Have any more "L801" chips been spotted out there? This one was purchased at OcUK yesterday.

Give them a proper run though and see what it will do. It's a new stepping that's starting to appear and there are not a lot of results with them yet. So those of you with the new steppings, start posting what you've got :)
How hard is it to get Q6600 making about 3.6 <1.4V and 4.0 <1.55~? Are there often pieces like it?
24/7 stable 3.6 <1.4V is very common, but 4.0 <1.55 is quite rare.
And what's max safe vcore for this CPU 24/7?
I wouldn't exceed 1.5v for 24/7 use.
Yay no#1 for watercooled 65nm quads prime95 stable (for now lol).
Cheers for the update:up:
I just got Q6600 with a L80xxxxx, I will post the full batch number later. VID is a dissapointment. 1.325V. I think all the new 65nm quads have high VID. Currently doing 3.2 at 1.32V. I'm new to quad core overclocking so still trying to find the best stable settings.
Hi W3bbo
Get that on WCG asap
never noticed this thread before lolol
all you quads get into WCG team and lets see who is really stable ????

We dont bite !!!!!
Nice work there, but what's your VID? Mine's at 1.2250V and I'm prime/occt 12-hr stable at 3825 but only super-pi 32M at 4050, 1M at 4095.
Guess it's all chip-dependant (got a G0). Decent cooling too (sig). Temp limited >4.0 as chip needs dramatic Vcore increase to keep stable. Thus reaching Tjunction very quickly.
Thinking of doing as so many others and gettting a qx9650... but I've only had my q6600 since mid-jan bit early to switch lol...
Maybe it could be better, it was a quick test...
hmmm... some beta site, I forget but it's really just a novelty I think since it won't even make a validation file :p:
Daaaaaamn... so far every L800+ I've seen has had a VID that sucks monkey balls followed buy crappy OCs...
Need to exchange this L804 -.-' while it's still in teh box.
Hi m8, I don't generally go in for all this folding malarky. I just see little point in it (dons flame suit). I mean its all good and well searching for cures for diseases and respect to those who do crunch but the power it takes to run say 1,000,000 pc's at 100% load is surely gonna polute the environment and create just as many problems as it solves? Just my opinion of course.
But what's the point of having a clean environment if you're dead :p:
Eller
The same could be said of being disease free but no planet to live on:p: ;)
Haven't tried it yet, but got L804A670 from Fry's online for 180 bucks.

I love this thread for the Q6600 database on page 1.
Just thought it needed a bump! :p:
add in L80x's to the database. we need to see how these new chips clock.
I started working on a 3.6GHz setting, that I intend to use for just web surfing. I will save the 3.8GHz + for games only.
My lapped Q6600 GO (L726B397) with a default vcore of 1.224v's, only requires 1.392v's to make 3.6GHz stable.
Looks allot like these boy's!

It looks like there are more A Q6600's than B's?
It did pass the OCCT mixed test for 1 hour error free, and have Primed it successfully for 4 hours. This shot is only a run of 1.5 hours, but just wanted to post a picture to keep things honest. ;)
I only get about 42C max temp on my CPU @ 1.392 volts.

An old screen.
It's just 40min, it snapped after 80-90min's.
But it's stable for an ordinary use.

at 1.328v he's 2h QuadPrime stable, didn't go further then that.
I keep it at 1.344v just to be sure, no prob's at all for 5-6 months.
Oh, and the suicide shot is in the sig, it's with the old 965P board.

Sadly I haven't taken CPU-Z validation shots of either. The Q9450 can be done easily, tho it involves shutting down two Folding virtual machines so i can reboot. The Q6600 on the other-hand is currently running in another folding rig in a AB9 QuadGT, and there isn't a hope in hell of getting a 3.8ghz shot from it with that board (385mhz max FSB, tho it's running at 3.45ghz and only 1.28v under 100% Folding load).
Not quite.
I do overlook the North Atlantic, so an open window, cool sea breeze and a 40mm 3480rpm fan on the NB makes for decent temps.
This is the Q9450 currently under full Folding load at 8.04pm -
http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/4258/coolhv6.jpg
Yep, I can understand now those temperatures. In winter, with open window just for enough fresh air on my radiators, I reach same results. But, definately, 25-28°C MB temperature at 20-25°C ambiant is impossible on such overclock for a quadcore while folding or priming in large/blend mode. Expect rather 40-50°C depending on your setup, unless you WC the NB and RAM
You're assuming that the temp sensor is actually in the northbridge chip.
I may be wrong, but isn't it usually a sensor on the motherboard rather than in the northbridge chip?
It's somewhere between NB and Ram modules. Usually, on my tests, stressing RAM and NB is where the MB temperature increases. Prime95 small FFT quiet won't affect it at all
Nobody's cpu is going to die, relax. You can look at processor specs here. I myself think that 1.5v rating is a bit conservative as long as temps are kept at reasonable levels.
The P45 boards are always a plus because many of them can do up to 500FSB with no NB voltage adjustment.

Extremely jealous of all you guys with crazy quads... I got two 1.2125v VIDs that both need 1.384v for 3.6GHz and won't do 3.7GHz shy of 1.496v.
My one -> http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=399536
It's 1.3V , it's not completly stable but I'll work on that this weekend
Here is mine SPECS in signature and my BIOS template too is there for downloading.

This one appears to be a bit of a dud, 1.520 actual volts for 3.75 Stable....I have seen 9450's at 3.8 with much less voltage,
never the less this is what mine requires 1 or 2 notches less and I get errors after a while.
I would have ran orthos longer but Hurricane Ike is over head here in Illinois and the lights are dimming like we are going to lose power.
Could u add mine plz:
