For a week ago, I could run 220*10 @ 1.675V, but now i can't.
Sandra wont give correct results if multiplier is adjusted from Windows. Thats the reason for the low score.Quote:

A good amd 64 OC mobo?????
Asus K8V DELUXE
Hi, i am new on this forum, i have however been reading i thouroghly.
I have a question!
How the H***!, can you get that high vcore on your A64??.
My machine wont even boot with more than 1,56vcore :(, i dont get it, it is even with stockspeed i got the problem, and i dont have any probs with heat, since my cpu is watercooled... it is max 27 degrees celsius under load!.
Do you have any suggestions to my problem?.
Well, i have that mobo and it is running well.Quote:
The mobo is ok, but it lacks a very usefull feature (2 actually).
-To run your CPU @ 5:4 of the DDR clocks
-a pci / agp lock
Without the lock, it is hard to hit over 250mhz FSB. The PCI and AGP cards and HD's aren't keeping up.
I recommend u to buy an other mobo ;)
or buy mine :P

that board you have has a very limiting bios. you will need to vmod the board so that you can manually decide how much voltage your cpu can handle.
here are the necessary pics: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...5&pagenumber=2
does the bios limit so that i can't use the vcore setting above 1,55?. I can set the vcore to 1,7 in the bios.Quote:

hmmm. i thought 1.55 was the max. maybe not on your board. must be your psu then. what type is it?
it is a brand new Antec truepower 480w, but it should be suffecient, because i dont have so many powerhungry components in it.Quote:

that antec should be fine. maybe you should try a new bios for your board. last time i flashed a gigabyte board it never posted again so be careful.
ok, i will try to find another Bios, i use the newest available from thir HP. But i will keep you posted, when i have tried it out.

My resovoir is clear acryllic, it's nice!.
My temp on the cpu is 27 degrees at 2200mhz, and both 120mm fans turned on at lowest possible speed.
I got a new bios now, and i can move the vcore to 1,7. So now the cpu my maximum overclock is 10*237 = 2370mhz@28 degrees, both fans on full speed.
Dunno what's holding me back..
Is it safe to add more voltage on vddq, and vd-ht something?.
turn down ldt in the bios from 2.5x to 2x or even 1x
Tiger --> We both have problems :/
I cant even run 215*10 @ 1.7V with max VDimm :/ And adding more power to the chipset doesn't help.
Hmm my cpu is 35C idle @ 2100Mhz with an EVO360 with 3x120mm Papst @ 7V ... How the h*** can yours be 28C @ 2200Mhz with a dualradiator ??
Happy,
your radiator have 8mm fittings, and is a singlepass radiator. Mine is a multipass, and i use a Hydor L30 which is equal to a Eheim 1250 pump, and you also cool your vidcard, where i only cool my cpu ;).
After a sisoft burnin test it is about 31-32 degrees, but not higher.. and that is at 2350mhz.
Flytek->
At 2350mhz i run it at LDT 2, i haven't tried LDT 1 yet.
Tiger,
Give link to your radiator then :D
Why can't i run 215*10 @ 1.7V ??!! :(
http://www.dangerden.com/mall/Radiators/heatercore.asp
it is then one at the bottom of the page :)
Then the other question: Why can't i run 215*10 @ 1.7V Vcore and with max VDimm ?? (LDT 2.5)
too much vdimm can be as bad as too little
Ok, but it's the same thing @ 2.7V and 2.8V - it won't start up :confused:Quote:

AMD Athlon 64 CG will give better memory performance
Plus more compatibility
ANOTHER Taiwanese mainboard manufacturer, this time Shuttle, has given insight into the next major silicon revision of a forthcoming microprocessor.
A PDF, available for public download at Shuttle's site here, refers to BIOS version FN85S015, for the mainboard within its AMD Athlon 64 based Shuttle SN85G4 Small Form Factor PC.
Right at the top of the supported CPU list for this BIOS is an interesting entry: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ CG…
French, well Canadian, system integrator friends of The INQ tell us that the "CG" revision of Athlon 64 brings greater performance via "2T memory timing enhancements that will enable support of higher density and/or higher frequency memory modules".
Additionally, forthcoming "CG" revisions of the AMD Athlon 64 will not require identically paired DDR DIMM modules for the second and third slots in mainboards with three DIMM slots.
Expect "CG" revisions of Athlon 64 to start rolling from the AMD’s fabrication facilities before the start of Q2 this year.
"CG" variants of the Athlon 64 can be identified under the new CPU ID of 0000F4AH and current Socket 754 mainboards should only require a BIOS microcode update to correctly identify the processor.
We might also mention one detail in our earlier story, "AMD turns heat on Intel with Athlon 64 FX", might be subject to change and that is that AMD Athlon 64 FX for Socket 939 will, as we revealed, not require Registered DDR, but it's possible that Socket 940 parts will. Sorry guys – we do our best!

Anyone with an CG revision ? :D :D :D
Nice to see some fellow danes in here!

I've spend like an hour or so just reading throug this A64 sticky thread and some others.. and my founds are that if you wanna get the A64 you should be aware that:
1) Too high Vdimm will probably kill your chip, same thing for high chipset voltage right?
2) The Shuttle or Gigabyte motherboard is the way to go?
3) Avoid XP3000 due to the lack of cache? Grab a Xp3200 instead.
4) What about multi's wich are unloecked
thans for help :)
1 maybe - maybe not
2 for xtreme overclocking at this time - yes
3 not if price/performance is your goal
4 lower multies can usually be accessed using software. some bios' too

if you not going to overclock than i highly suggest a VIA chipset board such as Asus K8V or the Abit K8v-max3

lol der er mange dansker herinde lige for tiden!
What kind of problems do you have with the chaintech happy? ´cause i just ordered one myself!
My Mushkin dosn't work 100% with that mobo. And the 3rd IDE port is damn weird! When something is connected on that port, it just won't startup ... And the same thing happens with my dads Chaintech.Quote:

But the mobo sucks anyway :p:
between me and a buddy of mine, we went thru 7 total chaintech mobo then gave up on them. I now run a KV8, and I am not sure what my bud ended up with. But on my 1st chaintech it ran for 6 hours then a trace blew on the back side of the mobe. my 2nd one never posted, my third one ran for week then the bios would corrupt, over and over again. my 4th had 2 dead mem ports. my buddy had various problems with his, no 2 had the same problem. I really wanted the chaintech board, but I had to give up on it. Can't say that I didn't give it a chance.
Now with the KV8, i am up and running smooth with a small OC (2.4 on H2O)
20 of the brand new athlon64 3000+ 0352 xpmw have arrived in my country. luckily two days ago i sold my 3200+ 0330 upmw and soltek mobo. it was always my chip holding me back needing 1,7vcore to do 2.2ghz on air through prime95. so lucky me it's time for my second personal athlon64 rig. :)
this is the best i cracked on air. only vgpu mod. 2 sticks of hyperx at 2.8vdimm. can't wait to give these babies some more juice
I posted earlier and i just poped off my water block. And guess what?! I got a brownie. Bot sure if was this thread that noticed the brown chips where running better but mine will do 240+ on stock vcore. heres a pic of the chip. What do you think of the steping? http://66.74.199.16/images/chip.jpg

Although of accademical interest these max hypertranport speeds do little for me when the cpu speed is so low. I can understand wanting to to have 400x5 rather than 200x10 if you are going to run at 2000, but when the total of the multiplier and clock speed goes down then you have struggled and struggled just to make your machine slower.
Hoping I don't get burnt as a heretic :)

Andy
Andy,
I have to agree....fun to do (once) but seems an awful lot is being made of it and I don't see why? Unless maybe to test your ram?
Because FSB = life ;)
The rather amusing thing is that this thread is called athlon64 overclock record and that chap on his crystalcpuid has managed a fantastic overclock of -32.7% :D
I can imagine the champers being cracked open when he reaches 500Mhz ... that will be a mighty 2Ghz total
To save you working it out, that's an AMD rating of 3200+

That kind of RAM speeds are possible with 4x multi and low CPU MHz only. 381 1:1 is totally insane thou :toast:
so what makes the 4x mutli enable really high ram speeds, other than that the CPU clock stays low
i reckon the cpu only calls to the ram a lot less often with a low multi. for instance ram bandwith definately changed on 32bit amd rigs when going from a 10 multi to a 12 multi. so higher multies push ram harder.

It seems fairly good, but no golden sample. Even tho you have the same stepping they might, and problably will oc very different. I dare not guess what it might do as this will only be wild guessing.Quote:
