I know, I've read that a few days ago ;), maybe she must try it out? :)

Thanks again for the positive feedback (note - it's okay to criticize too). I'll try to answer some of the recent questions:
Blue LED fans are medium speed Yate Loons ... typically run them on low speed. They are not too noisy, but I like the sound of the Scythe S-Flex E better (and they seem to push more air at similar speeds, but that's using the highly scientific "airflow on hand" test method).
The Iandh Thermochill grill has been removed. I'll go pack to my little plastic filter covers for now ... not perfect but do a good job with dust.
A variety of cameras and lenses have been used here. My most common is the Canon 40D with the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 lens. The recent set of pics were taken with my husband's camera - Canon 1Ds Mark III with the EF 50mm f/1.4 lens, and the EF 100m f/2.8 Macro for the last couple of macro shots.
Now, back to work for me. Just replaced the fan grills, installing the Aquaero and a few other minor changes in progress.
I love the macro shots and now I will probably buy a macro lens too! You are costing me a lot of money Shazza. Enjoy the Aquaero.
Shazza, the pics look great. One reason I've never liked the MM cubes is because the front panels usually end up looking so convoluted and asymmetrical. But I think yours is the first one that I really like! Great job!
About the aquareo shutoff cable: you don't have to buy one, you can just use a standard PSU 24pin extension. Tap into the purple line to power the aquareo when the rig is off and then lengthen the green line and run it through the shutoff port on the back of the aquaero (though finding the little connector to connect to that port is a pain!).
Gracias, seeker and headala.
Shazza does feser one fluid gunk at all? i have seen you have been using it
Only been using Feser One for a week or so, Cosmos - but so far I don't see any gunking.
Welllllll, my day of clean up and final assembly has come to an end with nothing much accomplished. The death of my Aquaero Display has taken up my day - I was so hoping it was user error and something fixable. Doesn't seem to be, but ... who knows????
Maybe I will have a chance to finish things up this week ... next weekend is out, as we are going to Sedona, and I doubt I'd be popular if I said "Let's cancel - I want to stay home to work on my PC" ;)
I have the EVGA motherboard myself, just got a system up and running with it Friday. It's my first ever build, though it's still incomplete - I was running off a USB flash drive, then I was like "screw this" and partitioned my external backup drive, then I got curious, and long story short my external is now an internal. My VelociRaptor 300GB will show up tomorrow. :) Anyway, the EVGA seems like a great board so far - will you be stepping up to the Classified when it's out?
I'll be going GTX 285 as well once I get the money for it. I'm on a 8600 GTS I picked up from Newegg along with my RAM (Corsair Dominator 6gb) as a placeholder, and maybe dedicated PhysX card once my 285 is here.
Hi, Alex. I hope you are as happy with the EVGA X58 as I am - it's been great so far, and holding up to all the changes I'm puttiing it through.
I don't expect to step up to the Classified ... the current board has more headroom than I need at the moment.
those pics look amazing, i love the see through water block for the gfx. :)
Wow...what a treat. Last time I visited this thread you had just had the meltdown and declared an end. Today I come back to find 10 more pages of goodness :)
Looks really fantastic Shazza. Definitely one of my favorite builds. Really inspiring.
Love the house too (the tree huggers up here in Jacksonville make us call it wetlands...glad someone besides me still calls it the swamp, heh)
Thank you Aielman ... very nice of you. And - I agree, a swamp is just a swamp, no matter what the real estate agents want to call it.
A quick update ... received my replacement LCD for the Aquaero. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the same connector piece, which means I'll have to get a connector and do a bunch of delicate soldering to hook it up. Am investigating other alternatives til I get that worked out. Also found out my weekend away is NEXT week, so will have this weekend to try to finish this puppy.
:yepp: I think you are right, but I've got a temp fix (a little surprise for later).
I woulda just ordered another Aquaero already, but Sidewinders is out of them. I do, however, have a fix on thedealer who may be able to help me out
As for time to solder, I've also got a plan for that (he just doesn't know it yet ;) )
More than one way to skin the :cat:

:shock: :shock2: :cheer::peace::wiggle::confused2:bounce:
A 4 line display...only so many of those available. :wasntme:
She really has lost her mind, she probably spent more time finding those smilies than hooking that thing up!
And, I'm sure you know which one it is.
I wish! Notice the time delay between posts - did have dinner, but it took about an hour to redo my USB connectors, and then ... hooking the USB headers up while having to thread in between the video cards is a major PITA.
It's the Crystalfontz 4-line 634 USB display Drive-Bay kit. I'm basically using the Aquaero as an LT version (e.g. with no display), but can use the CF 634 for display. Still have the ability to control fans and monitor temps with the Aquaero. Not necessarily elegant, but works for now.
Okay, I thought it was a CrystalFontz...but it looked nothing like the display I have. I was on the right track I guess. :p:
:):):)
shazza, is that Murdermod sleeving on your psu wires, etc? Can they make sleeving in white??
Yes, it's murderMod sleeving. I'm not sure if they make a white sleeving yet, but you can check out their website and email them.
Haven't figured out how to do it directly. What I am doing is passing info from Everest to the display. Running the Aquasuite software as well, I can control the fans using temperature readings. So, fans and temp sensors are connected to the Aquaero.
And, just procrastinating going to the office. Here's a shot of the display with some Everest monitoring info:

Jeez whats up with the low vcore??? lol, looking good Shazza, I'm looking forward to seeing the Aquaero when you finally get one up and running
Confratulations shazza. Its a masterpiece; a standard by which all others are measured.
hey shazza, would you happen to have any pictures of the back of that lcd? :D
I think this is it...
http://www.crystalfontz.com/product/CFA634TMCKS.html
That's it ... thanks, SiGfever. I was too impatient to take pics before seeing if I was going to crash and burn another LCD.
Ha, Jhors2 ... don't be laughing at my Vcore ... I can easily do up to 3.8 on the 920 without going over that :p: Have yet to try to really push it.
And, thank you, Ian. Hopefully it will be wrapped up this weekend (unless I break something else while persuing one of my half-baked ideas).
Shazza, It's those half-baked ideas that lead us to success! Mine typically arrive due to scotch......:D
Good to see that you got this issue squared away. You went from 2 line LCD to 4 line LCD. It's like turning lemons into lemonade.....
Hopefully no more issue with the LCD going forward....unless something does and then i think i'll see SLi LCD's in your future to top this fix hehehe.
... I'd laugh, but ... not yet!Quote:
...then i think i'll see SLi LCD's in your future...
I want to repeat what my new Crystalfontz LCD told me when I first turned it on "Shazza lost her mind." Up at 6 am ... thought I had just a few hours of cable fixin' and it's now almost 5pm. Redoing cables, redoing the chipset / mosfet loop, sleeving some more fans, and making sure everything stays hooked up. Fire it up ... get to windows loading screen then it hangs, and hangs, and hangs. ARRGGGHHH. After a couple hours, traced the problem to the new hard drive my husband gave me and got that sorted out. I was just thinking, "Oh No, do I have the fortitude to tear down and redo if I can't troubleshoot this?" Whew, I'm not sure what the answer to that question would have been, but I was looking for a large sledgehammer...
Still work to do. A few early teaser pics:
Just trying to get the green color to turn out right:

Will try to get some serious shots of the completed build sometime soon.
Breathtaking pics Shazza! I wish I could do that...............
I wish my loop was green now, the green is such an awesome colour!
Fantastic shots Shazza!
Shazza your humorous when you were talking about redoing your cables
I really like how that blue came out! (i fiqured how to make sure your feser one doesnt gunk! feser dye+ feser anti-corrosion+distilled)
thank fox for this info!
LOL ... thanks guys, but I'll leave the million dollar PCs to the pros. I'm kinda going for the Wal-Mart look here :)
Shaazza... any pics of the LCD and Aquaero hooked up?
I'd like to see how you decided to mount it .. whether you decided to combine them or seperately....
Also you inspired me to pick up a used one for a decent price ... hopefully i wont have any issues
If I bought the Aquaero LT, Where would get an LCD screen to work with it? Directly from crystalfontz or which lcd should i get?
Whoa, Shazza, looks beautiful! Your grandkids are going to love all the colors!!!
Thanks again for the kind words, all. And yes ... the Grandkids are visiting in a couple of weeks, so I think they'll like it. My other in-house critic is not a big fan of the red loop.
So - questions re the Aquaero: Disclaimer Here - I AM NOT the expert. I've wanted an LCD display for a couple of years, and couldn't even figure out which one to order. Finally bit the bullet on the Aquaero, and you know I had issues with the LCD (user-induced, I believe). That lead to more research and I picked up the Crystalfontz 634 4-line display. I now have it hooked up in the front bay, and the Aquaero is behind it. The Aquaero is controlling fans and monitoring temps. The CF is reading info from Everest, using the CF2 software. All this is not exactly straightforward, but is not rocket science as I figured it out in an evening. I have effectively turned my Aquaero into the LT version - monitoring and control but no direct display or ability to control from the buttons on the front. That's okay for what I want.
Do I have a pic of the Display in the case? Well, sort of. Apologies - just not possible to get front case detail and show the display without setting up extra lights - will try that tomorrow. For now, here's the best I can do:

(the little smudgies around the characters are an artifact from uploading/compression - not there in RL)

I vote for a sticky! ;)
These are really some of the best pictures I've seen on XS, and a great representation of what a build log should be like. Great work Shazza!
Can the Aquaero run 9 s-flex f fans? Also is there any place in the USA that has any of the regular non-lt versions in stock?
Excellent as always Shazza, a true beauty to behold.
Shazza your bp pron makes me jealous !
I'll try to the top that in the next few months!
Outstanding photos Shazza! I have got to get a macro lens.
Shaz where did you get that display from it's awesome!
I already have an idea to incorporate it into my build.
Sorry for jumping in Shazza. This is the company that makes them.

Thanks, fox3 and SiGfever, for answering the questions. I'm glad to have sparked some interest with the new toys - things like the Aquaero and LCD are old hat to the pros here, but for some of us it's still all about learning what might work. I'm currently running 10 fans on the Aquaero - 2 sets of 3, and 2 sets of 2. The regular Aquaero has 4 inputs for fans, but as fox3 said, no problem chaining some together if you don't go over 10W per channel.
Appreciate the nice comments on the photos - you can tell my preference is Macro work, as I am struggling mightily to get decent full case shots (which is what I should be working on right now).
And, Kirk, glad you like the work log, but I fear it has at times been more of a blathering blog :p:. I sure never intended for this project to get this complicated, but my hardware failures have lead to new learnings and a chance to try out other ideas, so it's a never ending journey.
those photos are just amazing:cool:
and now I know where you got the cool shades of green:D
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/h.../beerloopp.jpg
Good one, TedShred. I bet the Feser 1 tastes better than that beer!
OK, just sharing my frustrations. If anyone has any hints on how to get a decent pic of the front of this silly cube with the LEDs and LCD on, please do tell me.

aqrrrggghhhhh...
Wow, Sharon, so clean and pretty!!!
Thanks, headala.
I know I'm testing the patience of those of you waiting for the final shots. But, just wanted to share a couple other shots. There are some pics more suited to PS special effects than others:
This just made me laugh ... out loud. I've never seen this effect before:

And, this one had that Las Vegas look. I'll spare you the rest. And yes, I am getting back to real work now.

