Ah ok, so it's the shiny / glossy looking finish. I think I like the bead-blasted look better. Of course, I'll still need to see up close pics. of the clear anodized version to make sure. ;)

Come on, do it do it do it! :cheer: :bounce: :cheer: :bounce: :cheer:
:party3:
next thing you know the annodize will be changed to HA Nat and HA black for super, ultra, over the top, scratch resistant ramsinks lol. I can't wait to see some pictures of these in black though :)
Looks like my short time with these sinks will be over soon. I received a Danger Den Ione today, mostly because it will fit my planned modifications for my loop better than the Maze5 GPU block I am currently using.
But who knows what I will do with them in the future.
Iandh make an excellent product that filled my particular need at exactly the right time. Thanks again.
Wow, nice Job there. .
That's really exciting to hear as I have a VF900cu and some MX-2 sitting here on my desk waiting for the heatsinks to arrive (hopefully soon).
edit: I see your later post now about some temperature issues, but that sounds like it's with your mounting of the vf900 and seems relegated to that one program you're testing with. either way, I don't plan to run anything super-intensive so i think it'll be fine for the gaming i occasionally do but hopefully quieter than the stock heatsink/fan which is my goal. =)
ok thanks for the update; silver is fine with me. (just sent you back a PM saying that too). =)
Just thought I'd let you east coasters know, Sidewinder computers will also be carrying the sink sets now and should have them in stock approximately the same time as Petra's.
Like Petra's, Sidewinder does ship international.
I can't really recommend one shop over the other because they both seem to be run by GREAT peoples.
Awesome man!
Can we get some pics of the black sinks?
Once I see how the black ones turn out Ill decide for sure if I want to buy a set or not.
I have a newegg gift card with 50 some odd dollars on it, I'd trade for a set...
Finally installed my S1 Rev. 2 last night along with iandh's Unisinks v1:

Really nice job there man!
The only thing I don't like about those s1's is that it blocks the sli connector.
Looks quite secksy tho.
I believe some companies sell flexible SLI bridges. I've seen ppl. running SLI w/ an Accelero on both cards.
sorry if this may have been asnwered already, but will these fit this card?
http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...640-P2-N828-A3
That's the card that I have, but I can't find anywhere if it's G92 or not on evga's site. . .
(apologies in advance if I'm a noob)
edit:thanks for the answer!
No, the 640GTS is a G80. Different layout than the 8800GT and 8800GTS 512.
Looking back I don't think it was a mounting issue. After the installation of the VF900 the temps did drop in various areas (idle, ATITOOL, games, etc.) and when I broke it down to re-seat the heatsink there was no real evidence of poor contact. I've come to the conclusion that the VF900 just doesn't handle heavy temp load (e.g., oZone3D fur test) extremely well.
At full blast the VF900 is actually quite louder then the stock 8800 GTS G92 which runs the fan at 36%. I would say at max speed the VF900's fan is about as loud as the stock fan at 55%. If you're not running anything crazy though, as you mention above, you can always dial down the VF900 fan. Shoot me a PM when you get it all up and running. I'm curious what sort of results you achieve.
Im just wondering how much would it cost to get them made in copper and shipped to the Uk ? If you would ever be willing to do something like that as they are excellent.
love my new sinks i put them to use wit my zalman vf1000 and temps went from 60c to 40c and also the noise went away damn those stock fans
The sinks fit very nicely Ian. Thanks!
I also found that I have the newer Samsung ram. This stuff clocks on my card at 1200mhz with no artifacts (yes, you read that right, 1200mhz or 2400 cause it's ddr)!!!! It starts artifacting at 1215.
The reason i want copper is not for the cooling capabilities as there wont be that much difference, its mainly for the copper look which will go nicely with the rest of the copper in my rig.
I will consider doing a small run of copper, but just to warn you guys they probably will be in the range of $80 a set. It takes about 4x as long to machine copper and the material is much more expensive as well.
BTW I stopped by the machine shop today and they are on schedule for completion by tomorrow, it is in the hands of the plating shop after that.
Ian's got some (aluminium ones) on the way to ChilledPC at the moment. If there is a special edition copper batch, maybe you could push Tom to order some.
That'd save Ian the hassel of shipping more (not sure if he's still doing indivdual orders still?) and on shipping for you.
If Tom could get some copper ones at ChilledPC i would definately be interested in pre ordering a set.
When was it available at Petra's shop? I always saw it was out of stock.:(
The new batch should ship to Petra's by the end of this week depending on how fast the anodizing is completed.
my piece is in its way to Egypt from Petra :D:D:D
along with a VF900 :)
Man, I can't wait for the next shipment, and I'm curious to see the black anodized version. Is the thermal conductivity altered at all by the anodized vs bare blasted aluminum?
Well the surface of the bead-blasted version is supposed to create more air turbulence around the heatsink which supposedly would make it cooler, but I doubt anyone would actually notice a difference.
Ya, I realized that much, I was just wondering if anodized aluminum conducted heat differently than just standard aluminum. Like if the anodizing changes the efficiency of heat transfer or anything. I'm guessing it's negligible, but just curious
I doubt it would make any measurable difference, not like your running water over the top of them. On the downside the mounting surface is bead blasted on the first version as well, which would probably make more impact than the top. It's still pretty smooth though. Godd nuff.
Are you sure the mounting surface is bead blasted as well? That sounds odd. Well, I'm no stranger to lapping heatsinks so that wouldn't present any problem for me.
Very nice work! ( first post here, so ill say Hello XS!)
Just realize the Base isn't flat, the base it cut so that it mounts perfectly to the different height chips. I doubt the bead blasted surface makes must difference as far as cooling ram and mosfets. I mean look how thick the thermal pads are that come with these cards!
I know. :shakes: That's one of the reasons I jumped at a set of iandh's sinks as soon as I had confirmation that my 8800GT was being shipped. I absolutely cannot believe those thick ram thermal pads actually do much in the way of heat transfer. Metal to metal with a thin spread of thermal paste between them is the ONLY way to go.
How are you guys getting a vf900 on these cards? I just looked at Zalmans website, and it lists all 8800's as incompatible with this cooler????
I used to have a vf700 on mine and it worked perfect (besides the stupid chipset location on my tforce 550se). I'm not sure what the deal is with Zalman's site because I've seen quite a few GT's with vf900's.
BTW the sinks should be done today or monday. They are currently in the anodizing process.
Any idea when petras is getting more of these, I really need one bad ;)
The sinks are in the final finishing process, we are at the mercy of the plating shop now. In my experience they try very hard to keep a 2-3 day turnaround, and they've already had them for two days. I am hoping to ship to Petra's on monday or tuesday, and they should have them a day or two after that. They also should be in stock at Sidewinder by Friday.
For those in the UK, I will be shipping to Tom at ChilledPC via Global Express mail (2-3 delivery) so he should also have them in hand for shipment by the end of next week.
Excellent news, Keep up the good work as these things are already hugely popular.
ian, are the individual sets you've been waiting for in that batch as well? :)
Justed wanted to throw out a heads up.
I had to rma my XFX 8800gt Alpha Dog Edition Card.
Just got it back today and the entire board layout has been revised.
Heres some pictures of the biggest changes.

http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/9...57largezo7.jpg
Backside of the card near the power connector. Seems to be where they relocated nearly all the voltage regulating components.
Just wanted to throw that out there and let you guys know that newer revisions of the 8800gt's will not be compatible with at least part of iandh's sink kit.
Heres a picture of my original card for reference
http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2...82largevx3.jpg
It might still fit... on the backside, dunno what kind of contact the heatsink would make, but it's possible it miiight still fit using the same mounting holes. I don't own the heatsink nor your revised model of the 8800GT to find out for myself.
What does the stock cooler on that revised alpha edition look like?
For the most part it's identical to the first one I had. Aside from the edges not being rounded over on the front and back nothing has changed. I found it amusing that they left the contact pads for the voltage regulators complete with thermal pads on this card when they aren't even touching anything.

