so, when is the pictures of the vantage rig coming? :D
Pictures can't even begin to do justice to the vantage rig :D ...nor to the two benching it :p:
Nice first Results Guy's :)
Here you go :D
http://www.evga.com/articles/00485/i...topsecret2.jpg
i see three cards.... hehehe
it has to be four.. :D
come on Jakop.. show us!!!! :D
3x 285 GTX :D
PCI-E 12V cables would suggest 4 cards :)
maybe but why use extre 4 molex then? :D
it has to be four cards, OFCOURSE it isnt three (4 gpus)..
4 x 285GTX?
KP has already posted a big hint as to what the cards are a couple of pages back.
Look at the bus width in the second image ;)
2 X EVGA GTX 295 CO-OP Edition! ;)
so it's single PCB :D
It's a Quad SLI, 4x GPU's, Dual CPU Classified Im Gonna Kill You Edition Motherboard.
dpa's guess is the best so far ;)
EVGA's answer to Asus Mars :D
My guess: 2 dual-PCB GTX295's EVGA OMG edition with 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 and the core of the standard GTX285 (P/N: 01G-P3-1281-AR):p:
What's the prize for this "contest", btw? Kingpin F1/Tek 9?:D
think outside the square
very very nice
looks like there is no point pushing the CPU any more cause the GFX score is trailing CPU score :)
is that it? here i thought i was missing something ;)
this blows being here watching...if i would have biked back down i could have been there by now easily
Gomeler won a Tek9 5.0 and i was lucky enough to get a W3540 from Andre's stash i believe. i just put it under the single stage (-33C evap during run)
for a quick test and first couple boots show it is a nice one :D

You guys are such a class act. I'm so glad I got to go. I went expecting to meet some phenomenal benchers, but I got so much more. I actually met some phenomenal people. I think I'll be taking the leap into LN2 this fall after the house remodel is done.
Watching Andre's BIOS fingers was crazy. (Is he making this up on the fly, or does he really know what he's doing?) Watching k|ngp|n and shamino destroy Vantage records is something I'll not soon forget. Should it really take 5 hours to prep a board, or is that just what you put up with when you're running super secret record destroying gpu's?:D
Quote of the weekend:
"I felt dirty just watching that."
-3oh6 after gomeler's iPhone hit the floor, after which gomeler said, "I guess it's time to upgrade to 3GS." I hope someone cuts you a deal on the upgrade!
@Vince, I'll definitely take you up on the offer to come down again, but next time I'm bringing $275. :D
k|ngp|n, shamino, philly boy, 3oh6, andre, gautam, gomeler, vapor, thegoat; you guys are awesome. I can't thank you guys enough for letting me go.
yup, it came out after we were playing around with it last night. no sign of moisture anywhere, like last time. this kneaded eraser works like a champ the way i have it. two really long runs without taking the chip out seeing sub-zero temps everyday and not a spot of moisture anywhere near the socket
i bet ya you'll do 5.2Ghz on SS with it
push it some more :D
Damn, that could be a very nice chip Jody, now I'm kicking myself for not trying harder  The AM3 contest was a lot of fun, I blame me benching two rigs at once as my downfall :D
It's been a hell of a lot of fun here the last 3 days, I've got another 16 hours till I fly out but I doubt I'll be benching again, I'm beat. Probably time to take count of where all my stuff is, it is scattered all over the place
Watching Vince and Shamino was some great stuff. I filled in as LN2 boy, amazed at how much LN2 those GT200 cores burn through at those speeds. Now that I've got a Tek 9 5.0 I'm going to search for a dual-pcb GTX295 and try to have my own little GT200 fun :D
Huge props to Vapor and Gautam, they've diligently been tweaking Vista and I've learned a lot from them just watching. Huge stuff there guys
Time to go grab some food, we keep forgetting to eat.
wow awesome w3540 cpu there Jody :)
so all this talking of Andre's bios fingering action has me curious - is it really that fast or you guys just too slow ? :D
Gigabyte boards at an evga event lol who was that? I was stuck trying to pull something off with my shamino modded 7600gt :p
Sounds like you guys had one hell of a weekend!
I hear rumors of some super special board and also a Roman God I think making an appearance?????:p:
Wish I could have been there with you.
I would like a moment of silence for the EVGA classified that died along with the Xeon and the other nehalem that died (of hardware I remember dieing on Saturday). I wonder if Shamino found the spot that burnt on that board as that smell from the board didn't leave for hours.
Did you end up putting some ln2 on that 7600gt on Sunday? You were only getting around 860ish core although you had it much higher earlier but forgot what voltage it was at. The 7600gt wr had the core at 933 so you also would have needed something other than EVGA precision as it maxed out at 915.
Im pretty sure i know what this is, but really... its quite tricky.
This was a really fun weekend! I got the chance to break in the Vantage rig for a few hours on Sunday with Shamino coaching me on the ins and outs of the Classified. It was like taking a cool crash course in the Classified board! Thanks for the lesson, Peter!! And also mad props to Jody (3oh6) for showing me how easy it is to boot in at 245 bclk with his 920 D0 on his Classy. We were running 32M Pi at 252 bclk like it was no big deal!! I have lots to do now with my own rig once I get it set up this weekend.
Watching Andre bench AM3 on Saturday was a real treat. I got to be his LN2 boy while he rode that rig to a WR! He is such a character!!
And Guatam just would not stop "stirring the pot" with Andre to challenge him to push harder. We were cracking up with the comments.
We even got to watch the CNC mill in action as it made a few F1 back plates. A fascinating piece of machinery.
I haven't had this much fun in months!! Thanks to Vince and Peter for making it possible.
I'll post some pics tomorrow when I am back home.
Ff Cpu Dead!!!!
Very nice looking event! Scores are as crazy as they can be.. those EVGA cards are the real monsters and so is the CPU!
Jody does look like a paparazzi in that pic :D (Nice pictures)
Nice benching guys :toast:
oooooooohhh Sham got a beat down last night UT2k4 style and about to get another one before we bench some vantage again.
Fear my lightning rifle :D
I would think such hardcore guys would only play instagib, and only on laptop touchpads, not these fancy newfangled gaming mice :D
Vince you still using that keyboard that was getting stuck or you keep using it for "handicap" reasons? :D
c'mon stop ut :banana::banana::banana::banana:'ing and get benching :ROTF: still....gaming brought some of us to bench maybe we shouldn't forget about that fact ;) oc is work, gaming is fun or sth. like that ;)
With a ping like that, Sham didn't stand a chance. :D
its because sham cant play with all that lag :D
PC's are lan'd with x-over cable guys those pings are not correct, though I bet sham wishes they were ;)
LOL! he can use it in his defence tho :D. or that he was modding with the other hand ;P
ill challenge you in dota vince ?:D
lol showoff :p::D
UT2k3...man I used to own on that map with the lightning gun.
Anyone up for some team deathmatch against us? :D
Ouch nice beat down on Lardy 22-1 :p:
UT99 Vince...you don't wanna meet me in game
99 or 03 going on tonight? If its 99 I'm there, but it didn't seem to be working for me in 99, so it looks like I might not be able to join in.
Looks like Gomeler spectacularly destroyed an 790FXT-UD5P during the meetup :D
ouch looks like a clean headshot :D :D :D
 That would be a KILLER avatar:ROTF:
(this picture: http://www.legitreviews.com/images/r...FXT-UD5P-2.jpg )
It was too cool learning ln2 from some of the best- made it home @ 5:45 pm after leavign at 12:30 am lol
You may want to source a board as well? :rofl:Quote:

Just for you :)
I have to give Vapor some credit, he was the one holding the motherboard still :D
lol good call
Just one in a few dozen, this one was just spectacular
Welcome to use it, I am rather attached to my Diablo sprite
I bet it was Gautam :shakes: In all seriousness, this most likely happened due to the eraser being pressed and frozen around the socket and then a ring of ice holding the insulation to the eraser and then me pulling up in a not too gentle manner all while at -192C.
Have plenty of those, just need more LN2
[QUOTE='[XC] gomeler;3879064']http://gomeler.com/pic/HWBOT/kingpin...P/IMG_2536.jpg
Am I the only 1 that finds it ironic that the board says "ULTRA DURABLE" right underneath the destroyed socket?:p:
This will be fixed in Ultra Durable 4
except minus 192° in small letters beneath it :p
I had this almost happen to me once the condensation form and of course the eraser did its job right up until it froze the pot to the socket I was patient though waited and eventually took a hair dryer to it.
Nice Gomeler! LOL
I don't like waiting for the socket area unfreeze so I just fill the container with warm/hot water until the container separates by it self. No added force needed and its pretty quick.
I once put off an ihs off a 4000+ in this method

so, AMD is going backwards in this way :D
lesson - don't mess glue with thermal paste
Ahhh nice meetup guys!
Vince... am sure you had all da fun with gun. Sham... that UT score, well dats not good man!! :D
Famous last words "I've done this tons of times, just hold it."
:D
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
where is miah now
oh i know what's wrong, we're just a couple of dumbasses :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
we warmed up our pot back in January with PH2 and the chip still managed to be pulled out of socket due to sticky mount (this was due to thermal paste creating a perfect bond) >> i was too scared to twist as i tried so decided to just yank it out lol
That's why I pull the pot off still cold, typically the Ceramique cleanly separates. Then again this is also typically around -50C or so after I warm it up a bit :D I hate Phenom II's lack of a socket retention mechanism, yanking chips and bending pins is so frustrating :shakes:
they REALLY REALLY need to go to LGA design
so much better its not funny
The "event" was spectacular; it was a pleasure meeting each and every one that showed up. I'm also especially glad that I finally got to see the dream team bench in person. Their prowess is simply on a completely different level, even from those of us that have been doing this for years. Can't wait till next time! :D
ROFL Gautam if you come to Sydney mate dont come to my place
last thing i need is an accident prone n00b in my tight space here  j/k
LOL - vapor and gautam were knocking over the same pop cans like it was their job - and the mobo being knocked on the floor and gautam quickly picking it up and acting like nothing happened  and then having a knocked pop goon it :P:
it really was a blast meeting all of you and I can't think of a better way to spend the weekend than learning from the best :D - and learning the classified from Shamino was a real treat :D
Jody- Vince really got a kick out of your "no look pour" pic that you had me do :P:
