.
But I heard EVERY 3DMark test have these secret enhancements...
I wasn't aware of that either, interesting.
BTW guys, anybody got any clue about an issue with 3D05 I am seeing?
I cannot for the life of me get that :banana::banana::banana:ing bench to finish when overclocked. The PC just reboots during the 2nd CPU test (Proxycon) - WTF?! Setting is primestable, and runs all the other benches just fine :(
I increased Vcore but that doesn't help. If I lower the CPU mult to like 17x it works - what the hell?!
I have seen the same issue on another board with another CPU as well. I could never get that crappy bench to complete properly.
Once the CPU test comes up press escape. It will end the CPU tests and you should still get the score.
Dude... THANK YOU! Kinda embarrased I didn't think of that myself, it's so obvious :shakes:
Anyway, submitted a score. No idea if it's any good or not, but it's my first 05 score ever so it's gotta be worth something right
Also, in case there are any other n00b benchers like me around: 3D05 is faster with HT off :yepp:
While we're at it: How on earth do I get 3D03 to produce a valid result? I can't make any of my 03 results public in the ORB. I am guessing this is because it doesn't recognize the CPU (shows unknown and 0Mhz). Ideas anyone?
I installed that hotfix.. still no dice. :(