That's odd, it still has the thermal pads where the old voltage regulators were, yet, they are on the other side of the pcb now or so it appears... hmmmmm weird stuff
Why would they trouble themselves by putting the pads on when the server no purpose? Oh well, why'd you RMA anyway if you don't mind my asking?
Was there any kind of heatsink on the back at all?
None whatsoever. Had it running under water for a couple hours so far, and they did get quite hot so I stuck a 120mm fan a couple of inches above the top.
Might I direct you to this thread as to why it was rma'd
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=175805
Just wanted to add that AFAIK this applies to newer revisions of XFX brand 8800GT's only. I haven't seen any of the other major manufacturers using non-reference boards besides the Galaxy cards IIRC. :)
Didn't want this to cause any confusion regarding currently released cards, but thank you very much for sharing the information nonetheless.
If I remember correctly Palit also uses a non reference design.
Yeah, there was a thread on the Palit 8800GT recently. it was obviously not a reference design. We should expect to see more now than we did at launch.
The rev. 2 sinks are complete, they will ship to Petra's, Sidewinder, and ChilledPC tomorrow. :D
Pictures tomorrow evening...
Sweeeet. The icing on the cake for me was I just found out Petra's is like 10 minutes away from my house, for some reason I thought it was somewhere else in the country. Silly me.
I thought Petras was in San Jose...
Yeah, they are: http://shoppts.com/contact.html
Seems XFX dosen't seem to think the V-regs need cooling anymore (Maybe they are using larger ones that do not heat up as much?). I'd say your lucky IMO, now you could just thermal epoxy sinks on the memory chips 50/50 and not bother to cool those... Maybe re-sell your Iandh sinks, or you could just use them on the memory since you already have them and sell the mosfet part (there is some demand for just the mosfet piece seperately it seems)
My 8800GTS from BFG has some slight covering issues with these sinks too, they still fit but the sink does not fully cover the lowest mosfet mosfet. Seems that EVGA used a smaller mosfet than BFG. However I still think these are the absolute best option for cooling my card overall, any other sinks are not easily removed, or fall off too easily. 1/2 contact with thermal paste might be better than full contact with crappy thermal pads anyways! And it's a larger mosfet to begin with so perhaps it will be more heat tolderant (impossibe for me to determin)...
I'm saving a bag of popcorn for those pictures... And its getting cold...
Just kidding :p:
Looking forward to seeing these bad boys in person.
I'm gunna hold my breath until I see more pix from ianh! Post! Or I'll die.
I'm buying a set regardless, I'm pretty sure. -- My valentine's day gift to my first love; myself. bwar har har
Stay tuned for sexxxxay pics
your already 12 hours late!
Not that im counting or anything...
Packing and shipping 117 sets of heatsinks is quite a task when mixed with a 8 to 5 job. ;)
Not to mention which I have to go to the dentist right now. :(

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/1...ge00002nq3.jpg
The silver anodized set actually looks nice. Will be checking Petra's again the next few days for these.
Best of luck at the dentist, I have to go tomorrow...
I should probably go to the dentist one of these days for a cleaning.
On that note, cleaning the Ceramique off of the old, bead-blasted sinks and the memory, mosfets, etc. on the card is gonna be a PITA.
Those are hot.
Almost makes me wish I needed a set.
They are reall hot indeed :)
I'm sure they still sell like hot cupcakes
iandh, do you have an ETA for my waterblock mount/8800GT ramsink order?
Got my kit today along with VF-900
temps dropped @ load from 65+ to 43C :D:D:D:D:D
very good performance and awesome looking heatsinks and ramsinks
gonna thik about anodizing the ram sinks silver or black later :)
thanks iandh and thanks Petra for making it possible to get a kit here in Egypt
^^^ Now that is just cool. :D
All remaining orders/replacements will ship monday, I tried my hardest to get to the Post office today but I am not going to make it in time. :(
Thanks again everyone!
The real question is, what time are these suckers getting in...
Aren't most/all parcel services on holiday today? Even Petra's might be?
That's what I was wondering too. Petra's told me to expect them early this week (most likely today) and discussion here says today as well. Seems everyone forgot about the holiday today.
Yeah, I was planning to pick up my heatsinks today... completely forgot about Presidents day.
Now I've got work everyday until next Monday... D'oh. Hopefully I'll make time to get them before week's end. Cant wait!
@ petra.... any news on the EK3870x2 blocks?
Ahh, Wish i read Alex's post sooner then 6pm... I'd be fitting them right now.
Tomorrow... :yepp:
I'll be getting a set as well, despite that my vr's are on the topside it does look as thought I should be able to simply mount the vr heatsink on the topside of the card without any issues.
Thank god its only 2 screws and not 4.
Cant wait to see em. Picks will be posted once they're in my hands.
Petra's has both versions listed as in stock on their site now:
http://www.petrastechshop.com/cu88cokitbyi.html
http://www.petrastechshop.com/cu88cokitbyi1.html
Thanks for the heads up! Just ordered a silver, anodized set + some MX2 to replace the Ceramique I was using.
What's the ETA on chilledpc getting their shipment and them being up online and ready to buy?
Hmm black ones... sexy :D