Nice new pics...... and the lcd looks great.
I was wondering what lighting your using for you case?
Right now, I've got 2 x 15" white CCFLs in the top. Not getting any light on the video cards, so have to sort that out. I hate CCFLs, but not sure the LED strips would do the job. Not a huge fan of UV, but may throw some in there just to see what it looks like.
hey shazza do those white cathodes give UV ?
I want to make sure i have some non UV cathodes so it doesnt change the color of the tubing/additive
is there such a thing?
hope you fix it:up:
Las Vegas? Looks more like Andy Warhol type to me.:D
FYI, once my builds done, im kidnapping you for your photo skills:eek:
so ill see you in a few months:rofl::(
Damn Shazza that build is soooo hot that the casing is melting. :ROTF:
awesome photos as usual shazza! great work!
Thx, guys, Now I just have to find a place in the USA that carries the aquaero full version, non-lt...I may have to use the sunbeam extreme until I can find one.....Shazza, awesome layout! Barely any wiring showing!!
Shazza this is TFC tubing +feser additive ?
I would like to know how much feser dye you used to get those dark shades of red and blue
the green looks awesome!
are your side panels those large windows?
@Shazza....Have you used PrimoFlex UV Colored Tubing as well as the Feser? If so what are your thoughts on both and which do you prefer?
Yes ... just make sure you get the "White" cathodes, not the UV ones.
LOL ... I think we may have a similar warped sense of humor. For some crazy reason, that one cracked me up.
I used straight Feser One coolant ... no added dyes. I still recommend distilled water, but needed the extra color for what has turned into the not-so-modest-over-the-top-ridiculous build.
Yep ... I've used both. Pretty comparable. Advantage is the Primochill Pro-LRT comes in 7/16" (although I'm now fine with 3/8" x 5/8").
And, thanks, ballz ... but I'm sure your photography skills are fine.
Thanks Shazza;) Always good to see you and Darth form the old NoteBook Forum days:toast:
OK ... still not an entirely successful photo shoot, but some progress made. I'm actually quite happy with how it's come out ... actually looks better in RL than in the pics. Even my husband likes it!!! Here's MOAR PICS, for those who are not going blind from all the bright colors:

I love Bright cheerful colors;) Do you fancy the UV Tubing over the clear with UV Fluid Shazza?
Like so many, I'm really enjoying your worklog Shazza. It's not just the incredible attention to detail in your work, or the stunning photos (even the arty farty ones) but also the way you represent yourself. Your enthusiasm and desire to do your absolute best is infectious. This is a process and what's always mattered most to me as a builder is knowing I did my best and never compromised. Sure things don't always go the way we'd like but its how we play the cards that's more significant than what cards we're dealt. You should really be proud of what you've accomplished Shazza. IMHO, your efforts here represent what's best about what we do and most importantly, inspire me.
Cheers. :)
Hey Shaz, how hard is it to program that little LCD screen? It is so awesome! I'd love to have one which also tells me my core temps and vcore etc. :) Handy as.
Shazza, I am going to put my white cathode or LED lighting behind the motherboard in between the tray. I changed the blue LED's to white on my Koolance blocks and my cards are nicely lit up and look awesome!! I may also put a white cathode behind my bottom Rad. I had to delay some parts of my project since I had to pay $730 to replace the clutch in my car.....:(
Beautiful Pics Shazza ....
Do you do any post processing work with those pics or those straight from your camera?
I didn't know I was going to use the colored coolant when I set up the tubing ... just added it because of the EK blocks and the reservoirs. I'd like to see it with plain tygon ... maybe next modification :)
Very kind of you to say such nice things, Charles, but does Nils know you were out of your cell ;) ? I am still just a beginner at all this, but really enjoying the process. And, about my arty photos - do you see me holding my handiwork over a balcony to potentially drop 20 stories ? ( but, I do have some of those blue gloves):rofl::rofl: Again, thanks for the kind words.
It's not too difficult, just took a couple of hours to figure out. I do have it reading my CPU temps and more. Very handy.
That sounds interesting - looking forward to seeing pics. Sorry about your clutch!
I process the pics in Lightroom 2 - primarily to adjust white balance. Then also adjust "curves" to get the highlights/shadows right. For the tubing pics, I have to do a little adjustment to get the colors to show what they look like in real life. The Green is the most difficult - it's actually a little "greener" and less lime-like in real life, but it's a pretty good representation.
Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'm going to concentrate on using this computer for a while now - that will be a novelty!
Hi, Shazza, it looks amazing. I hope you are enjoying using it now and not reading what I'm writing!
...except it looks like you may have a slight kink in the green CPU tube; you may want to check on it. If it's kinked you can put zipties (quick and cheap) or buy a BP 45 or 2 (pretty). But who am I to advise you on fittings?!
Shazza,
this is amazing. Good work. :)
Nice job! Splendid, but what are your fans ?
shazza thx for the cathode and coolant help :)
but does feser 1 coolant have the anti corrosive stuff ?
and you just used feser 1 coolant thats it , no extra additive and such?(let the tubing take care of the rest basically)
Shazza!!!!!! you just dont stop to amaze me with the symmetry of your tubing config and everuthing else.... very well planned..... i tip my hat !!!!
congrats !!!
Have to check in here upon return from the office - gotta see what everyone is up to with their builds
Thanks ... I know it looks like it could be kinking in that one pic (assume you are talking about my green mosfet loopy). But, if you check the photos below, you can see it is okay. I'm watching it closely though - thanks. I have BP 45s, but I really wanted to have the green standup to give a little more visual interest to the loop. Let's see after a few weeks.
Thank you, I appreciate the comments.
Thanks ... fans are Yate Loon Mediums on the front - pushing (pulling?? I never know which is which) fresh air into the case. The chipset radiator (which is the XSPC RX240) has Yate Loon Lows - pulling hot air out of the case. 2 fans on top, and CPU fan are Scythe S-Flex F's for exhaust. I'll adjust fans if need be if I notice any balance issues.
Feser One is meant to be used as a stand alone coolant. No need for water or corrosion inhibitor or algaecide - so they say.
Much appreciated - your build is still one of my favorites, and I may copy you next time :yepp:
then how many bottles will i need to use with a ek 150 res ?
Looks great. Did you use the Feser dye or premix?
hey shazza, you know you want a heatkiller, or aqua computer cuplex now  but seriously, i may just have to report his build to mdpc, probably the cleanest mountain mods build i've seen. also shazza, grab that bobble head, looks like it gives +10 to whatever skill you want :O
It's not just the res that matters - also the rad. Assuming you're going with a 360 rad, it should take a bit more than half a bottle of the premixed.
Feser One Pre-mixed. (NOTE - I AM NOT recommending this ... it works fine, but there's really no need to pay the extra over distilled unless you need the color).
Thanks, noob. I've got a Koolance 350 sitting here, but not gonna tear the loop down at this point. I'm pickin' up my bobbleheads as I bobble through the Wasteland ;)
P.S. ... don't bother reporting this to MDPC. It's not worthy, as there are many imperfections, and the outer case photography leaves much to be desired :) We have to leave something to look forward to with the next build.
Damn nice looking stuff!! I love the Bobblehead, I am still playing Fallout 3 looking for EVERYTHING!!! I think I have over 120+ hours on that game....It's like crack! I ordered my remaining stuff, more sleeving, lighting, Ram cooler, and 9 S-flex F fans today, Shazza, except either Koolance 350 or Heatkiller 3.0 block. It's between these 2 blocks now. Waiting to see Hondacity's results first!!;) Hopefully the Seeker will be able to get that Aquaero ordered for me with his order from Aqua-computer......
every time i see someone use a Koolance 350 block it makes me wanna rip out my 340 and trade on up! Awesome pictures Shazza!
Hey Shaz, where did you get the LCD screen from? I'd love to get one :)
